MARKET Protocol (“MARKET”) provides an opportunity for crypto holders to gain exposure to both real-world and digital assets through derivatives using crypto-based assets as collateral on the Ethereum blockchain.

As an open source protocol governed by its participants, MARKET does not levy any fees or extract value from the system. The protocol provides the interoperability necessary for order routing and other trading activities on the blockchain. By utilizing a shared collateral pool, MARKET introduces a systemically responsible alternative to traditional leverage.

Third party projects can build decentralized applications or “dApps” on top of the protocol, giving the non-technical Trader the ability to easily interact with the underlying blockchain technology. The internal team is preparing to release the first dApp for public beta that allows users to create MARKET contracts and explore previously deployed contracts.

MARKET will provide exposure for Traders to other cross-chain crypto assets without having to manage multiple exchanges or take custody of a separate asset. MKT will be the base token of the MARKET ecosystem and benefits from integration into all facets of MARKET. Peer-to-peer trading is free on MARKET and no fees are native to the protocol. Nodes providing order book hosting and management will have the option to set and collect transaction fees for offering this service. Orders submitted without the required transaction fee may be rejected by the node. These transaction fees will be collected by the nodes in MKT.

 MKT holders will also have a vote in protocol improvements and development. This ensures both users and projects using  MARKET Protocol have a voice in the protocol’s future.

 Token Use
1.Contract Access: ​Initially, participants are required to post 25 MKT tokens along withthe appropriate base token (for collateral) to trade each user-defined contract. MKTposted in this way is returned to the user when they stop trading a specific contractor upon expiration.

2.Transaction fees:​ Nodes provide a service to users of MARKET Protocol and inexchange for this service, may charge a transaction fee denominated in MKT. Eachnode sets its own fee for the service.. Nodes are expected to differentiatethemselves on the fees and services provided giving users many choices forexecution.

3.Settlement: ​For accuracy and autonomy, most contracts will automatically settle topublicly accessible oracle solutions. In the event of a settlement disagreement, or adisrupted settlement process, MARKET intends to a employ number of solutionsincluding,  backup oracles or a crowd sourced resolution pulled from the pool ofMKT holders.

4.Contract Creation:​ Initially, users will be required to hold a minimum of 500 MKT tocreate a new trading contract. The purpose of this arbitrary holding is to encouragethoughtful contract creation.

5.Protocol Decisions:​ We expect MKT token holders to vote on protocol decisions anddevelopment. This will include things like number of MKT tokens required forcontract access or creation as indicated above. The more MKT an account holds; themore influence it will have. We are currently in process of building the first version of our beta dApp, which would be an introduction to contract creation and deployment process. The second beta should be out towards the end of the spring 2018 which will be a simulated exchange on testnet. In Q3/Q4 we expect to launch on Mainnet.

Q1 2019 – We fill focus on building our partner / new oracle solutions, Q2 2019 MARKET Portfolio tracker, Standardized Node API. Q3/Q4 2019 – Continue building partnerships and working on aggregating liquidity over nodes, decentralized governance and dispute resolution. 2020 – Improve scaling and matching. Focus on delivering lower latency and higher throughput solutions.

A Third-party relayer can be anyone interested in building dApps on top of the protocol, so either companies or developers looking to provide sustainable solutions are welcome, since the protocol is open-source. A good example would be Radar Relay that has built a DEX on top of Ox protocol. We however, represent a different type of product, since MARKET contracts are not A to B spot trading type of instrument, but something similar to futures contracts, with some differences and advantages over traditional futures, like 100% fully collateralized trades and decentralized custody and funds settlement.

MARKET Protocol allows dex’s to extend their product offerings to both of these asset types. By using an oracle solution to create a derivative contract, we can allow for a diverse universe of products all tradeable with ERC20 tokens as collateral in a decentralized fashion. Imagine going on to your favorite dex, and seeing pairs like ETH/BTC or ETH/Monero and being able to easily trade these products.

All funds that are used to trade a derivative as collateral are going to be posted in a smart contract collateral pool. Even though Ethereum network can sometimes be congested,
and our contracts are subjected to it for on chain for positions, accounting, collateral and a few other items. Order book hosts however are off chain.
