Title: Dota 2 tournaments with BTC awards?
Post by: Jaxkr on October 11, 2013, 12:50:58 AM
I think this would be a lot of fun. Let people make teams, the team pays a small entrance fee, and then they compete for the pot which consists of all the entrance fees!
Would anyone be interested in participating in something like this?

I would be interested, make one also for League of Legend and HoN? :)

Yeah. Sounds great! DotA 2 is my personal favorite, but those other games are popular as well.

They're very similar games. It's worth it to play both, but if you know LoL it's easy to learn Dota, and vice versa.
We could do league tournaments as well.

Yeah. Big difference between dota and league is that there's such a thing as ability power in league where as in dota is just power in general. Basically you have to play dota like an adc in league (in terms of a league player, adc gets most of their dmg from auto attacks)

Wait, what? The 4 hero spells do level up. Each has 4 levels which increases it's power and usually mana cost, and sometimes it's cooldown time.

See? At the bottom. The yellow boxes indicate levels.
Unless you're talking about something else.

Which game is more popular? Dota HoN or LoL?

Depends where you look.

U.S and Europe:
1. Dota 2
2. LoL
3. HoN

Worldwide:
1. LoL
2. Dota 2
3. HoN

HoN is by far the least popular, but LoL and Dota are at a near tie in English speaking countries, with Dota recently gaining a small advantage.
However, in a worldwide scheme LoL dominates.

The reason I want to do Dota 2 tournaments is solely because it's my personal favorite. However, I love LoL as well.

Yes, I know that skills level up in DotA, but there is no item stat that you can BUY to increase the damage of those spells. You just buy power to increase your attacks. Dota spells (compared to ones used in league) are more "utility" as in they provide some use but not as much dmg.

Of course Data is most popular in the whole world.

No, League is by far more popular. League is the most played video game out of any video game in the world right now.

My friend would drool at the mere thought, he is a DOTA 2 addict.
Would DOTA 2 agree with this too?
In my opinion, it would make this super competitive, like that League of Legends Championships.

I'm pretty sure LoL has a HUGE amount of players in Asia o.O
DOTA 2 is more North American, in my opinion.

I don't know. I'm just gauging interest.
What do you think the entrance fee for a team of 5 should be?

Nononononono, this is not a matter of opinion. You can't have an opinion on what is a fact. The numbers are not open to interpretation, they are what they are. LoL is more popular. If you like DotA better, then fine. But it isn't more popular.

I actually prefer LoL, the gameplay and the customization. HoN and Dota have no customization :(

I have no idea about HoN, but Dota has tons of customization! You can mix and match various cosmetic items on all of your heroes.

But its just cosmetic items, LoL would have runes to customize the hero.

Also, masteries. But they make such a tiny difference.

It may seem tiny, but it is actually a huge difference in the early game when there aren't many items bought yet.
