Regardless of how it plays out, it is good to know that the main stream commerce system is pouring in real money to build brand names around the concept of Bitcoin.

The web wallet is growing the user base everyday in a surprising rate, the first batch of cards has arrived, software for the terminal is almost done. We are getting some great media coverage now and the phone keeps on ringing!

Let me know if you want more info, but the best is to just give it a try!

Yes, just saw it. Looks fair.
Should be an easy sell, and given you are Canada-based... those storing their Bitcoins in your servers should sleep better at night :)
Any ETA for delivery of the POS Terminals?

Yes, Canada seems to have been going on the right direction,
we also took one more precaution we are not exposed to Fiat, we don't exchange.

POS is still on course, the hardware production line is set, we received a few more units and are building a bigger order for the Q1.
We are now fine tuning the firmware. Here is a pic

What's with switching from "us" to "them"? Anyway the point is, no matter which pronouns you're using, they ought to have greater depth. Getting in the WoT is the way to achieve this.

This looks really awesome. Great work.

One question though, regarding:
  • Privacy. You can generate new receiving addresses on demand.
Why on demand? With deterministic wallets I don't ever see a reason to reuse an adress, and especially not with HD wallets where a merchant could just give each customer his own adress chain making it possible for the customer to generate new sending adresses himself in the future.

Yes, we do that for the POS and for receiving, many people don't know that.

I'm a little confused with the fee.  Does it cost a fee to send Bitcoin or Litecoin from my Coinkite wallet to another Bitcoin or Litecoin address?  Or is the fee only for withdrawing at a Coinkite terminal?

Thanks.

We are a paid service.

We have two monthly/yearly fix price memberships, where we charge nothing to send/receive. And we have one where its free to keep money, but we charge a percentage to withdraw(send).

The fix price memberships have no fees on transactions, even on the terminal.

I enabled 2 factor authentication on my ipad.  What happens if my ipad crashes or I lose it?  Can I still access my account somehow?

Also, I read on the site that I am supposed to get something in my "Welcome Message" that will enable me to recover my coins if your site goes away in the future.  Where can I find this welcome message?

Thanks!

I signed up by clicking on the sidebar promo on coinkite.com.  I wasn't required to put an email in while signing up so I didn't.  I later added 2 emails in order to use the 2-factor authentication, but I didn't receive a welcome message to either of those emails.

Please message on support@coinkite.com so that I can check what's going on.

I would never register for/use coinkite.

Quote from: Coinkite Terms of Service
Bitcoins and Litecoins ("Coins") do not constitute a currency, an asset or a form of property at law or otherwise;... Any purchase or sale of Coins, for money, virtual currency or other consideration, involves inherent risks and may lead to the complete loss of any value, virtual currency or other consideration, and you agree to wholly accept any and all such risk.

Their TOS is against BTC, By registering at Coinkite you agree that BTC is not a currency.
Also their TOS is worded and set up in a way to steal BTC later.
Probably just another scam.

Irrelevant, BTC at it's core is intended as a currency.
CoinKites TOS is a joke, I suspect you are a scam artist.
I highly doubt any POS machines will ship.
You make sentence flow errors like "considerate" instead of "considered",
yet you expect individuals to believe you have the intelligence to program a POS device.

What's worse the sentence flow issues are not limited to this forum,
your site is full of them.

More currencies!

We can’t be a world product without supporting the world’s fiat currencies, so today we add KRW (Korean Won), CHF (Swiss Franc) and NZD (New Zealand Dollar). Recently we’ve also added SEK (Swedish Krona) by request of one of our terminal operators.

Coinkite now supports 14 of the worlds’ fiat currencies.

The complete list: USD, EUR, CAD, RUB, GBP, PLN, AUD, JPY, CNY, BRL, SEK, KRW, CHF, NZD

Nice to see you guys on the news. Looks good and some free advertising for your company :)

Few questions.

You have a set price in place for different types of accounts. If paying that fee each month or for the year and the price has sky rocketed over the year do we get a refund for the difference or a top up back to the account based off the fact that say paying PERSONAL $ 9.95/mo and market goes up say 20 to 30% and have then paid like $15 to $20 do we get compensated for that or more time added to our membership.

Next question. When do you plan on having your re seller system active or affiliate system up and running?

Will it work on normal debit card readers? Can it function like a debit card assigned from a bank?

Hmm, maybe get in touch with VISA or Master Card and try to get it working as a debit card (or credit card)?

That really is incredible news guys, to be included in Coinkite that allow people & retailers to have Web Wallets, Debit Cards and Payment Terminals is really a great accomplishment and definitely builds a solid foundation to work from. Not to mention it says huge amounts that the only other coins they allow are Bitcoin + Litecoin (not even Dogecoin). Congrats!

From the FAQ/Security:

Can I have my private key?

"Your welcome message contains a copy of the root private key chain for your account. It's encrypted with our global vault key using AES-256-CBC."

Some users may prefer to sign up without an email address (email can be the weakest link!); only with a username, password combo (think password managers; or he can just remember his one strong password only used on secure places).

So how can you get your private key if you did not provide an email? Blockckain provides it from their web interface; certainly more private than sending it in email on a postcard.

Update; We've added more info about our Offline Bitcoin Toolkit, it allows you to backup, sign transactions and generate any/all Coinkite multisig keys offline!

Quote

Back-up (Key Escrow), Generate Keys and Sign Transactions Offline

For additional security we offer theses downloadable files for use while off-line.

We provide this stand-alone, in-browser key generating tool, which creates a new random BIP32 ‘wallet’ to be your private key for the new wallet. The secret values that it picks are easy to print from the tool (for paper backup), and for storing on computers, we help you pick a secure passphrase and encrypt the file for you (using AES-256-CBC).

The resulting encrypted keyfile is verifiable, meaning if you have a little Unix background, you can be 100% sure that the key is encrypted using AES-256-CBC and with only your key.

Quote
Back-up and Key Escrow

The encrypted keyfile can be uploaded (one click) so that Coinkite can store it forever, and then we can decrypt it and use the key inside to authorize transactions very easily. The encrypted file can also be used offline without giving it to Coinkite if you wish.

Quote
Air Gap

Because we have delivered this “key generating” tool as a standalone Javascript/HTML file, you can use it on any computer with a browser. You can put the program onto a USB flash drive, and run it later, or on another computer or whatever. You do not have to trust us that we didn’t peek at your private key.

Updates: Building what you need!

http://blog.coinkite.com/post/126999568271/updates-building-what-you-need

We’ve been busy listening to our customers and building-out the “little things” that can make a big difference:

  • Flex Liquidity (https://coinkite.com/faq/flex) feature can now be controlled on a per-account basis. This means you can reduce or increase the number of “change back” coins you get in each transaction. Perhaps for a busy hot wallet, you want lots of change outputs, so there are always some confirmed balances in your account. In other cases, you might prefer to have fewer larger UTXO. Regardless, you now have the control! We recommend 3 change outputs for multisig accounts (because those transactions can be larger and slower due to extra signatures) and 10 change outputs for max flexibility in normal hot wallets.
  • Pay buttons (https://coinkite.com/faq/pay) can now be created by API call! (https://docs.coinkite.com/api/buttons.html#new-button) We still encourage the use of JWT Tokens (http://jwt.io/) to set prices, descriptions and otherwise modulate the contents of payment buttons, but some customers need to link payment buttons to specific accounts and of course, we all love automation! Now it’s simple to create a payment button (https://coinkite.com/faq/pay) via our API. (https://coinkite.com/developers)
  • Bitcoin Pay buttons (https://coinkite.com/faq/pay), at your option, may now require a refund payment address from your customer. This was always optional before. Depending on your business and how you use our buttons, this change might give you a lot more confidence you won’t be left in a situation where you’re holding a customer’s money and can’t send it back to them.
  • Proposed, but incompletely-signed shared-account/multisig (https://coinkite.com/faq/multisig) transactions, are now highlighted on balances page. Some of ourbusy customers would lose track of a proposed transaction that needed signing. Now they are in your face until you cancel or sign them.
  • Webhooks (https://coinkite.com/developers) no longer follow redirect responses (302, 300) and your webhooks must be hosted on standard port numbers, such as 80 and 443. This fixes some obscure security risks.

https://41.media.tumblr.com/1879fb38333b49969e97f0d455500894/tumblr_inline_nta9gfgmtc1qz9xzs_540.png

What is BitKit?

Coinkite's Bitcoin API (https://coinkite.com/developers) provides simple and powerful REST integrations for adding bitcoin functions into your business / application.

You can focus on building your app, not infrastructure. With a Multi-Signature (https://coinkite.com/faq/multisig), HSM-based vault, we can deliver incredible advantages over other solutions and completely avoid human error in daily operations.

Thousands of Bitcoin startups use Coinkite's platform.

For over two years we've been helping thousands of startups from all over the world safely and easily use Bitcoin. Your whole team can now better work with Bitcoin, both developers and managers, because we have API access (https://coinkite.com/developers) and also a very intuitive web interface.

Using Coinkite's platform helps you focus on building your app—and adding value to your business—not building infrastructure. Our Multi-Signature and HSM-based Bitcoin vaults (https://coinkite.com/multisig), deliver incredible advantages over other solutions and when automated, completely avoid human error in daily operations. Plus payment processing (https://coinkite.com/faq/pay) and other merchat tools (https://coinkite.com/merchants) to help you booststrap faster.

And when you need help, our team of industry experts are just an email away!
