Title: how to choose good altcoin
Post by: long8899 on March 02, 2018, 02:53:52 AM
Hello everyone

I have a question.

there are so many altcoins in the market. How can we choose the right coin?

I know there are some criteria for us to consider

1: low supply
2: good project
3: realistic roadmap
4: good team member

questions: is there any more criteria can be considered? and what's the priority you think about all these criteria?

also. anyone can give me more detail information about these criteria??

like the first one: low supply. how many supply is "low supply"
the second one: what's definition of "good project"
the fourth one: how to measure it has "good team member"

Thank you for your help. I think it is very important for investors.

the first thing to do is to see and read the whitepapers, because they always explain in detail about the project.
high trading volume and available in various exchanges are the things that need to be considered.
a good team is a team that is open to always discuss in thread announcements and other social media.

lastly you can discuss directly with your local community to get the information and the right choice

I usually checking whitepaper and roadmap first. Beside Total supply and Mcap

Low supply and mcap, strong project is best choice

All analysis of altcoins is not necessarily 100% correct. I think the luck factor is the most decisive thing. and also we must have sufficient capital so that if there is a small gap can generate big profits. but what you convey also become an important factor in choosing a successful altcoin.

Don't forget about community because without a proper community backing the coin won't go anywhere. Also it is better if there are more hands involved leading to further decentralization rather than be such few hands involved.

What will be the purpose of their coin? Will it be used as medium for various services or exchange? Does it has a good support to its investors and are they transparent with the project itself?

like the first one: low supply. how many supply is "low supply"
Bitcoin has a very low supply so maybe 50M and below is low supply.

the second one: what's definition of "good project"
Only you can answer of what's the definition of a good project depending on your views and opinions.

the fourth one: how to measure it has "good team member"
Experience, knowledge, I prefer "REAL" team members or developers rather than the good ones.

You can find out many post in this forum which discussed "how to choose a good altcoin/ICO". I think you should look for thing you want to ask before opening a new thread.
Low Supply: You should choose altcoins which have supply under 1 billions coin
Good Project:What is idea of project? And is it necessary for the life or not?
Good Team Member: Altcoins which promoted by reputation Development Team or Advisors Team, are always good coin.

Low inventory: it's a good idea to adjust your coins before making a supply for altcoin
good project: you should look for ideas that can make your project work
Good team members: before giving approval for the team it's a good idea to consider first
that's what I think, thank you

Its very important to check the whitepaper to determine whether its a good project or no, good project means that the coin got its unique value, you can also see the roadmap to see the vision of the the coin, good team means how the team handle the investors and how to handle problems, this can be check from following their social media group, check whether the team is legit and from the time being does the coin meet up with their roadmap target

In my opinion, it is better to make your own research and trust your guts.

The most of the privacy coins are undervalued right now.

The best opportunity is to find a privacy-related project with a low total supply (less than 100M), that way the price will be increasing much faster.

I recently found one project called Ethereum Meta, it is related to anonymity and untraceable transaction. They have a very interesting project to build the Anonymous E-Market Place.

They are on Pre-ICO stage right now, you can check their website: https://ethermeta.com/
Or even better go through their Bitcointalk thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2659058.0

I have two types of investment schemes ;

1-Long-term (high investment) : Projects traded in large boilers known by everyone (Low supply)
2-Short term (low investment) : I'm just looking at the people that make up the project (Low supply)

Having a low supply is the most important factor for me..other factors (team, project, stock exchange) only change the amount of investment.

For me the most important point is the use cases, if you think a new project or startup has the capacity to be adopted by the masses for its functionality or service then yes, you should invest and support the project/coin.

The community is an important criterion needs to be considered as the main point. I think that the supply doesn't give a lot of impacts to believe how good altcoin is. But a big community behind it will provide a clue about the strong support to push the project development itself. That means more trust and the project will become more trustable

Choosing a right altcoin always follow the company website and read the whitepaper clearly while the company was came with ICO. Also, follow the stability of the coin price fluctuation according to the market situation. If, you are seeing a range of the price that the coin is moving then trade from below and if the price shows a stability then make an investment for longer period.

In my opinion choosing a good altcoin is very tricky. There are more than 1500 altcoins and their tech and whitepapers are very similar. You need to search on internet, read whitepaper, search team for a good altcoin. In my opinion it is like a gamble to invest in an altcoin. Maybe in the future we will see the difference.

if you mean low supply as in number of coins you should start taking marketcap into consideration. also compare its mcap with its competitors.

Stay glued to troll boxes, rumors have a way of being true half of the time they are wrong, so you get a 50:50 chance of hitting a nice project. Just know, everything for now is built on pure speculation.

Yesteday someone made an accusation thread to the myriads.io about those picture that has been used by the developer just fake photo that has taken from the youtube video. It must better to clarify about the personality of the developer itself. So many scam projects are using fake account with fake photo too.

I don't pay much attention to the supply, this isn't a guarantee of anything. There's a project with a very low supply but they aren't worth anything, and on the contrary. I like to look at projects with innovative and new ideas, I think they have great potential.

In my opinion, a good Altcoin will depend on coin founders and the number of altcoin released. If coin founders belong to famous people in the world or talented people. So beyond the roadmap, good project ... etc. I estimate that Altcoin will thrive in the future.

These are the steps on how to choose good altcoin:

1. Choose a altcoin based on what you love to used, because not all coins or altcoins have good characteristic.

2. Conduct minimal background checking or study the history of the altcoin you want to hold and to invest, to identify the credibility and potential of the altcoin you've been chosen.

3. Sight the financial stability of the altcoin to easily found if the altcoin have a capability to supports their altcoin for long period of time.

4. Check if they have enough fund to supports their altcoin for not less than 5 years, because maybe they were offer good price from the starts but in the future, they have lack of fund to support project for many years coming.

I will look at the Whitepaper of the project, it will usually record the most information about the project. Then take into account its practicality and usefulness, what will it be?
A very important part of the coin is that the community needs to grow, to be able to look at telegram, facebook, twitter, reddit, medium, etc. Their ANN topic: interaction and opinion of members.

Everything is based on a long analysis of the market supported by knowledge gained through the exchange of crypto currencies. So you need to just follow some coins and decide if you want to invest or not.

 - strong team that has done that before and succeeded;

 - it proposes a solution to a very important problem;

 - it has no competitors or weak ones;

 - it's a protocol, just as HTTP is.

These are criterias that help me choose a good ico or at least reduce the risk of being a scam one. This implies a lot of research though.

Learning every day will help you choose the right ones

I think from the time a project announces its ICO they need to exhibit their seriousness through a beta product which works and the tokensale should only be used as a way to expand its operations not when to start the development of a product, I know that's how ico's where carried out but things have changed and this is my criteria of choosing an altcoin.

In general, there are a lot of criteria. Here are some that I draw attention to when choosing altcoins: a team (how strong, who is in advisers); community activity, and of course, the product itself should be credible, plus good reviews about it.

Why do you choose alts? Set a goal for yourself. You should clearly understand what you want from crypto. If you want a quick profit then buy coins with a high volatility. If you want a stable income buy coins from the TOP-10. If you want a long term investment with a high ROI you must study many projects to find the best.

Choose an altcoin that their currency is mined by the normal blockchain process – miners give up some processing power and time on their computers, or other hardware. But they’re not hashing transactions.

The criteria you should know to choose a potential Altcoin: Coin founders, they have extensive knowledge, status in society. Roadmap and Whitepaper. The number of tokens released is not much. If the amount of tokens released will be less potential for later. The project is feasible in the future.

The best criteria to choose altcoin if you find much altcoins you choose to the to 20 altcoins in the coinmarketcap surely a lot of benefits you can get, I recommend to mate ethereum are now have a good expectation to up their price this year eventually ethereum have good reputation and strong coins in the cryptoworld.

The criteria that you have mentioned are good. Having a low supply would help the project to accumulate coin price higher easier the current supply would start accumulating in the market. Another thing to be considered is an active development and the existence of the product or services. Without it, investors would surely dump the project. Marketing is another thing, with active marketing, it will easily reach out people and potential market.

There is a very big difference between limited supply and low supply, a limited supply is very important it does not matter if the max supply of a coin is 10 million or 100 millions as long as there is a limit and that number never changes, bitcoin will still be have the same market cap even if the max supply was 210 millions, we will have 10 times our current holdings and each coin will have one tenth of its current value.

You can actually remove low supply. That is not a good basis in investing a coin. For your information, Ripple, Cardano, Stellar, IOTA, NEM, TRON, and many others have several billions of coin supply and they are all in the top of the list. You may retain the other three. But the truth is that number 2 pretty sums up everything from 2 to 4 of your list.

A good project has all these characteristics: very active, with a lot of big partners, with a working and amazing product, brilliant and hardworking team members, innovative, takes good care of their partners and clients, etc.

Dont forget about the risk of course, its Crypto...

When choosing a good altcoin, choose for the one that's profitable. Watch out for the pump and dump scheme, and choose for the most established coin so it will give you a huge return and will be risk- free.

Low market volume may not always be good. It is very easy to get the price down after you invest. If a big seller comes and sells everything you have, you will do a lot of damage because of the low volume ;)

To choose the best altcoin for your investment, the most important thing you should research is what altcoin is best fit for your finances, which altcoin is most likely to grow in the future. Then learn about that altcoin thoroughly, see how its status in the market. Hope you will choose the best altcoin for yourself.

The supply does not really matter if the coin/token is still in ICO stage . You can have big supply but very low price tokens or small supply and very expensive tokens . What really matter is the ratio between supply and price .
So what you really should look into is :

- The team behind the project
- How strong the community behind this project
- Roadmap and if it is realistic
- Whitepaper
- The idea of the project

After checking all of this make sure to buy at the early stage with good bonus offers  ;)

2nd. what the coin do is necesary? will it be used?
3. its better if there is a product already released . you know in what you invest
4. hard cap shoul be around 30 mil$

and thats how you get a good ico. checking the list

You must analyze all available information about coins. Estimate probably profit and differents opposites that can occur. Check support, and ask other users what think about this coin

Quite easy actually.Any coin is good if it seems good to you.So Dont listen when other telling you to buy something full of potential or not.Your own research is the key.Low market cap ,roadmap and the projects idea is what you want to check.
Dont forget about the risk of course, its Crypto...

This is it, my friend. However you arrive at the decision that X alt is the coin for you, just make sure it was purely your own decision. Don't listen to any kind of information or advice if you didn't arrive at the same conclusion. Be it positive or negative, as long as you are 100% the owner of your decision, go for it.

At the end of the day, if you fail, you know you tried your best. If you succeed, then you have a winning formula.

Yes it is quiet difficult too choose good altcoins because too many coin available in market and it is hard to choose stable coins. Before choosing focus on the worth of market and professional team behind the coin, road map of coin, market capture of coin shows its value and past history of coin declares is it will survive or not.So when find all positive answers choose and invest accordingly.

Good coin doesn't necessarily make you a lot of money. Some people are too greedy to buy some coin that makes more money, so it's not easy to define a good coin.

Hello, good questions

First of all I would check idea, then team and then  whitepaper and road-map. Of course Total supply and Mcap  area also very important.

Do a calculation for each coin you want to buy by looking at coin in circullation and the development roadmap. Also dont forget about community. Dash and monero can get their succeed because they have very strong community which want to hold the coin and elieve in project. If the coin have programer who work for free its better.

Not sure if you got the answer to your other questions, but I do have something to say when it comes to choosing an alt. ALWAYS, for 9/10 alts you decide buy, NEVER buy a new ICO that just got put on an exchange. Buy alts when you know they're at an all time low or at the lowest in terms of BTC.

If you wanna understand how to choose the coin, you need to go to the exchange trade-market and base on such things as:
TRADING VOLUME,
THE NOWADAYS PRICE,
VOLUME OF PEOPLE WHO WANNA BUY and SELL THIS COIN
Of course you need to visit the site of this coin that you analyze and read whitepaper
And look how this coin trades on market during the whole time (price up-down-updown, or it has a stabile level - it's better to get coin with up-down-up-down-up... - people has an interest in this coin)

There are internet reading materials that would somewhat teach you how to choose a good altcoin. So have time to read those articles. Of course each altcoin has its whitepaper wherein you can read the  viability of the projects in the market community, the team, roadmap, marketcap. You need to do a lot if research and some technical analysis so that you can choose altcoins which are legit and have potential to grow and useful in the community as a whole.

Title: Re: how to choose good altcoin

In addition:
1) Watch closely on project's community. Is it active? Is it helping? Are there any valuable members, not only traders and noobs?
2) Research member's names on the internet, find their LinkedIn profiles, their previous jobs, etc
3) Look through their social media. Is it active? When was the last post and how active are their channels?
4) Last, but not least - do you think blockchain tech is really needed in their kind of business/market?

Well, choosing a good altcoin is very difficult. because some successful coins, can experience problems. perhaps a good coin is a coin that has a higher price than the ICO price when it is distributed to a bounty hunter. well, those coins are very good coins for me.

They are on ICO stage right now and already on the exchanges, you can check their website: https://ethermeta.com/
Or even better go through their Bitcointalk thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2659058.0

For me, the best way to choose about whether an altcoin is good or not would be reading and understanding its whitepaper. Because it is the whitepaper where you can know al the details about that certain Altcoin and understand what are their visions and missions in making that Altcoin. It is important to know and verify a certain Altcoin first before thinking to invest in it because maybe in the end, it is only a shitcoin and not an Altcoin.

Title: Re: how to choose good altcoin

To choose a good altcoin is you have to study each and every altcoin because we must know if this altcoin is in demand or not. You also have to read, analyze or understand the whitepapers so you could choose a good altcoin. There are things that we must consider for choosing a good altcoin first is for low supply second is a good project third is a realistic roadmap fourth is a good team member.

In short, you need to look at which kind of exchanges it trades on.  If these are large exchanges with good volumes, then this coin has a future, after that you should study the roadmap and who's on the team, and the rest things are not so important.

Yeah, reading whitepaper is always in our top priority before investing in ICOs, so that is thing we should have done everytime. Choosing a good team member is also important, only famous and well known people that are regconized by investors can have huge commnunity to support the project in all the time, we can see many ICOs have succeed after ICOs thanks to their own unique and references from famous people like Warren Buffet,.. That is why advertisement is important too.

How to find a good altcoin is
The first we see from the whitepaper then we learn,
because each team will definitely provide a detailed explanation of the project,
Next we see social dimedia or thread and other media announcements
whether the team is always communicating and open "
because a good project team always communicates and monitors developments
the project he developed

Check on their website and you can basically tell if the altcoin is good or not, the founders and team members that support he altcoin. Then check the white paper and roadmaps and usually the projects now have a telegram group that you could join in and you would be able to know if the members of that coin is active because they always keep you updated.

Agree with the low supply (and of course corresponding price - market cap) and good project.

Roadmap of course really important, but there should not be delays (we have seen the SYScoin masternode delay's results - loose of trust, loose of demand)

Last but not least (actually the one that I really do hate): Marketing. This is not fair and fair at the same time. Some meaningless projects with huge telegram groups, fancy campaigns have demand while silent great AI, marketplace, platforms are not demanded...

Low supply is  always not the best way to find gems. is depend on its price too. if its a 10 billion supply coin and its price is $0.001 then we can say its undervalued. also if there is $2 priced coin with 50 million supply then it also undervalued. so always find the marketcap of that coin. if it has low marketcap then it has more chance for huge growth.

good project means projects with solid tech and good partnerships. if you see there product and idea is good then its a good project.

Also if there team members are experienced and worked in blockhain industry then its a good team. communication, meeting deadlines and active team members make it a good team.

Everyone should be more careful when choose to invest in an altcoin, They need to be smart when he starts his selection. Every successful investor is already had a suffisent knowledge about this field. Searching about people review is very good too, but you should carefully read the whitepaper and make some decisions when you decide to invest, sometimes it's too hard to find the scam ICO even for the experts, so you don't put all your money in just one project, try to spread your investment in differents project.

We all came here to make some cash. I used to do the same. But as I continued to research into this tech that is the blockchain I saw the utility of it being a disruptive technology in today's status quo: which is a welcome change to the current situation..
The technology does not suffer from regulation and are not subject to manipulation from some central authority - in theory at least, we have seen the effect of whales.
They are decentralised and this makes them attractive as alternative payment options making them attractive to a lot of people.
If in the future there is some instability then for sure cryptocurrencies can survive as a form of payment option.
The best about them, to me, right now is the amount of innovative projects that are coming out. I  know there are scams, but the good ones really have good things coming up. Watch the projects like Multiversum and Rentberry.

When I want to invest in any coin, I consider the following facts:
Is the coin accepted in the market. Acceptance increases the coin's potential and opens new prospects in the financial market.
Statistics. Is the coin in a financial bubble or has it shown good profit gains in the past.
Development team behind the coin and how it maintains the coin's blockchain.
What advantage the coin has over other coins. The features that the coin provides which not only makes it a good investment asset but also versatile in the financial market.
