Title: BitReturn.com - Introducing new Bitcoin mining forecast and ROI calculator
Post by: valzav on October 01, 2013, 03:50:07 PM
Let me introduce new Bitcoin mining calculator - http://www.bitreturn.com/

This is how it's different from other calculators:
- simple interface; very easy to use
- shows forecasted difficulty and network speed charts
- calculates ROI
- ability to add several mining hardware assets
- shows generated cash flows chart
- remembers entered data

Don't hesitate to ask questions. Your suggestions are very welcomed!

Hope it can help you to save on ASIC pre-orders.

If those default numbers are anywhere what will happen, then that is possibly the most depressing chart for anyone who already owns or has on order any mining hardware whatsoever!

Great design, however when I Inputted my information and as a ROI of over 2000% for a split second I couldn't realise what I had done wrong. Then I realised I'm UK and I guess you are USA. That date format thing again. Lol after inputting in USA format my ROI fell to -80%. That's more like I expected!

May I ask for a way to alter electric and pool costs please.

Rluner, thank you for the feedback. Yes, I'm using USA date and numbers formatting.
Ability to alter electric and pool costs is already on my to do list.

someone needs to make a forecast like this that accounts for the point where the network tapers out slightly. at current BTC value there is no way any current/soon-coming miner would be profitable past february due to power consumption limitations, and this would create a ceiling to the exponential growth

One thing I know for certain is that any chart that looks like the first one has always resulted in a massive correction .

An example is seen in bitcoin price when it went to $270 ,what happened very shortly after ?

This is a Bitcoin example, but there are lots of others ,if anyone has an example of a financial chart showing vertical increases without being followed by an equally sharp decrease I would be surprised to see it .

More recently we saw a vertical decreace in price sharply followed by an immediate vertical increase.

If that chart were price related ,then it would be a perfect short oppotunity ,although history proves humans are more prone to buy in such situations .

Nice and thanks for the calculator, still trying out but overall looks pretty decent.

A small problem that I found, I can't seems to find a place to change the kwh price. What is your default kwh price?

The default kWh price is 15 cents. I'll put this on website. Probably it needs to be customizable.

Is this calculator predict the future difficult rate based on past developments ? like the calculator at
http://www.vnbitcoin.org/bitcoincalculator.php

Bitcoin difficulty prediction graph. either it take the default growth rate or user can input .  I put in 40 % .

Yes, basically it takes current network hash rate and applies the growth rate specified by user, difficulty calculations are based on network hash rate.

Great
Just what I wanted, to calculate old investments ROI

But now I see that Current Difficulty (M) is wrong: 8000.87, now the value is: 13462 M

Thank You

Why not add the current 'hotcake' miners to the list?

Pretty cool should add the bitmaintech equipment like the antminer s1 s2 and s3 in default list. Also is there any place to edit kwh costs?

The OP was last on in Jan of this year and this was posted in the middle/end of 2013.  I'm pretty sure this is an abandoned project that unfortunately some newbie has zombified the thread.  This is an outdated calculator.

BitReturn never managed to get the site's name known in the community. If you like the functionality that much, why don't you copy it to another site and promote the new one?

If you do start a new one, PLEASE don't base difficulty increases on monthly percentages. They should be based on the real factor - every 2016 blocks. If you know the hash rate, it's easy to calculate what amount you will mine per 2016 blocks and you can use the % increase per 2016 blocks to estimate actual dates. For example, if you're expecting each diff adjustment to increase by 15%, then you know that 2016 blocks will take 12.17 days (14 days / 1.15). Also, allow for a decreasing (or increasing) modifier on the change percentage itself.

Hi,

Great calculator though but I must say, still lack of profit details. The profit details in the graph could lead to USD or BTC. Although it is stated BTC above it.

One more thing though if you could put in a difficulty line inside the profit graph would be great especially the predicted difficulties to have better understanding how well the asset will be on that certain period.

Profits are always in BTC. Expressing profits in local currencies like USD, EUR, Chinese Yuan, etc, makes no sense since you could always by and hold BTC at the moment of the purchase, in which case profits in fiat are wrong because they don't count for long-term BTC rise. There's no need for any other option, and if you look closely no profit calculator express it in local currencies.
