Hi.

I plan to buy a new computer that I will use during the day for some office work and some very amateur picture and video editing. I also plan to put some wallets on that computer.

Since the computer I was looking at has a GTX 1050 TI graphic card I was thinking more for fun then for any real profit to add another graphic card and start mining over night since computer is turned on most of the time and maybe one day the coins I mine will 10x and it will be profitable :)

My question however is this safe to do? Do some mining on the same computer that I will have wallets on?

I would keep the wallets separate. Or move the bulk of your coins to another computer with wallets on and just mine into the wallets on the new computer. Also think about paper wallets or hardware wallets.

If you are going to mining on them then take the following cards:

This is a bit arbitrary with the volatility of cryptocurrencies, it can change in the matter of days. Since you are doing it for fun that shouldnt matter anyways. You can use it on the same computer just be sure not to save the private keys anywhere on that pc, and make sure the mining software you are using is reputable and legitimate  - there shouldn't be any problems. Just know that if you are going to have an anti virus software on the PC is can collude with a LOT of functions of a mining rig - be sure to optimize the settings.

what about cpu mining? What is a good cpu mining computers?

CPU mining means mining from your computer using a graphics card. I think you can't profit just by mining through your CPU alone, although it is possible but its not economically possible, you'll just be wasting your time and electricity.

Well since nano ledger S are hard to get right now I plan to store my main coins in wallets with the same computer that I will use sometimes for fun mining. I also have a mining rig 8xgtx 1060 6gb.

But my main concern is if it is dangerous to store crypto on the same computer that mines sometime. In other words am I more open to hacks if I mine sometimes with the computer that I have wallets on? Keep in mind I plan to move the coins to nano ledger as soon as I get them.

As a miner myself, I never faced any issues for doing those (just make sure to back up everything [regarding wallets]).

That's GPU mining, not CPU.

As long as you're connected to the internet, there will always be a risk.
