Title: Any suggestions on building quiet moderately priced rig? Post by: FoolFully on March 02, 2018, 11:40:20 AM How can I build a rig that’s quiet so I can put it in bedroom without spending lots for liquid cooling? Like is it much louder if I use 2 evga G3 750w psu rather than 1 evga 1600w? Also are blower type cards more quiet than cards with 3 fans?

Post by: chandrarahmadewa on March 02, 2018, 04:22:27 PM I am shocked to see the price of VGA cards now, and we compare prices this year with last year, in Southeast Asia is getting more and more expensive, so the possibility of buying VGA card with low cost becomes difficult now. Now the price of the old VGA card is almost the same as the price of the new VGA card, for me crazy hehe.

I would argue the op can not achieve his goal due to markups in card prices. this card in the link would work at the listed price of 600 http://www.corsair.com/en-us/hydro-gfx-gtx-1080-liquid-cooled-graphics-card 3 year warranty will do 550 sols 2 of them will do 1100 sols and not be loud he could build a rig for 600 + 600 = 1200 + 200 = 1400 it would earn 5 to 7 usd a day and roi in 200-280 days fully warrantied for 3 years that is decent price. but those cards are selling for 800 to 900 not 600 Title: Re: Any suggestions on building quiet moderately priced rig? CPU Mining is the quietest way to go, its virtually silent, however, you are obviously restricted with what coins you can mine with your CPU. The only way to have a quiet(ish) rig with GPU's is to use lower spec cards. I have a small starter rig here for testing using Sapphire 560's (4GB), if your mining Ether expect a 50% drop (or more) in hash rate though, its not very loud at all compared to the 1080 setup I have but it will still keep you up at night. Failing that, just buy some ear defenders and sleep in the buff... Title: Re: Any suggestions on building quiet moderately priced rig? Blower cards tend to be LOUDER, as they usually have to run higher fan settings to stay cool. Cards with good cooling, set for efficient mining, in a riser rig with plenty of space between the cards, will usually result in a very quiet rig. Use a standard box-type fan instead of small computer fans also tends to help keep it quiet, as you can probably leave the fan set on "low" and still get more than enough airflow. Due to ram shortages and pricing on RAM, 1080 ti cards are "worth" more like $800 now - and that's not looking likely to change for quite a while. The additional heat in a small room like a bedroom might be an issue though, especially if your rig is fairly high powered. Title: Re: Any suggestions on building quiet moderately priced rig? I sold 20,000 usd in cards in Jan and Feb. I paid about 17,000 and mined maybe 3,000 or 4,000 usd with them. So about 7000 usd in profit. I am offloading every aircool card I have. I want quiet gear. I am down to these: http://www.corsair.com/en-us/hydro-gfx-gtx-1080-ti-liquid-cooled-graphics-card# https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=11G-P4-6598-KR and 3 of these http://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/omen-desktop-pc-880-150t-2tb60av-1 the 1080ti's are all very good plus quiet. mATX motherboard capable of SLI, 2x1080ti watercooled, 360mm of rads. The rest is pretty simple and cheap. https://i.imgur.com/EX5SOfw.jpg |
