Title: [CLOSED]R6: KnC Jupiter,BELOW COST+HOST, $78 +Bonuses. Hashing, 1st payouts sent
Post by: DyslexicZombei on October 01, 2013, 06:31:29 PM
10/6: This miner is due in Minnesota tomorrow! After brief testing R5/R6 Jupiters will head to Missouri for professional colocation hosting with biz insurance with double vetted miner host bobsag3.

10/1 AM Update: All Pau! (done) R5 has been 100% reserved and payments have been incoming. Here's Round 6!

Thanks everyone! Great job and congratulations Thomas & -Redacted-! R5 was the 2nd fastest GB sellout for an Industrial Rig AFAIK (coming in 2nd place to R3).  ;D

Demand was so great: we've opened up Round 6, for the co-op's SECOND KnC miner (to go along with our 4 HashFast rigs).

95 86 55 53 ZERO shares available out of 100! [Actual #s may be lower as R5 reservations are adjusted by priority later today.]

-Redacted- has confirmed that the R5 bonuses extend to R6. This is the last of -R-'s BELOW COST Day 1 Jupiters available to the DZ MC.

===

9/30 AM Update: Game on! -Redacted- is selling his KnC Jupiter BELOW-COST! That's right, we're selling these shares at $75 78 per share worth 4-6GH/s per share including UPS/Battery backup acquisition for Power Filtering and about 20 minutes of Battery Backup. These shares are for a KnC Jupiter which should be shipping soon if you've been following KnC updates. Round 6 is on!

Round 6: Discounted KnC Jupiter #2, another Day 1 PAID miner in the KnC order Q.  ;D

UPDATE: Delivery could be as early as October 7 but is projected to arrive between October 7-15 after a short burn in test by -Redacted- at his home.

To reserve shares automatically and for easiest spreadsheet export,
please visit the new DZ Miner's Coop website.

This KnC miner is slated for an early to mid-October estimated delivery.

KnC Order 353, Round 5 GB Details:

http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll87/SurfSkateKauai/DZMinersCooperative-Jupiters-Round5-BelowCost.png

Below Cost! From -Redacted-  via PM:

"I have 4 Jupiters that are going to be headed down to XXXXXXXXX's for hosting.
I'll eat the first months hosting costs on them.
I'll eat the PSU cost on them
I'll eat the shipping cost on them
(You can owe me some future consideration...)"

That's correct. For a limited time: someone else will *pay* these required associated miner costs for you! Your first two miner payouts will also be free!

Additional Round 5 + Round 6 Guarantee from -Redacted-!

This had better arrive before November 1st as stated on the OP - I'm actually expecting it to be be mining next week.  KNC started their order numbering at 300 when they opened things up for pre-orders.  This Jupiter should be the 53rd order out the door...

If it isn't mining by October 15th at the latest, I hereby volunteer to refund everyone, 100%.  How's that for a performance guarantee?

Here's the launch video, and the official KNC hahrate declaration for the Jupiter...

-Redacted-: Owner of the KnC Jupiter Miner. Thanks man! Also: DZ Miners Cooperative Boxed Set owner in R1-R5! Send Paypal payments to -Redacted-   PM CC -Redacted- and thomas_s please.

thomas_s - Vetted co-GBC during R3/R4. R2 member. Primary GBC for Round 5. Set up Online Auto Reservations for the co-op! Thank you! Send BTC payments and questions for R5 to thomas_s .  PMM CC -Redacted- and thomas_s please.

jungle_dave: Vetted Co-op member and Former Electrical Engineer / Network Engineer. Backup Admin #1 for co-op miners.

======================================================================================================

...And Introducing to the GB Forum: Auto Reservations!

Thank you to vetted GBC thomas_s who has worked hard to put up a site to automate reservations so that there's no confusion and no double orders! It'll also make auto-export to spreadsheets much, much simpler for GBs, going forward.

cypherdoc is selling some of his Order #1 Baby Jets because he can't or doesn't want to host them all at his house. He still supports HashFast, he just bought too many units.

That Order number isn't a typo. This is the very first shipment heading out the doors from HashFast:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=303585.0
Seller prematurely ended sale.

Please contact thomas_s for questions and payments or to manually confirm your reservations, as I'm taking a break from GBs and am in more of a Miner Cooperative Support Role for this particular new model Group Buy (and potentially others). If you have questions about Round 5 unit hosting please contact bobsag3.

1 share is $75 $78 per share, which gives you 1/100th of the miner's hashrate. This is a BELOW COST, or discounted, share price, with no markup built into the share price! UPDATE: $3 per share will be added for UPS/Battery Backup for reasons listed below. New 9/30/13 Updated share price is $78 per share, which is a discount share price for a unit shipping very, very soon.

Since this is a 400-600GH/s unit, that works out to 4-6GH/s per share for this Order #353. Unit will be hosted at bobsag3 at the world's lowest hosting/management fees of 2.75%, for a limited time. This should arrive between now and November 1 (estimated) with express next day AM shipping. Incremental and monitored Overclocking will be implemented as we'll be keeping things nice and chilly.

Edit: -Redacted- is guaranteeing October 15 operations or your money back!

Your share price includes acquisition of an estimated 20 minutes of UPS/Battery Backup included in the discounted share price to keep BTC flowing during: short outages (blackouts), voltage sags (brownouts), and voltage spikes, as well as to provide power filtering.

** Round 5 BONUS: -Redacted- is paying shipping *AND* PSU costs *AND* the 1st month of hosting. **

Unreal!

Thanks once again to -Redacted- : DZ Miners Cooperative Boxed Set share owner and the seller of discounted KnC Jupiter miner shares!
This makes the 3rd miner buyout attempted for this co-op, with the first two, R2 and R5, being big successes.

===

If you have questions as to how this whole darn at-cost, Democratic Miners Cooperative that's also a mesh network works, please send me a PM or state your concerns publicly as there's nothing to hide in this co-op.  :)

Only hurtful or trolling posts will be deleted as we welcome all valued opinions, insights, concerns, and improvement ideas to improve our at-cost (or even below cost) cooperative of 37 members (so far).

Reserved for Round 6 Payment Details (Similar to R5)

EDIT: Thomas will adjust the site to reflect R6 when he gets a chance.

For now: please leave your reservations and/or Tx IDs below until the site gets updated. Thanks!

========================================================================

BTC Payments will be directed to thomas_s for R6 and R5 but I will have co-admin to this wallet for auditing or for payments if we're in a rush. He's done 3 GBs under my tutelage, and he ably led R5 with -Redacted- and I helping him.

9/30 AM UPDATE:

-Redacted-: Owner of the KnC Jupiter Miner for Round 7. Thanks man! Send Paypal payments to him.  DZ MC Boxed Set owner! PM CC -Redacted- and thomas_s please.

thomas_s - co-GBC during R3/R4. R2 member. Primary GBC for Round 5/6. Send BTC payments and questions for R5 to thomas_s . Set up Online Auto Reservations for the co-op! Thank you! PM CC -Redacted- and thomas_s please.

DZ - Need escrowed Group Buy shares? For a 2% extra fee you get 3rd party fund holding, dispute resolution, and $500 insurance per transaction at BTCrow. [DISCLAIMER: I, DyslexicZombei, am an approved Escrow Affiliate at BTCrow.] Please PM Carbon Copy -Redacted- and thomas_s please prior to escrow payment.

Let's wish him luck on his 2nd solo Rig GB! G'luck Thomas!

Thomas is handling questions and collecting payments for R5/R6 (unless you require Escrow, in which case you can PM me). He set up the automated reservation site and the GB with my input. Great work Thomas, and it's definitely an improvement over me trying to keep up w/ an avalanche of PMs and payments.  :P

I will still handle:

- Ordering
- Shipping details
- (Optional) Escrowed GB shares for those that insist on Escrow Protection from a 3rd party for: holding BTC funds, post-sales dispute resolution, $500 insurance per transaction at 2% extra cost to share price. Semi-automated Escrow is done thru BTCrow.
- Remote miner setup
- Remote troubleshooting/
- Incremental overclocking
- Payouts or assist in payouts
- Auditing hashrate vis-a-vis payouts
- Dispute resolution and arbitration, if necessary. [Should be rare as we're all adults that don't need to yell. :P]

Refunds: If we can't raise the funds to buy a discounted Batch 1 KnC Miner, Day 1 Jupiter #2, you will be refunded or offered shares in Rounds 1-4 which can be found on this GB Forum under my user name. There's no restock fee during this fundraising period.

Great points. He had originally offered 4 miners to the co-op and we're taking him up on his offer for an additional co-op miner now.

I copy/pasted from R5 but let's not assume anything about bonuses until he chimes in himself.

Also, the site may not be quite ready. Been so busy (and hurtin' w/ a bad arm) I still need to get admin on the site myself so I can help him out on that end when he's not avail. Please leave your reservations below. If you change your mind because the bonuses were only for R5, no hard feelings.

Thanks.

If I were to purchase the remaining 95 shares and make 2x what they are worth buyout offers to the other 5 shares would this be able to be shipped to me - As in I OWN IT?

Hey it's a free world (for the most part).

If you can take advantage of an arbitrage opportunity please feel free to contact -Redacted- directly to buy out one of his KnC Jupiters entirely and skipping this GB entirely which is aimed at miners with smaller budgets and for those who are most comfortable hedging their bets by spreading their bets.

He has 3 Jupiters available (was 4 but we reserved shares for 1 so far). If you make him an offer he can't refuse, perhaps he'll sell you one outright.

==

Ok, drilling down into a few dozen PMs so I'll be away from this thread. Hopefully, -R- or Thomas will be available soon to help answer questions and manually tally reservations until the site's synced and updated.

As for PM/public R5 reservations: I may have to tell some people the (somewhat) bad news that they may have been bumped to R6 if they were beaten to the punch for the last shares.

I will close out the sites R5 purchase now, not sure if everyone has paid but I'll close it and work out the details of that later. Was just emailed by the website that the product went into backorder =) so no need to do any of this.

I'll be posting an R6 with less shares available to compensate for any reserves that happen.

Tonight after work ~6 hours from now I'll finish up the spreadsheet for R5 and start R6.

If you are put on the backorder / reserve an R6 and there are still R5's available you will be put in R5. If you've reserved shares I must cut you down to a time limit to pay you have 24 hours to pay or to make arrangements to pay.

R6 was posted on the site.

Quick update the website decided to start working as intended and now places paid orders in "Processing" when payment hits the blockchain.

Last night I spent a few hours looking at the db, the sites code and a ton of google gave up went to bed went to work and now its all of a sudden working.

I will still manually look over every order (one reason I still need to make sure the spread sheet is correct) if your order is paid and not marked as processing or completed by tomorrow please send me a PM on the forum with the Order#.

I have already been paid for 1mo hosting for all 4 of the potential jupiters, so that answers that.

Quick update before diving back to the PM avalanche:

-Redacted- has confirmed that the R5 bonuses extend to R6 and to any other Jupiters that might be hosted.

However, it's possible that the other 2 Jupiters may have been sold outright via PM so this might be the only other Discounted Jupiter this Co-op can offer at the moment.

Hello,
Price is mentioned in USD does that mean we can pay in that?  I'm expecting some extra money by next week and was wondering if I have to convert to btc first.  Thanks.

We price it that way to protect buyers/sellers from BTC volatility and only when the product is priced in USD. We've figured out that if you use Bitstamp's rate when you do your BTC or PayPal payment, this seems to be the fairest method of BTC/USD payment.

Contact -R- for PP payments, thomas_s for BTC payments (via our site: dzminercoop.com ), or if you need Escrowed shares please send me a PM so I can set up a BTCrow transaction for you.

Approximately 86 shares available!

Why do I get the feeling that these won't last long either.  ;D

Yes...

  • I'm paying the import fees and customs brokerage fees.
  • I'm paying the setup fees and first months worth of hosting.
  • The PSU is already purchased for this.
  • I'm shipping this down to be hosted at my own expense.
  • I'm willing to offer a 100% refund to everyone that buys in if this isn't in place and hashing for the GB by October 15th, 2013...

I think it's a good deal and a fairly safe bet...

Hello,
Price is mentioned in USD does that mean we can pay in that?  I'm expecting some extra money by next week and was wondering if I have to convert to btc first.  Thanks.

Yes, I'm also taking the risk of receiving PayPal payments - something I'm not especially excited about, but I've learned my lessons after being conned out of many thousands of dollars by them.

I will be documenting the arrival and unboxing of the machine, shipment to hosting, and auditing payouts to sharehoulders - so there shouldn't be any issues with someone attempting fraudulent chargebacks.

PM me for a payment email address if you want to pay for some shares via PayPal...

Please don't oversell this one.  When the last share for this GB is gone, then that's it.

It looks like someone wants to make me an offer for one of the Jupiters I can't refuse.  So I'm down to three.  The third Jupiter will be down at the bobsag3 hosting location hashing for me, but, honestly, I mostly want that third Jupiter there and in place as a spare just in case something goes wrong with one of the two group buy boxes.  (The third box could quickly be re-configured and swapped in as a group-buy machine while the broken box  goes back to Sweden for repair.)  So we should only sell shares in two of them to allow for that third one to function as a spare, just in case...

Trying to stay one step ahead of Murphy and his laws, don't you know....

The third Jupiter will be down at the bobsag3 hosting location hashing for me, but, honestly, I mostly want that third Jupiter there and in place as a spare just in case something goes wrong with one of the two group buy boxes.  (The third box could quickly be re-configured and swapped in as a group-buy machine while the broken box  goes back to Sweden for repair.)  So we should only sell shares in two of them to allow for that third one to function as a spare, just in case...

you are a great guy. i feel really good about this. thank you!

Hello,
Price is mentioned in USD does that mean we can pay in that?

Yup, I'm trying to keep that in mind as I go thru the PM backlog (up to 50-60 PMs today).

We're *definitely* going to have to move some shares from R5 to R6 based on what I've seen so far. I'll hurry to get a more concrete answer w/ what I've received via PM.

Reserving 31 additional R5 shares from PM overflow for R5 (could actually be a few more once I take another look at PMs)

CLOSED until further notice.

We may have sold out; the accounting takes a bit longer with 3 gents involved & we don't want to oversell this below cost miner.

Please send a PM to Thomas if you'd like to be added to the backup Share list if shares free up due to people dropping out or non-payment after 48 hours.

There's a good chance some shares may be available in R6 (if not in R5 and R6 then somewhere in R1-R4) so please feel free to send in your reservations for any backup shares that may be available.

10/1 PM Update.

For now: Please do not to send PMs to Thomas or rush him for spreadsheet code at the moment until he gets caught up.

If you have pressing concerns please PM me & I will collect them for forwarding to either -R-, Thomas, or both.

I may have missed some PMs in the avalanche I'll need to go back thru but I seem to be caught up to PMs at the moment (about 8 hrs later). See: if we go gentle on his inbox he *might* uncover 5 or 10 more shares that are double ordered or were phantom orders.

For the good of the co-op: There's always a method to my particular madness.  :D ;D

I know I did 4 different orders for  a total of 15 shares.  so 15 % of a 550gh miner = more then 80gh for about 9 btc or 1170 usd I hope this all works out.  80gh is nice

Yup, I have you down for 9 shares in R3, 6 in R4 when Thomas & I compare notes, and me owing you $525 for R1 UPS/Battery Backup in about a week and a half. In hindsight, $525 (with a good chunk out of my pocket) may have been overkill for our R1 BabyJet's UPS/Batts to be utilized by firsttimeuser but we all benefit, eheh.

The spreadsheets have been made and are being reviewed / compared to our records.

If your staying up to check on it I'd suggest not doing so as it is highly possible that it will be up tomorrow night (we want to make sure we have everything in right).

Notes before you see them,
-orders were not combined if you placed 3 orders you are listed 3 times.

-all purchases are assumed to be anonymous unless  you specified it either in PM or as an order note. (Do not PM me now asking to be listed as public wait until the spreadsheet is shown)

-most orders from the site didn't include bitcointalk user names, the "first name" on your checkout is used for the username or if you placed a note on your order.

Watching cat videos on YouTube doesn't count unless you've sub'ed the work out to someone else in China.  :D

I really was only kidding.  Honest.

I sincerely apologize, MC, if that comment came across wrong or was offensive.  It was meant to be a joke...   :-[

It was based on the programmer that won various development awards, up until the time that someone found out that he had outsourced all his development work to a team of Chinese programmers, and basically just sat around for about a year watching cat videos on YouTube  while waiting for them to email him his code for the day...

Just up on edge because some people already have tracking numbers for their day-1 orders, and ours are still just sitting there "PROCESSING".

As best I can tell, they should go out tomorrow - it appears that KNC only just-barely got started shipping orders today.    It's going to be really tight getting them here by Friday, and I really was hoping to have them hashing for the two GBs over the weekend.

That would almost have to be some kind of record-time for a group buy to go from "JUST OPENED" to "CLOSED AND HASHING".

We'll see, should be able to tell tomorrow once we get tracking numbers....

EDIT:  Everyone please make sure we have the mining payout wallet address that you want your R5/R6 mining proceeds to be sent to...

Woohoo! You rock! The co-operative's first operational miners are the ones bought last, eheh. Copied from R5 thread for those that aren't in R5:

Thanks again for your hard work -R-. We're all pulling for you, obviously.

Wow, so exciting that the first of the co-op's miners to go into action tomorrow (at least for testing) are ironically the last two purchased.  ;D

-R- sent me updated pics on the Jupiter's shipping you can see:

- in my photo gallery or
- at our new site www.dzminercoop.com (thanks to thomas_s )
- or at our new subreddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/dzminercoop/

We definitely are "The lil co-op that could" and we adapted and still took care of business, selling out R6 even without the help of our home forum here.

With that in mind, I'm heading to bed & will begin catching up on my backlog of PMs tomorrow.

Please feel free to re-send your PM to me if you think that your PM may have been lost in the (not so) great forum outage of Fall 2013.

Didn't consider it as nasty, facts are pretty much facts.  Actually it was a good catch - alerted me to the fact that I screwed up on your ID and may have screwed up other stuff - and that I had better go back and double-check everything against the spreadsheet.  Thanks for catching that !

No.no.no.no....   Please.  Stop sending me money.   Aaargh.....

The problem is, I don't have a good idea of when the third or fourth boxes are going to show up, so I can't give anyone a guarantee of when they would be hashing - and 500 Gh/s this week is worth more than 500 Gh/s next week...

Yes, please stop throwing money at -R- for R6.  :D  ;D

We've been sold out since yesterday while the forum was still down. We're still sorting out the oversold situation but we're going to do our best to accommodate people into R5-R6. There's discussions about moving the R6 overflow to a 3rd Jupiter -R- was sending to Missouri to be a backup miner for the co-op. If necessary, the 3 GB Coordinators organizing R5/R6 have agreed to reduce our shares in these two rounds to try to help accommodate late orders.

Please stop sending PP & BTC for R6 as it's done and now oversold.

Thomas_s is working on something to use the BTCGuild API keys to display current stats.

Finishing up some hardware stuff - don't panic, I'll get the GB-6 spreadsheet out soon.  Your shares were the last 8 in R5, as I recall....

Thanks to mootinator the site now shows the worker stats from BTC Guild.

His amazing troubleshooting (try deleting and retyping it) worked flawlessly. Remember when in doubt hit the restart button.

Haha was just checking, thank you so much for everything you've been doing.  ;)
For R6 I had bought 2 shares before the announcement of the big 37 shares buy.

These guys kick ass but I'm not sure if they remembered to take names before they started the kicking of asses.  ;D

Received this from our R2 Seller of HF Order 616:

"The KnC miners are ok. I have several terahash. Believe it or not I am still waiting for one more "day 1" unit which is only "in progress"

Looks like it will be more like day 10+

Oh an the ASIC board of one blew up (each Jupiter has 4 separate ASIC boards)

Yeah - I have two like that, not the blown up kind, the stuck in the "IN PROGRESS" state kind - since the first of October.

I sent KnC an email asking why two out of three of my orders that were paid for at the same time are still stuck in "IN PROGRESS".
Received tracking numbers a few hours later....   Yay!!!

Since Monday October 14th is a holiday in the US, they will likely arrive here on Tuesday October 15th.  So, once the second Jupiter is running, I'll owe the GB 5/6 shareholders 8 days worth of hashing...  The other machine in that order is a Saturn which I owe some hashing on to another person....

Yeah - you might have to rustle up a 140 MM fan for the first one, if you plan to run it with the case on.

It runs faster/smoother/cooler with the lid off.  Believe me, I don't need multiple Jupiters hashing in my apartment - unless I make plans to re purpose it as a sauna or something.

Uh oh...  Hey DZ - did 4 more R6 shares slip away that I didn't know about and that I need to sandwich into R6 still?

Dang.  Mr. DickMs is going to end up owning my whole Saturn box - and it hasn't even had a chance to arrive yet...  I might just need to have it shipped straight to him....

yeah it happened when the forum was down. I think they are not listed above.

I am pretty flexible, but you are just about the only group buy that has done well for me.

1)  My knc buy at this  link is a mess

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=238336.360   I am not sure what will happen

2)  My bitfury buy here is cancelled and refunded

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=223746.0

3) my bitfury buy here is delayed

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=296301.0

4)my cloudhashing contract will lose more then 600 usd  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=173316.0

5) bfl my jan 2012 gear is not delivered. and I am banned as a troll on their forum for doing price comparsions of  jallys to am sticks.

I think they are not listed above either.  I'll get you into GB6 and bump another 4 shares from DickMS onto my Saturn.  NO - these Saturn shares are NOT FOR SALE.

You guys are buying out all my hardware faster than I can get it shipped to me.

Well, I'm certainly trying to make GB5 and GB6 run smoothly.  5 more days to full hardware.  A week after that I'll start making up the hashrate difference....

as I currently understand it.Actually I
1. R6, 10 shares, paid in BTC (overage of fractional BTC donated)
2. R6, 7 shares, paid by PP to Bob
3. R6, 37 shares, paid by PP to Bob, reduced to 24 shares because of other buyers
4. R7, (37-24=13)x$78 worth of $70 shares, already paid with the overage in #3 above. Since this is not an even division, I'm good with only 14 shares, keeping the $34 overage against future buys in R7
5. I have offered to buy any unsold shares in R7 whenever you decide to close the deal. That offer stands until the end of 2013, at which point I suspect it becomes moot, but can be renewed if circumstances require.

Where can I see the official acknowledgement of the above accounting? No hurry, just wanted to be certain that my R7 buyin was accounted for, and get things official at some point.

Thanks, guys!
DickMS

Consider this the official acknowledgement.  And I'm going to note that 'R7" as used here is actually "R6-B" to avoid confusion.  Actually I'm going to bump you another 4 shares onto my R6-B Saturn, which should start mining on Friday evening.

And if you look at the post just before this, you'll see the first cut of the GB-6 spreadsheet....

Oh - can I merge the shares of you and MuddlinThru ?

Sigh - I used to work for American Totalisator - the folks who make the horse-racing track displays and betting-ticket selling systems. Their standard system at the time was a pair of racks, with 3 Varian minis in each, connected by a DRUM storage system!!! The first time I was shown into the "'tote-room", which is where the racks are installed, and where the odds are continuously calculated with each ticket purchase (parimutuel, dontcha know), I stood in the middle of the room, pointed at the racks, and said "Why does it take THAT much horsepower to sell bets?"... At that very moment, in both racks in perfect parallel, the minis stopped, consecutively, from top to bottom. Blink, blink, blink... blank. As the implications of a contractual $10,000 penalty for every hour in which a single minute of down-time occurred sank in, I was hustled out of the room. I am now (still, 30 some years later) banned from every tote-room in the US.... and they made up a sign for my desk: "Shorter and his trail of broken equipment..."

Edit: I'm just glad they didn't label me "Typhoid Dickie" or "Basilisk" or some such - I was 15 feet away from the racks at the time!

Edit#2: I PROMISE I WON'T VISIT THE CO-OP's CO-LO! EVER!

Yes- received your PM.   You should be correct now.  Also made you non-anonymous.

And... here's the R6 payout spreadsheet.  PLEASE, everyone, double check payout addresses since the first payout will be done in less than a week..

DZ - I guess this can go up on the OP if no corrections come in over the next day or so...

speaking of payouts.

every other week?  =  14 days
once a week?         =        7 days
twice a week?        =           3 or 4 days.

I am sure we have it posted I just can't find it.

we are at 3 coins  for both 5+6,  but should be at 6 since we are short a machine.

Payouts every two weeks.  Actually I plan to make them bi-monthly, rather than every two weeks - sent out on the 1st and 15th...

This first payout may be a little late - on the 16th or 17th - due to the logistics involved in shipping a machine down to hosting and getting us up to our promised 100% hashrate.  Once that happens, I'll have to do manual payouts of whatever amount hasn't been paid out yet from  BTCGuild  so we have all the 50% hashrate mined BTC in the wallets.

Once the BTCGuild manual payouts confirm in the group-buy wallets, I'll do the BTC match for that first mining period - send that to the wallets, then calculate and send the per share payout of that doubled amount to both groups of shareholders...

It sounds a lot  more complicated than it really is....

Yes - it's over the minimum limit so it ought to be paid out due to inactivity.  That's another reason the first payment will be a little late - the inactivity payout there won't kick in until the 15th, and we would have to wait for that payout to happen.

It's a tiny enough amount that I might just cover it and pay myself back once Eligius actually sends the coins.  We're talking what, 0.15 BTC total for both GBs?

Thanks again mootinator. I appreciate your contributions. I'm humbled by all the pro bono work and collaborations I've seen within this Cooperative. We *really* do cooperate and it's not just an empty description.

For myself: My first program ran with BASIC on a C-64 (64 mighty kilobytes of RAM: for *everything*), and was of a balloon floating into the digital sky. I actually spent a couple of years in CompSci back in the day, learning Pascal & later on Java before I had the revelation that I didn't want to spend the rest of my life squashing bugs made from my own incompetence.

BTW: an announcement.  :(

I won't go into details, but some heavy RL stuff happened near -R- so please go easy on him for requests & such, if you can for a bit. He's fine & I won't hurt our friendship by revealing what happened but I'd appreciate it if you gals & guys can give him some time/space.

If you have some urgent matters related to R5/R6, please contact Thomas or myself first.

Thank you.

Nothing to worry about - a friend of mine just died rather unexpectedly under weird circumstances.

Ugh I know what you mean I've had 2 of those this year. (One last week.) And yet the world, jerk that it is, keeps turning.

Howdy All,

The R5/R6 Jupiter is down.

My wife will probably be able to try power cycling it shortly.  If that doesn't work it will have to wait until I get home from work in another 6 hours.

Sorry about that, and I have no idea what the problem is. Thomas_s alerted me to the fact that the hashrate dropped way down this morning.  I logged in remotely and cgminer was just throwing strange errors.  An attempt to reboot the machine remotely didn't work and the machine dropped offline.

Problem with Jupiter seems to be that the PSU decided to take a break.  In this configuration and the speed we're hashing, we're probably pulling 950 watts out of an 850 watt rated PSU...

And here's more shiney stuff that was waiting for me to get home.  All the boxes rattle - going to have to pop the lids and fix the heatsink fans....:

He bought them all in one order, first day they went on sale.  Must be why it took them so long to get through June 26th orders for singles....

50 * 1300 watts each.  Hate to be paying his electric bill....

Depends on what you mean - the cutoff for this first payout period will be some time this afternoon.  There's been hardware hashing for both group buys since, what, the 4th roughly?  So the terms of the guarantee were met - hardware hashing by the 15th - and the payout coming tomorrow (or the next day) will make sure it is equal to what 100% hardware would have produced (once I do the match), so no one should feel shorted.

Good company there on the desk - that Redhash machine is an awesome piece of engineering.  You should pop the lid off the Jupiter, the airflow through the case pretty much sucks.

Star. SD-20.

Just requested a manual payout from BTCGuild for the current balances.  Will be matching those funds later this evening.  First GB payout will be tomorrow evening - to allow everyone 24 hours to double check their info.  Keep an eye out for an email headed out to all the GB members and check your payout info carefully when you receive it.

Nice work gents! That was the co-op's first miner payouts and the first shipment of co-op ordered equipment.

Thanks for sharing new pics of the co-op's equipment. We budget for about 20 minutes of UPS backup protection for everything we purchase.

The  growth and success of our co-op has meant that we could allocate extra funds to a gas generator, extra UPS units (there's more on the way), a dedicated AC unit just for us, a custom cooled cabinet, and even a 4G modem/router for even more network redundancy during long outages.

Your co-op BTC, at work. :)

QUESTION  since R5 and R6 are my all time best preorders and have paid out unlike so many other group buys I was wondering ( actually I forgot).  are the payouts twice a month? so the next one would be about oct 31 or nov 1st?

Thanks phil

Yes.  Well... They're actually bi-monthly rather than every two weeks.  The payouts are calculated on the 1st and 15th of each month, so we're 8 days away from the next one.

The co-op payouts are usually every 2 weeks, but -R- opted for the 1st and 15th since he's doing the payouts.

The hosting/management fees are the same percentage, its just that the payouts will be about 1/14th larger when this schedule is used.

I don't know what the story is here.  The payments went out, and there was a transaction ID generated, but the TxID doesn't show up on the blockchain...

Does anyone have any idea what to do in a case like this ??

Did that - doesn't seem to change anything...    It still shows the money spent, but the transaction sending it doesn't seem to exist...

I'll let it go overnight.  If it doesn't clear by in the morning, I'll try contacting the Bitcoin-QT developers to see if they can figure out what happened...

It looks like there was a short blip.  It's not noticeable at all on the daily charts, but it had to be under an hour since it didn't hit zero on an hourly chart.  I would guess that someone at the hosting facility noticed the hashrate drop and rebooted the Jupiter.

I was SSH'ed into the box and watched the cgminer crash. It seems like Box #2 needs to be rebooted every 48 hours.

I'll build a cron job tonight that automatically reboots a KnC box at midnight and test it on my Saturn since it seems to have the same kind f problem.  Once I'm sure it's working properly we can implement that on box-2.  I wonder if this is being caused by some sort of memory leak in that version of cgminer?

I heard rumors of a .98.1 release being tested by various people, but I haven't kept up with the KnC news lately so I don't know if that was made official yet or not.

EDIT:

The linux operating system that KnC uses doesn't have crontab available....   Ugh...

In USD terms, we're at about +5% ROI.   I wonder if we'll see Bitcoin at $300 next week?  w00t !!

The next payout is scheduled for Friday November 15th.  That will be the first payout that hosting fees will need to come out of.  And speaking of hosting fees, I need to call a vote on making a correction to the original terms of the GB which states that hosting fees are 2.75%.

The problem here is that hosting costs are in USD, not BTC, and the electricity, internet, rent, utilities, maintenance fees, and all the other hosting expenses need to be paid in USD.  In US Dollar terms, the hosting fee is $200 per month, or $100 every payout.  (That's a special GB reduction from the original $220 per month that I originally paid for hosting.)

This amount is almost 50% less than KnC charges for hosting, and about 30% less than CoinTerra plans to charge for hosting.   In short, it's a very good deal at $200 per month.  Paid this way we can continue operating the machines until they aren't mining approximately 0.3 BTC every two weeks - probably well into next year.

On the other hand, as difficulty rises, 2.75% probably won't cover the hosting costs past the next payout - it drops below the cost of hosting when the machines don't return at least 11 BTC every two weeks.  So, the bottom line is this, either we modify the original 2.75% terms to be $200 per month, or we have to shut down the machines much earlier than we really need to.

I vote my 5 shares of R5 and R6 for modifying the terms of the GB to change the 2.75% to be $200 per month so we can continue hashing longer.

Votes, please?

I vote for modifying the terms so we can keep hashing.
I also see people reselling Knc miners for 7000-8500, this could be a nice ROI option if the difficulty kept rising and btc stalled (right now it is up to $316!)

You have to love the value of BTC lately  :o

The hosting fees are charged per machine, so $200 per month per machine.  The $100 fee every-two-weeks for hosting each GB machine would be calculated in BTC at the time I do the payouts.  With BTC at $318, that's less than 0.3 BTC for each.

Sure, I'll vote my 3 shares to pay fees in fiat, assuming I understand what we're voting for.

Good point Philip.

Locking both threads and starting an R5-R6 combined discussion thread.
