Post by: geckogroove on July 21, 2011, 02:48:03 PM
"AMD proudly announcing the success of their new marketing campaign called 'the bitcoin project'. The project has seen the company sell out of 5xxx cards worldwide and strong sales of the 6xxx cards are set to continue earning the company billions"

it's coming, any minute now

cute..  they even went so far as to start with CPU mining so as to avoid suspicion.

This is why conspiracy theories, marketing and religion have such power..  in pursuit of a picture they've already envisioned in their mind, they join unrelated dots like a preschooler, and insert dots like a woodpecker on acid.

Plus, it's not so funny the third time around... check the threads, it's been done before.

AMD make CPUs too retard... think about it, radeon cards shit all over nvidia when it cones to mining... the cheapest way to combine multiple gpus for a mining rig is... wait for it... AMD processors

Given what's in the pipeline, it's more likely going to be this way if bitcoin is indeed an AMD marketing campaign

"AMD proudly announces the success of their 2 year old marketing campaign called 'The Bitcoin Project'. The project has helped propel sales of existing 5-series and 6-series card while creating financial value for AMD's users. To return even greater value to users and increase AMD profits, the new 7-series Southern Island GPUs will be available in retail channels on 1st August. Featuring 15% lower power consumption and 25% better hashing performance, it is expected that inventory will be cleared by Bitcoin Project Users as fast as they can be shipped."

giving back to the customers: great for public relations

and they continue to make millions off their new cards... the new benchmarks will be hashing speeds

Nah, hashing speeds mean nothing to the general population. In this context, the marketing people will use bitcoin value at the peak of US$30+ and compare how much US$ their new 7xxx cards can make for YOU vs nVidia's ;)

Most people will take note when a product starts claiming that it can make you $30 a day for an initial payment of $199.99 only :D

Hmm... would AMD stop selling cards and start a massive internal mining pool instead? :o

Holy crap your crayons are flying faster than your brain.

The point still stands that in an initial phase where GPU mining isn't even on most people's radar - there'd be no obvious competitive advantage to the campaign for one processor maker over another and so no suspicion it was all designed by company X whose graphics cards are better at it.

I actually thought you were just posting this for giggles....
but by your response it appears you take bullshit like this seriously and so the preschooler & woodpecker on acid comments apply directly to you?
