This might be a dumb question, but I really want to know.

For Bitcoin, it's easy: I just go to http://bitcoincharts.com/ and see: Total BTC   11.776M

Type: "getinfo"

Real limit of XPM is non-deterministic. See reward calc fomula - Reward = 999/Diff^2

What is a mathmatic chart for how many will exist by year?

Some charts are here (http://xpm.muuttuja.org/charts/). See estimated primecoins in circulation chart and you can extrapolate it to the future.
