compared to the london conference, the cambridge/manchester pub meetups, exeter is easy to get to so it would be great to have a southwest 'hub' for us Southwest folk, i was thinking of setting up one near me that included as far as cornwall < -> bristol, but exeter seems a more central point for the southwest. plus later (after a few drinks) once organised if you do have access to hall space at the university then that too will be a great destination for everyone down this end of the country to visit.
