Title: Who are the smartest people working on altcoins? Post by: go1111111 on October 09, 2013, 10:34:50 PM I've been researching bitcoin for a few months, and it seems like all the really impressive people in the cryptocurrency community are working on bitcoin or bitcoin-related businesses. The guys at Ripple seem pretty good, but they're not directly competing with bitcoin. Maybe Charles Lee (creator of litecoin) is a good engineer (Google hired him, so he can't be too bad), but litecoin itself is not innovative, and when I've heard Chris give interviews he doesn't seem to have any great ideas for why litecoin is going to be better than bitcoin.
So because it seems like all the best people are focused on bitcoin, I think the altcoins out there now are pretty hopeless. Maybe I'm missing something though. He never intended to make Litecoin to be a replacement of Bitcoin. He sees it as Bitcoin is equal to Gold, and Litecoin is equal to Silver. Title: Re: Who are the smartest people working on altcoins? You know, most alt coins, are created by a small group of people. They release a new coin, insta mine the shit out of it, dump it on Cryptsy, rinse, repeat. I did not say it was asic hostile... they have been working for months to migrate a miner to gpu, with less then stellar results. Someone is already making a program for GPU mining for primecoin, its just a matter of time. yes, they are.. and did.. and couldn't get even 2 times faster then the cpu... also, not sure if they have even found a block with gpu yet... It is nothing like just doing a hash and paralleling it... |
