I am just wondering whether this is the first time ever someone is going for bonds on the blockchain? It is surprising as it's a pretty obvious use case, but I can't remember whether there was someone doing it before you. Do you know whether there are any competitors in the space?

Not that I recall.  I know that Fortuna does derivatives.  I think maybe a couple of other platforms have potentially thought of using bonds on their project, but I do not recall any group specifically targeting bonds as their end goal.  FIC seems to be the only one that is actively cornering the secondary loan market as their primary objective and seems to have a game plan for it.

Its great that they have this product demo already. But I'm wondering why they need to raise a lot of money? That's too much already for this kind of app.

FIC Network Partners with Civic Technologies

FIC Network is partnering with Civic Technologies to streamline the identification and KYC process, enhancing the FIC token sales privacy and security.

Philadelphia, PA, March 22, 2018 — Factury Inc., the company behind FIC Network, today announced a strategic partnership with Civic Technologies Inc., the company revolutionizing digital identity with its Blockchain-based technology. The partnership brings trusted, secure identity services to the token sales participants identification and enables FIC Network to streamline the identification and KYC process, enhancing the token sales privacy and security.

“Choosing Civic as our KYC provider was an easy choice as currently their ID verification technology, friendly user interfaces combined with security measures outperform the competition. At FIC Network, we are committed to perform a fully compliant token sale throughout all stages of the sale and across different jurisdictions globally and Civic is a perfect partner to cover the KYC portion of it,” said FIC Network CEO, Arturs Ivanovs.

“We are pleased to welcome FIC Network to Civic’s Partner Network. This collaboration marks another milestone for Civic’s ecosystem and for on-demand, secure, and low-cost access to identity verification services,” said Civic CEO, Vinny Lingham.

Civic will help enable secure sign-on based on validated user data across the FIC Network token sales process. This will help FIC Network get the information needed to be compliant with modern KYC requirements via automatic, user permissioned, extraction all the data from Passports or National ID Cards. Documents provided by participants will be validated against strict checks for authenticity including even subtle and not widely known properties of documents issued by governments across the globe. Moreover participants that scanned their ID documents for FIC Network with the Civic App will benefit from cryptographically secured digital attestations that can be reused in other projects employing Civic (e.g. other token sales).

FIC Network is a blockchain-based, end-to-end, decentralised fixed income assets network that will enable the listing, exchange, securitization, and redemption of fixed income financial instruments. FIC Network is an asset-agnostic, multi-currency distributed ledger with rules and applications specific to the fixed income industry. The technology is scalable to the global fixed income and debt markets, which exceed US$230 trillion.
FIC token is considered a network service fee token and enables transfer of assets within seconds.
Hedge funds, banks, lenders, credit investors, insurance companies, rating agencies and other fixed income market participants need to deposit tokens to create accounts, list and create financial instruments (FI), bid, buy and sell FIs, establish cooperation (trustline) between members.

Hi! What are the functions of the platform? Can you explain it more detailed?

Basically, companies will raise money from crypto investors like us by issuing bonds. In turn, we earn interest on our crypto assets. In the same way a bank holds your money and provides interest, you can park it with an asset manager or invest it yourself. FIC Network is mainly targeted toward institutions, as this is where the strength of their audience and market lies. The retail platform is a long term goal, but by then will already be bootstrapped as institutions integrate with the product.

FIC Network has stated there is no airdrop or bounty program planned, though it seems there was one in the past here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2386880.0

I do agree it would help increase exposure of FIC Network to the masses.

Still, the project has already passed the scrutiny of a few institutional investors which is good, as this is their main target audience.

The majority of investors have no option but to store their cryptocurrency in wallets and let it sit idly.
But with FIC network they could generate interest on that crypto by putting it in bonds or asset-backed securities.

Haven't found the info so maybe I could ask here. Who if at all are your similar competitors? And how does FIC Network differs from them? Thanks

Thanks for the question! The similar competitors would be Polymath and Blockex. We have different roadmaps and target markets though.

You could also include Salt, Genesis Vision, Fortuna, and mayyybe Stellar (though FIC is built on XLM I think)

Can you post more updates to keep us in touch with your daily life as a project dev team?

https://medium.com/fic-network/tech-ama-b7bb51896ed0

Looks like they're doing a technical Ask Me Anything with publishing next week. I too think semi-weekly Medium updates would be of great boost to investor confidence.

I am personally looking forward to that AMA.

ICO Analysis: FIC Network
Published on April 25, 2018
By Kent Hamilton

Verdict
Combining the crypto and fiat fixed income market will help make the future crypto market mainstream and sustainable. Existing crypto tokens are operating as currencies or utilities without a fixed-income offering. A crypto and fiat fixed income market can sustainably drive the crypto market into mainstream usage better than the conventionally fixed income market. FIC’s blockchain-based platform will allow users to list, buy and sell any type of crypto or fiat fixed financial instruments avoiding the drawbacks of conventionally fixed income markets such as friction, lack of liquidity, lack of interoperability, asymmetry of information and operational risks. A multi-currency asset agnostic system with a built-in exchange allows users to operate in currencies of their preference, thus eliminating exposure to exchange rate risk and simplifies accounting.
Risks
The FIC Network and app aren’t scheduled to be launched until Q4 2018. While Q4 isn’t too far in the future, many ICOs have over-promised and under-delivered when it comes to their roadmap progress after ICO completion. -1
As with many ICOs, the majority of the team has outside obligations which result in time being spent elsewhere and not 100% focused on the success of the project. -1
Regulations for cryptocurrencies are still undetermined and the outcome on how they will affect ICOs’ dealing with securities, such as FIC Network, is unknown. –1
Growth Potential
FIC Network has an MVP – distributed app (dApp) eDepository, which has already been developed and deployed on their Test Network. It allows publishing and managing assets on the blockchain network. +3
The team has the right mixture of talent and experience to bring this project to fruition as well as multiple advisers and venture capital backing. +3
Token metrics are an extremely important aspect that investors research to determine if an ICO is worthy of investment. A fairly low hard cap of $16 million USD, 50% of tokens being sold during the token sale, and a fixed supply are considered positives. +3
Disposition
With the uncertainty of this market, some investors may choose to remain on the sidelines. However, with the profit potential in this incredibly large market, those that take the plunge could end up with excellent returns if all goes according to plan. FIC Network receives a rating of 6 out of 10.

inancial Freedom with FIC Network

What is Financial Freedom?
Financial freedom is much more than having money. It’s the freedom to do whatever you want whenever you want without having to listen to anybody. It’s the freedom to not have to go to school to study something you aren’t really into or to work at a job you don’t like.

Being wealthy ultimately has the end goal of financial freedom in mind. It means you’re not living paycheck to paycheck. It means you’ve either saved enough that you don’t need to work every day to sustain your lifestyle or you’ve built up enough residual, passive income sources that you’re getting paid while you sleep. Did you hear that? Passive income means getting paid while you sleep or lie on the beach.

With the growing adoption of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology has paved several avenues of innovation that span across industries. Early adopters in this new space have had the opportunity to realize life-changing gains and amass fortunes both small and large. However, as double-digit volatility is at the heart of every cryptocurrency trader due to the speculative nature of the emerging asset class, it is difficult to sustain a consistent, predictable level of return without actively portfolio management.

We’re “hodling” our cryptocurrencies, so why not get paid?
With the recent boom and bust cycle of cryptocurrencies, a common sentiment among crypto traders is to “HODL” onto their crypto holdings through all ups and downs. Some people “hodl” for days, weeks, and months, while some others will even “hodl” for years.

In the news, we have all heard of the equity markets and how stocks go through their own boom and bust cycles. The global stock market is currently valued at $64 trillion; however, what many do not realize is that the global bond market is even bigger with a valuation at $100 trillion with an even higher daily trading volume ($700 billion vs. $200 billion). The bond market allows for the exchange of fixed income instruments that delivery coupon payments at regular intervals. With these predictable series of payments, many traditional investors use this approach to generate passive income streams and accumulate wealth. What is extraordinarily remarkable is that one project, FIC Network, has created a medium for exchanging fixed income instruments on the blockchain, providing an opportunity to generate consistent, predictable rates of return in the cryptocurrency space.

So what is FIC Network?
FIC network is the first project to create a decentralized, trustless network to exchange fixed income instruments with a consistent, predictable return schedule akin to government bonds, corporate bonds, and dividend stocks. The most salient innovation in this project is the consolidation of both crypto and fiat fixed income instruments into one network with transactions that settle within seconds.

As the Blockchain utilizes pseudoanonymous transactions on a public ledger, this approach essentially eliminates the middlemen and with it, a wide range of logistical efficiencies (transaction fees/long settlement times) that come with exchanging in a traditional market. It is with this model that investors can choose to receive payments in either fiat or cryptocurrencies. While other crypto projects have the option of masternodes or dividend-paying tokens, such options generally provide a low rate of return, limited liquidity, and high levels of volatility.

The FIC Network brings much desirable innovation in the blockchain space and capitalizes on a pre-existing $100 trillion market, thereby disruption traditional financial markets. With the FIC Network, you are guaranteed a fixed, predictable passive income stream to help supplement your lifestyle and to help achieve financial freedom.

Prices for services (transactions) and deposits in the FIC network ecosystem are denominated in FIC tokens. The network part, like any other blockchain network, has an inherit risk of being abused, spammed and DoS-ed, for that it requires network fees to safeguard against that. Those expenses are by design only in FIC coins, and is meant to be punitive to abusers, but in the same time miniscule for users.

There are still issues of regulation of the bond market and other instruments available for trading on the FIC platform in the jurisdictions of different countries. The process can be long, and somewhere and will not get legalization at all.Quite a long roadmap.Considering FIC as a long-term investment seems more powerful than for flipping.

It is fairly well that loan payments are typically defined by a date, an interest component, and a principal component, and all three may change after origination (in cases of restructuring, prepayment, late payment, etc.)

Title: Re: [ICO] [ANN] FIC Network: Bonds on Blockchain

Since ECFs don’t need to correspond to actual payments, the originator can control the number, size and timing of ECFs. If ECFs matched the payment schedule precisely, the originator would inadvertently telegraph information about his or her business processes to competitors.

Title: Re: [ICO] [ANN] FIC Network: Bonds on Blockchain
Post by: ticulves on June 05, 2018, 09:45:20 AM
This ability to separate payments and ECFs also allows an originator to break down a large, potentially illiquid payment into several smaller ECFs that may be easier for the market to digest.

Post by: Gozragore on June 05, 2018, 09:47:48 AM
I am totally sure that the bundled attitude is most suitable for trades in the primary market or large trades in the secondary market and involves creating an inventory account to house the group of ECFs that will be traded as a unit.

the ratio is calculated as the sum of expected principal, interest, and fee income, divided by initial principal. When quoted on a percentage basis, the calculation could be anywhere from 0% to 200% or greater, with higher values corresponding to more favorable anticipated returns

It allows the purchase of loan payments and other financial instruments practically instantly and at low cost, plus payments can be tokenized so that cashflow can be managed more tightly as demands require. The system also allows you to purchase traditional bonds etc with cryptocurrency, so you do not have to cash out to fiat and use a standard dealer/investment broker and all their fees. Using Stellar means it can handle a high amount of transactions.

Public sale starts in June, pre sales are over. They are speaking at a summit this weekend. This is under the radar as they are cautious about being compliant to SEC and other regs.

Our team has been working hard to launch FIC Mainnet. As we reported earlier, security of the FIC blockchain is the most important aspect both for us as a company and our investors. Thus, it is critical to ensure the security of infrastructure we set in place, particularly focusing on node distribution, wallet application, and the smart contract to distribute coins to our pre-sale investors. We have partnered with a blockchain development and consulting company Blockvis to ensure safe coin distribution via smart contract, and with IT security company 1st Ltd. to analyze the potential vulnerabilities in FIC node infrastructure and ensure the security of the wallet application.

Racing The World Bank to Issue the First Ever Bond on the Blockchain

Lately, cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies have been in the news for mostly negative reasons. Headlines are screaming about the bear market and price fluctuations, one analyst after another declaring Bitcoin “dead” or “here to stay”.

In the meantime, impassioned and dedicated developers and forward-thinking entrepreneurs are forging ahead, not letting sensational headlines or wild price swings dissuade them from creating the future.

We at FIC Network are among those devoted creators steadily making waves — and progress — in the rapidly evolving blockchain space. For two years now we have been building a platform to issue and trade bonds on the blockchain. The platform is ready to launch and we will issue the first bond on our Mainnet in the fourth quarter of this year.

The timing could not be better, as we have found an additional motivation for ourselves — to issue the first ever BOB (bond on the blockchain) before the World Bank does.

The World Bank, in conjunction with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) announced plans to issue the first ever bond on the blockchain.

Therefore, I think it has a good chance to succeed. I believe the upside is tremendous and fits well with the overall trend of where cryptocurrency is going.

If we count from today still there are several months to complete the crowdfunding and then rest of the work. My question is do not you think all this time is too long to compete with other projects which are already working on the similar idea ?

Good morning  A project worthy of being analyzed and studied, after all, is not every day we found a project recommended by big names in this forum, so some investment should be carried out and as mentioned above there is a tendency to replace the BTC here in the forum. In conclusion, leaving the optimism aside, we should look seriously at the idea proposal, understand the meaning and only then sit back and wait to go to the moon.

I have noticed that you have allocated 5 percent of tokens to unforeseen events! So, what do you consider as unforeseen events?

I don't think that's bad news. After all, we are talking about the financial market, and I do not think that there is a need to hurry and overtake its competitors.I think Cho's team is doing everything correctly and clearly, they are not standing still, progress in the project are available. So I think soon we will see the full launch of the network FIC.

With the hype around ETFs, if approved, we may see a slight bounce in October or November, but once we realise that ETFs are no panacea in a bear market, interest will wane - and the soft market will persist until year end

The concept of putting financial instruments such as bonds is a strong one. I like the idea of the project and see its potential in real finance markets.

I can’t forecast what will happen with this market, but I know that in next several years they will come much more organized.

If I invested in the presale several months ago and now the price of eth has dropped a ton. Does that affect how many FIC tokens I will receive? Also, does switching to the stellar network have an affect as well?

How to use a Ledger Device with FIC Network
Ledger Nano S and Ledger Blue are hardware wallets that work with numerous coins and tokens, including FIC coins. They securely store private keys on a specialized physical device, rather than a comparatively insecure hard disk. It is extremely difficult as to be effectively impossible, to extract a private key from such device. Only the people that have access to a Ledger device have any control over coins and tokens in the account. Additionally, because the private keys are stored on a separate and read-only device, they are invulnerable to computer virus attacks.
