well if i wanted to join discord to get more info for a shitcoin that have new ann thread i would but i dont,all i am asking is the same question as before that was posted already few times-why the new ann thread?

You don't have to say scam if you don't have the proofs. Just give the benefit of the doubt. And if you're really worried, then, don't invest. As simple as that. It's not the first time to introduce such kind of project, PoS+PoW with MN and added security. But if the team will not abandon this and continue to grow the community, why not? And the supply is one of the lowest supplies that I've seen here.

Summary of what happened / reason for new ANN:

- NORT started off on 14 Feb 2018 with a Genesis block
- Coin launches smoothly, community is happy, price starts to grow
- There were two people involved from the start, Scribbles, the Dev, and Rob.S, the owner
- Shortly after NORT hit cryptoBridge at $1, Rob.S, the owner, proceeded to dump his premined coins and exit
- Rob.s kicked all the moderators before deleting the Discord

A few days later

- Scribbles, the Dev, started a new Discord and added the original moderators back
- A new team was formed much larger than the first, all from community members with an interest in making NORT a success, as well as Scribbles agreeing to stay on and develop
- The team decided to still move forward with the project, and formed a new whitepaper and roadmap, which include a different direction for the coin, as well as some additions to the roadmap

The new ANN was made as we felt it was necessary - we have changed quite a few things, the team is different, and we no longer have Rob.S with us, as he has dumped his coins.

Scribbles has kindly donated a good portion of his coins from the premine, toward a developer and marketing fund. This will be used to fund the project - in order to help us get listed on new exchanges and masternode listing sites, as well as fund any developer work that we need done on certain projects.

After what has happened so early on in the coin's life, we have decided to move on and bring new life into the coin, and the team is expanding each day with skilled and motivated members of all different skillsets.

This coin looks promising now, i bought it before the old owner dumped the coin. I was in discord all the way, Scribbles, Doniva people i have spoken to were very helpful and sincere. They are moving the coin in the right direction and i have decided to purchase more of this coin. Great job guys keep it going.

I prefer having a community behind a coin instead of 2 persons (with one of the two only caring about it's own interests)!

We would have just dumped our coins in the first instance and moved on then. But we decided to keep our coins and instead work to make the project a success. Also, the coin wasn't a "scam", one person involved just decided to do something stupid early on. It doesn't reflect the intentions of the current team.

What is the RPC port? It is about a 1000 away from the p2p which is either unusual or a mistake.

RPC Port is 61150. I've got 3 masternodes running with that and all are working perfectly. It is unusual being so far away from p2p but it is correct.

Devs, in light of the changes have you thought about making this coin only a POW only coin?

UPDATE:

A vote was held in our Discord, with regard to the direction the project should move in.

Results:

11 - Don't change code
3 - Raise MN collat only (to 3000)
6 - Add a treasury and MN voting system only
94 - Raise collat AND add treasury / MN voting system

The consensus then is for us to fork the code, change the masternode requirement to 3000 NORT, and to add a treasury into the block reward (we're thinking 10% of block reward, this will still mean 45% to miners and 45% to MN holders, so each only give up 5% of their earnings, which isn't huge). This will give us a budget to use for NORT, and will ensure that we get listed on more exchanges promptly, along with other developments. Masternode holders will be able to use their nodes to vote on budget proposals.

We hope this direction is one that the community is happy with, please discuss in general.

Good question -will be interested to hear once the details are sorted as well.

I'd guess from the whitepaper's description of high ROI MN's which inevitably crash due to the oversupply that the fund would be looking at 'safer' coins with a stable price and some history. If so then I'd completely with the safe and steady approach even where that may not be the highest returns - my fiat savings accounts offer 0.35%pa, if NORT can beat that then I'm going all in :D

No specifics yet. We are busy designing the criteria that will be used when assessing whether or not to add a coin to the fund. We will aim for the more prominent, top tier coins that most investors would otherwise not have access to - NORT will be the gateway for them to get exposure to the masternode coins that they would otherwise never be able to participate in.

We will get a lot of input from the community when making the decisions with regard to adding coins to the fund, and will ensure to have a process that masternode holders can submit proposals and get funding from the network for coins that they would like to see added to the fund.

I don't think who they are is any secret but if you want LinkedIn profiles then it's essentially the same dev team as for KYD coin. Names, pictures and LinkedIn profiles are on that website (http://kydcoin.network/ (http://kydcoin.network/)).

Two projects yes and it's a team in both cases not just one person - just like every other type of project management job in the world I think you'll find that many/most devs work on more than one project at the same time doing whatever they specialise in e.g. coding, community management etc. A team working on more than one project doesn't have any correlation to the likelihood of any of them failing.

What is important is that the team is active on any project (for Northern, responses usually come within minutes from one of the core team on Discord), that the project has a clear purpose and use case (Northern does - a simple concept with a huge market and is one of the few coins that can claim that) and that progress is being made in line with the whitepaper (it is and some very exciting developments on schedule for the very near future).

Of course, as with any project, time will tell and there are no guarantees but if you are looking for a good bet for your money that has the potential for 10x or 20x returns then Nort should be close to the top of anyones list :)

I assume you are asking what the differences are between Stakecube and Northern?

I hadn't heard of Stakecube before but a quick look at the website shows it is a proof-of-stake pool so people who own a few of one of their supported coins can pool them with others who also hold a few to increase their staking weight. This will give a more regular payout of new coins instead of more infrequent payouts if everyone staked what they owned in a local wallet. In the long term the amount you earn from staking any specific amount of coins will be the same whether they are held locally or pooled. There are a number of staking pool operators and the concept, whilst valid, isn't new at all.

The Northern Equinox Fund is completely different to this.

The Equinox Fund will own and host a number of different masternodes of other coins which have been chosen for their stability and real world applications to give a reliable and regular income. These won't be the 10,000%+ ROI coins that are announced everyday with a MN presale and no coherent application or use case!

The NORT coin will be the native currency of the Equinox Fund meaning that you need to own NORT and use them to buy in to the fund. This means that by buying just NORT you can get exposure to the returns from all of the other coins held in the Equinox Fund which spreads your risk, simplifies investment in crypto and allows people who don't have (for example) $200,000 to invest in a DASH masternode to get a piece of the returns from one.

It's a relatively simple concept but one that will make crypto investment simpler and more attractive to both old and new crypto enthusiasts!

A recent study was released by Omni Analytics:

Over a 3 month period, they recorded the price and payouts of 193 masternode coins. After the 3 month period, they compared the initial cost of the masternode against the current worth of the masternode and earnings accrued in the 3 months.

NORT was listed as #12 out of 193 coins, with a 143% return on investment over the 3 month period.

He is advising you not to dump and you agreed - sounds like good advice to sell slowly if you want out of a coin... incidentally completely the opposite of what you did today dumping your bag on CB. You ended up getting about 10% of what you would have easily got if you had sold slowly although I'm sure the NORT community thanks you for all of the cheap coins ;)

The above refers to an old and disgruntled (ex) team member. He is accusing on of our team of "dumping", however we were able to use CryptoFresh to negate this, and discovered it was actually him (the old team member) selling. He then proceeded to be spiteful and take down our block explorer as well. Nevertheless, it would be advisable to ignore this person...

We have looked into this before. For example, pools such as stakinglab.io charge around 1.5 BTC to get the coin listed on their platform, and even after that, the pool can add a lot of selling pressure to the market. That being said, it's not something we are against - we will just need to find a pool that is trustworthy and not to expensive to get listed at.

As many of you are aware there has been a period of inactivity in the Northern community. This has been due to the fact that James(zabtc in discord), who has been the lead developer for NORT, has stated that he has limited time to work on the project, as well as other priorities. Following those statements for James there has been quite a bit of discussion in The community team on how to move forward. James has stated that he has been willing to transfer control of all key elements to the Community Team.

Therefore KingrichardDV(discord) has now received all key information needed to drive the project forward, and he will be our main developer going forward. I(emilio in discord) will also join him in The Core Team to drive things forward.

Going forwards we have given quite a bit of thought as to what we want to acheive in the crypto space. We have decided to leave the old plans for a masternode fund behind, as that was really James’ brainchild in the first place. Rather we will now move forwards with a new vision and new usecases. In the following text you will see a description of this:


NORTHERN (NORT) - VISION AND ROADMAP

The vision of NORT is to be a force for good in the crypto sphere and the world in general by offering useful services without any fees. These services/utilities are meant to facilitate a more organic way of creating useful work/tasks/transactions in the crypto marketplace of ideas, while simultaneously functioning as sound money and thereby a good store of value. In addition, NORT utilizes a proof of stake consensus mechanism which minimizes negative environmental impact.

Following is a list of NORT usecases and future plans. Note that this document is a work in progress and will be subject to editing and updates in the future.

1.   Venture fundraising         Q2 2019
The purpose here is to be a kickstarter/freelance option for anything(!). This will start of with a channel in Discord and where people can come in with ideas which will further be subject to fundraising in the NORT community. The goal is to build this out to the website or another platform as needed in the future. The concept is basically to have a free marketplace for ideas where people can search for funding for all sorts of things. For example this could be: a marketing campaign (for NORT or something else), reward for writing an article on a topic of interest, a charity cause, app development, an ICO where coins might be offered to funders. The person taking the initiative would have to pitch an idea to the community, see if it is possible to raise needed funds from the community, and then the NORT team will do an escrow service for this and do a payout once task is complete or at another agreed upon time.

2.   “Patreon”-crypto service       Q2 2019
The purpose is to offer a funding service for actors who offer various services online (youtubers, journalists etc.). We will establish a list of receivers and a small description of them on our website including donation addresses in NORT. The service will be free of charge in line with NORTs vision to provide good solutions for the crypto sphere at no cost.

3.   Marketplace for items       Q2-Q3 2019
The goal here is to create a low key trading market where used/new items can be traded using NORT. Payments will be peer to peer with no involvement from the NORT team. This will start out as a low key solution using a discord channel and further be built into our website. Payments will be in NORT, no fees attached.

4.   Store of value         Active
Low supply and low inflation means NORT will function as a sound store of value with the possibility of earning interest rates via staking or masternodes.

5.   Use for payments         Active
The goal is for NORT be used for payments in as many avenues as possible. Right now we have one actor accepting NORT as payment (Kulturmench in the Nort discord). We will explore more avenues for such activities.

6.   Offering swaps          Continuous
In line with NORTs vision of doing good in the crypto sphere, NORT is prepared to consider offering swaps to people who has been scammed and are holding “dead coins”. The benefit for NORT is exposure while doing good for the crypto-community in general.
