This is my first group buy, but far and away from my first time selling. My name is Ben, and I run a website called http://buyahash.com. We are an official Blue Fury reseller, as per the manufacturer. We have already ordered an initial allotment of 200 Blue Furies from the manufacturer. If we get close to achieving this number, we will work with the manufacturer to get more instock ASAP. Therefore, there is no set cut-off on this. If you buy, you are guaranteed the item, unless BPMC cannot fulfill more than 200. If this should happen, we'll shut off the group buy until we can get stock past our 200qty allotment. Economy shipping really varies.. It can be between 10 - 21 days. Generally, I am not a fan of it at all. DHL/EMS are far more expensive, but guaranteed. If you need a small quantity of miners, I may be able to do a lower price than $50 on shipping, just to make sure you get them quickly.

Yes. We use Stamps.com for order fulfillment, and they typically post the tracking number to you. If by some reason they are not made available to you via your E-mail address, PM me as soon as the batch ships so I can get you the number.

I added a new shipping option for USPS Priority 7-10 day shipping at $25 USD.

As it stands, we're simply charging whatever we have to pay via DHL/EMS at the moment, which is about $45-50 USD for the first pound. The fusterating thing about this is that they charge the said $45 for the first pound, then about $5 more for each pound afterwards.

Ben, I just realized but wanted to confirm - so you already placed the order and even if you don't get 200 pre-ordered, those of us who bought from buyahash will still receive it (hopefully) next week?

Yes, that's correct. I placed the order about 3 days prior to posting on BitcoinTalk.org, as I was still getting the website up & ready to handle orders. We're up to about 37/200 accounted for, so there's still plenty of room and time for more orders.

Any update on shipping?

I am talking to the factory on a near-daily basis. According to them, we were one of the first companies to get our payment in (since we didn't wait to reach the 200 unit volume), so we are going to be the first to get the miners. The last conversation I had with the BPMC rep said that we should get the miners shipped to us early/mid next week. We have a DHL importers account already onhand, so they can ship that out to us ASAP, and then to you the same or next day (depending on when we get physical inventory). So I would say a safe bet is that we ship them to all buyers next week.

As per my last discussion with the factory, we should have all pre-orders shipped on next Monday or Tuesday, as we expect to have them shipped this week to us.

Will we receive tracking numbers when our orders ship?

Generally, yes. It should automatically notify you with an E-mail when your order ships if its in the US, or an economy/priority overseas shipping option. The only caveat is with overseas DHL shipments, as they aren't integrated into our shipping manager. That means I'll likely have to manually post shipping info.

I'm still talking to the factory to see what the ETA is on everything.. The factory seemingly should ship to us today/tomorrow (since we're a day behind). But I haven't talked to them over the weekend. The last update I had from them was that all components were coming in on Monday, and they'd begin immediate, high-volume production of the miners to ship out. We were one of the first GBs to put money down, which should mean we get the first run of miners.

Ben, an update this weekend would be lovely. Since I have 6x furies charged to my PayPal I am curious about their fate :) I am not considering disputing with paypal and I know how much trouble it causes for bitcoin equipment vendors when people start doing that (poor Maidak!!). I had nothing but excellent service with buy-a-hash in the past and trust you will handle this expediently, as always. 

Yes. We will work to disburse any compensation given to us as soon as we're able to. If you (theoretically) wanted a PP refund, I can gladly issue it. However, we're slated to get them all this week from the factory. We had a few refunds, so we may have some to sell later on. We're working on a merchants accounts with Chase Paymentech, so our bases will be further covered in the future... We've dealt with PayPal enough to know how this works.

Alternatively, we could have easily ordered these from the factory and not listed any until we took inventory of them. We paid for everything upfront regardless. We just felt that the whole group buy business would allow people to reserve them before they got sold out. In hindsight, we'll probably just order & announce their availability when they are on hand next time.

Unfortunately, I could have told Maidak about this. My primary PayPal account was frozen for $11,000 USD at the very start of this, so I had to get a 2nd PayPal account to take the rest of orders... Its a nasty business dealing with them, and the hoops you have to deal with are abysmal. Another worry I have for some others is getting these items imported... Because the factory is listing the declared value @ wholesale, so some people may not be set up to deal with a $20,000 import declaration.

I may be in the minority here, but paypal is very convenient for me to use to purchase online and I am a very honest person.  I have complained to paypal for a refund once out of many many dozens of purchases (a filesharing site declared 2 days after a 3 month sign up that they wouldn't allow me to download anything other than what I personally uploaded -- I calculated and requested the exact pro-rated amount).  This is a chickens and eggs situation.  I ordered 15 furies from you which I hope to turn into bitcoins, but unfortunately have no real amount of bitcoins to spend.  For me to purchase bitcoins without exposing myself to fraud, requires me to pay more than they're worth using localbitcoins.com and waiting many hours in between saying goodbye to my money and hello to my bitcoins.  It's a giant pain in the ass, with me feeling like I've been scammed for the hours in between clicking send and the many many refreshes before I see the bitcoin transfer completed.  It's a frightening process for the little guy.  I wish people weren't such douches, but it is what it is.

The short of it is this -- thank you Benny.  You may not feel up to doing this again, but I for one hope that you offer pre-order group buys again in the very near future.

Mine shows Electronic label created last Friday. There were no updates since then. I still have a few more days since I paid with Paypal. This starts to sound a bit sour looking at how other happy owners play with their toys :( Ben?

I got my shipping notice last night, it showed electronic shipping order received. This morning I check the DHL website and its already at customs somewhere in Ontario Canada.

What happened? Usually reliable Ben showed no signs of activity for a week now. As ssinc working on batch #2, Ben's pre-paid order is missing. Beastlymac, did Ben get our miners?

Yes they have been delivered according to the tracking.

DHL has already made its first delivery attempt here in Toronto Canada, sadly no one home to accept it. Mine shipped out last night.

Sorry for the delays on posting about everything - been insanely busy.

We were slated to take stock on Friday, so we prepped the packages on Thursday for a Friday or Saturday shipment. However, UPS came extremely late and the delivery was problematic. We took physical stock on Monday, and shipped out immediately, starting with the 3-day international express orders first (due to the extreme charges on shipping for those - plus, I have to drive them about 1hr away to ship). It's great to hear they attempted to deliver to you in Toronto today.. It took them just 18hrs from taking the package to attempted delivery, which is amazing.

As of today, 98% of all orders should be shipped out. The 2% being any sort small errors on my end, but they should all be en route to their final destinations. I am working with the factory on the 0.05 BTC refunds for every USB ordered. Hopefully we can get those processed by the time everyone gets them.

If USPS has not shown activity by the end of the day, notify me immediately, so I can hunt down what is going on. All US orders were automatically upgraded to priority shipping, and most larger international orders were upgraded to the next tier if it was feasible.

I received my package today, but it only had 1 miner.
I ordered one on Oct 8, and another on Oct 18.
Will my second order be coming later, or has it been overlooked?

Any updates on compensation from the vendor?

Also how are you handling and sticks that are dramatically under-performing or DOA?

I got all 6 sticks delivered  this week, which were ordered through two separate transactions. Sticks are operating at 2.3GH/s with little variance.  I am running OS X bfgminer version 3.5.1. HW Error rates show about 4% but the raw numbers seem much higher. Rejected shares are below 1%. Slush web stats match client, so I do not believe HW errors are really THAT bad.

If you PM me your name and wallet address, I can send you the BTC compensation rather quickly. As for DOA, we have to handle that on a per-case basis.


@Sigurd - I think the person that helps me with order fulfillment overlooked that. I'll look into it Monday and try to get that out to you ASAP. Sorry about the oversight!

Could you send my compensation please?  I sent you a PM and an email about the missing miners.  They were dropped off at the post office on the 5th, left Albany on the 7th and there haven't been any updates on the tracking since the 7th.  I'm not far, just up in Toronto.  Any other Toronto people received their miners?

If you can get my refund to me, at least I can try to recoup some of this loss with the high price of BTC at the moment.

I have the worst luck.  I ordered 3 BF's, 1 from Maidak and 2 from Ben.  The one from Maidak was defective and has been sent back for RMA.  Ben's have disappeared into some kind of postal vortex...   Almost a month now and I have nothing to show for the money I have spent..

Ben, it's time to start doing active damage control here. Your previous reputation on buy a hash website is not holding water on bitcointalk.org I got all 6 sticks I ordered from you. They were delayed by about a week compared to other group buys here. This is despite the fact you said you placed order in full while other GB managers were still collecting pre-order money.

Second, rebate that was paid in full by other GB managers last week is yet to arrive to my address. I sent two PMs so far. Last promise was this past Wednesday.

Third, I am clearly not alone based on other comments in this thread.

1. Unfortunately, despite the fact that I paid in full, our miners shipped out when everyone elses' did. Furthermore, ours got delayed by UPS for 3 days due to a postage/COD error by the factory. I have never once had this happen for any other GB or order we've ever done.

2. Rebate was sent with an extra 20% due to your delay. I apologize for this. I thought I had sent yours, but clearly did not.

3. I believe I have all other compensations taken care of. If there are any missing, let me know and they'll be sent out as soon as I get a message. I apologize for the delays. Hopefully the additional compensation helps out with the delay on the refund.
