Title: Bitcoin accepted in Europe?
Post by: Washball on March 03, 2018, 03:20:28 PM
Germany and France were the first in europe to prominently warn against cryptocurrencies. Now that Germany will accept bitcoin and will tax only VAT, while France was very much in favour to ban cryptocurrencies, what will happen in Europe. There are other european countries who are likely to accept cryptocurrencies, with or without regulations.
What will be the outcome of the G20 discussion on cryptocurrencies this month?

I think that BTC with be fully accepted in the future, there's no way around it. Probably they will raise the amount of taxes for owning cryptocurrency.

Spain is considering regulating on bitcoin. Furthermore, it plans on taking advantage of the current common European regulatory limbo to attract companies an talent that want to set their roots in Spain, by means of tax reductions for high-tech corporations raising funds through ICOs.

Easier said than done and not to be trusted until regulation fineprint is shown.

My opinion is, the Germans will start buying and the coins will stumble upward, but on the account of taxes, then before you walk to the moon, you imagine how the player accounts for possession, trade, use of the word crypto currency)) I can not imagine ;D ;D

Total wrong. France isn't planning to ban cryptocurrencies and never was. We, individual or companies pay our taxes related to cryptos. There is a difference between to ban a crypto and looking to regulate digital currencies.
Nobody has a crystal ball to tell you what will be the result of the G20.

Thanks for noteing out the G20. I think that Eu is going to do the adult thing, adult thing being legalizing the currency transfers otherwise they will not get any taxes out of these transactions and will push them underground.

Germany has already recognized crypto currency as a legal tender in accordance with the decision of the European Court of Human Rights. The same must be done by France, which signed on May 4, 1974 the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms of Man of 1950, and undertakes to change its domestic laws to the specific decisions of this European court.

In this regard, the crypto currency must be recognized as a legal tender in the territory of 41 states that have signed this Convention. Therefore, bitcoin and crypto currency must now develop very well and grow in price.

i think, in the near future the european union will pick a common coin like Euro and it is going to be used in commerce between Union countries.
They can pick Ripple because of centralizaiton. it is not a dream i think.

As far as I know there is no official announcement from France. Please provide a link if there is any.
There was only a news about the discussion at G20 summit which will be held soon. France didn't announce that they want to ban bitcoin. They want to talk about it at G20 summit.

Most of the EU countries are already using Euro (except UK and some countries on the eastern part of EU) so Euro is already used in the Union countries. Or you mean that they will create a cryptocurrency version of the Euro and will use that instead of the current system?
I'm not sure about Ripple, I don't think that an existing coin will become a common new currency for such a big Union...

They warn because bitcoin is very risky asset and investors especially new ones can lose their money, and it is especially about ico as they most are not regulated. Bitcoin is risky but not be nanned.

This is the year of regulations around the globe and i do not see any countries banning it,with the rally we had in bitcoin last year,no country could ignore it and that was the negative effect of the rally we had, hopefully we will see negative news that would drive the market down too, what ever it may be major countries will accept the new market.

Depends on a country. Look at Switzerland. They know their shit about money for years and they are famous about it. Now they are accepting cryptos of course. About France I never heard they wanted to ban crypto but I guess you have other source...

i find it really strange that in these days of calls for closer integration, tax and finance regulations are still absolutely all over the place in europe. i dunno how they plan to take on the world if they're still competing with each other for business.

if there ever is more federalisation then europe tends to follow germany's lead. germany is the daddy and always will be. it's kind of odd how relaxed they are about bitcoin taxation but if i were german i certainly wouldn't be complaining.

what regulation is possible beyond what's already in place? try opening an account on a legit exchange and you'll certainly know what regulation looks like.

they can't regulate actual bitcoin transactions. they can't regulate non custodial wallets.

i agree that anyone taking charge of other people's crypto such as exchanges, custodial wallets and icos need to be kept on a short leash. beyond that i don't see what else is possible.

Not just bitcoin but altcoins are much more needed in the future especially if the transaction speed per second is much faster than bitcoin. But anyway This is a good news for everyone.

The Norwegian Tax Administration stated in December 2013 that they don't define bitcoin as money but regard it as an asset. Profits are subjected to wealth tax. In business, use of bitcoin falls under the sales tax regulation.

The Norwegian government stated in February 2017 that they would not levy VAT on the purchase or sale of bitcoin

Germany showed a great example for other European countries to allow Bitcoin.

Germany just fulfilled the decision of the European Court of Human Rights from 2015. Of course, at the same time this is a good example for imitation. Therefore, most likely, in the near future all European states will recognize bitcoin as a legal tender. I think that this should also be decided at the G20 summit this month.

Germany has made it clear that BTC will not be taxed as a means of payment!

Israel's tax authorities have imposed a tax on the BTC as property.

European countries are legally beginning to agree with BTC!

The European Central Bank classifies bitcoin as a convertible decentralized virtual currency. In July 2014 the European Banking Authority advised European banks not to deal in virtual currencies such as bitcoin until a regulatory regime was in place.

It is very good to happen if a country has received a bitcoin currency in the absence of regulations, and I believe one day will be followed by many other European countries, hopefully have good impact.

I think the governments will soon stop fighting against bitcoin. Because they begin to understand that bitcoin doesn't  threaten fiat money in any way.

Europe next to Japan are one of those countries who show support over cryptos and if this good news will continue, the possibility of fully adaptation of cryptos in the global economy will likely to happen soon. I know regulations will go so far before the implementation but this will surely help the economy.

this good news mate not only for the old bitcoiner's, is also for the people in Europe in this way people start to learn about bitcoin how it works and the importance of bitcoin as virtual cryptocurrency, hoping the other country follow to adopt bitcoin(cryptocurrency) as currency without to help for the community of their country.

This is not the first time that a certain country is talking about regulation. I also observed that every time we heard such news the crypto market will react because people will tend to panic and fear of regulation. But government could only regulate exchanges which in turn could benefit the users because we could be now protected from scam and fraud created by some of the exchanges.
