Title: Forum poll and minimum merit requirement to vote
Post by: TMAN on March 03, 2018, 12:43:18 PM
As some of us have seen on recent polls, the farmers have a massive advantage and are able to play the odds.

I feel that theymos should change the voting requirements, so to participate in a poll the forum member must of received 10 merits over and above the initial hand out.

This will ensure that the farmers are not swaying polls and adds some more credibility to the merit system.

What are your thoughts?

Almost no one believes the results of any poll here. Open any poll of significance and place winning bets on it being skewed.

Exactly.. maybe change the merit requirement to 50 merits received then. Sure may only be 50 people who can vote now but at least we will know that the users voting are not account farmers

Nice idea! But maybe let the poll creator decide the amount of merits needed to participate in the poll.

Haha, that's true.

Hmm, good suggestion but I prefer to see it as an option rather than an obligatory feature, my worries is to see the opposite from some eccentric users putting unrealistic high merit requirement to allow users participating in the poll. Better to have a predefined and logical min-max points..
Next thing min +10 merit to open self-moderated topic maybe.

Edit :
I thought the farmers were the ones with all the merits. :)
+1 so you can keep fighting them by giving flowers to the right people ;)

On the new forum I think there should be several parameters to limit who can vote or even participate in your thread (when you self mod) that you can choose yourself (limiting it to certain ranks of your choosing etc and limiting it to merit could also be included).

Yea good idea. Merit is here to stay so let's use it properly and totally disable the farmers and hopefully some of the scammers as well

The same new forum we have been waiting years for? Perhaps it might be worthwhile making a change in the meantime

Just for fun, but I guess if someone receive merit points for such a one-line post as yours, he/she will be reported to List of users who are abusing merit system (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2823221.200)  ;D

Fun = quality.. I gave him a merit as well.. humorous posts are needed. It can't all be serious discussion
