If I were you, I'd spend $4000 for Bitcoin and put them in a secure hardware wallet (Ledger Nano S only costs 70EUR, by the way). The rest $1000 is for altcoin with huge multiplier potential. My personal choice for now is WABI and BAT. WABI is currently sitting on 190 marketcap rank, defintiely undervalued given their consistent development. BAT is the same, while not severely undervalued like WABI, I think it should value more. Do your research for both coins and thank me later ;)

If I were you I would have invested a third of the amount in Bitcoin, a third in the Etherium, and I would have invested the remaining money in promising altcoyins, or even participated in ICO.

I think you can consider about bitcoin and ethereum, because their prices looks very good for buying, according to old and high prices. And maybe you can think about some other altcoins like IOTA and Tron.

In my opinion the best way to start with that kind of amount is putting it into coins that are already in the top 100 because yoi can make sure that you can earn profits but if you want higher profits you can invest in ICOs you can earn up to x10 to x20 in just a month depending on the project they are built but make sure you made your own research first before investing because it's hard to differentiate legitimate and scam ICOs.

I guess, the best way to do with that money is to invest in ICO's or trade it to other profitable altcoins. If you are interested in Investing then you might as well create your own portfolio of ICO's and Altcoins and divide your $5000 to different kinds of Projects or Altcoins, or if you'd like to do both. You have five thousand dollars, then I would recommend to put it all in Ethereum. You can buy what like 7-8 ETH I think and once it becomes 1000 dollars then you will have 7000 - 8000 dollars. I think that it is necessary to put your money in different places not only in cryptocurrencies. It is good to invest in real estate and in fiat currencies too. I am just diversify my savings to be financially insured.

You can either invest your money in various crypto assets that are not much volatile such as btc, eth, neo, xmr and nem for safe investment and returns over time. If you want to take some risk and earn some good profit of atleast 3X, invest the amount in altcoins that are more volatile, but have good potential of growing in short time such as trx, xrp, xvg, ada and iota.

You can also invest in ICO’s, but I wouldn’t recommend that as most of the ICO’s nowadays are scams and ponzi schemes without any utility of project.

True. One must always distribute his/her investments in more than one coin. Never invest in single coin as it increases the risk of losing money though there are also chances of profit. Distributing your investment in various coins can save you from massive loss and also if one coin doesn’t perform well, atleast the others will. Also before investing, do the analysis and research about the coins you are thinking to invest in. it gives a rough idea about what the coin will cost in near future which is also called as price speculation.

What you need to do is research for at least a month before you buy anything. That way you will not make the same mistakes that me and many other did when first started trading altcoins, which means buying coins when they where all time high and getting our money stuck in these coins for very long time, if they ever will go up again. I think you should invest all of them on ETH. It does not bring huge profits like other altcoins but it is quite safe
