With most pools, your reported hash-rate is based off of shares over time. GUIMiner reports the 'actual' hash-rate. If the pool is reporting a higher hash-rate than what your 'actual' hash-rate is, you're getting 'lucky' solving each share. This is normal variance. In case of deepbit it shows you an average speed in the last 10 minutes. Your mh/s will be stable - but your share rate isn`t because auf stale shares and variance. This 10 Minutes you`re lucky and it shows more - next 10 minutes your unlucky and the interface shows less. Like Kermee says. It made me feel like I was getting away with something ;D It means you're solving shares ~10% faster than your card should be, in that timeframe. You might also see it dip to 550-480 during unlucky streaks, that's normal. Is the display output from one of my poclbm miners, and the (~ MH) is one of the newer, and my favorite stat that I basically look at as local luck. As I understand it, the first number is how many hashes hashed from the miners point of view. The estimate is a timed based average depending on how many shares have been accepted (maybe + rejected? Not enough to matter it seems). So sometimes its a bit higher than the actual hash rate, and sometimes lower, like now. These 'lucks' get added up in a pools mining stats, and basically multiplies by how many you have running. If all your miners on a lucky streak, your reported mash rate in the pool stats will be more than your actual. |
