Quote Cryptocurrency might already be the rage of the day, but it just got a whole lot more legitimate. Among more than 850 new words and definitions added to the Merriam-Webster dictionary this month, some cryptocurrency-related words are making their debut. The online version of the dictionary will now feature blockchain, defined as “a digital database containing information (such as records of financial transactions) that can be simultaneously used and shared within a large decentralized, publicly accessible network.” The word cryptocurrency itself and the term “initial coin offering” will also be added. This is something that will help bitcoins in the long run for sure. We can see a lot of more acceptance for the bitcoin in society: 1) We may see bitcoins being taught in schools and colleges especially for students in commerce background. I am not in favor of this because of monetary benefit but because it will help them relate to real life application of what they are studying. 2) Research students making projects on bitcoins should also be encouraged. This will also help bitcoin community as they may come up with innovative ideas to boost bitcoins. If anyone doubted cryptocurrency going mainstream, there is more and more evidence everyday to suggest this is so. Looking forward to the day when cryptocurrencies are not a fringe thing, but crypto use is as common as browsing the internet is today.
