Title: Which PSU are you using for your KNC Miner? Post by: Buffcorp on October 11, 2013, 08:00:31 PM Hi all,
Since we have received word that the Corsair HX850 is not recommend for use on the knc miner, can those who are currently hashing away with a knc miner that have not had any issues with blown caps post which psu they are using? I think this would be helpful for those who are still searching for the right psu to use as this would certainly be reassuring knowing that someone else is successfully using a certain model/brand. Post by: CMMPro on October 11, 2013, 10:17:33 PM I went with Coolermaster V850....I saw that was the product line they were using and decided to go with what they were doing.
Seems like a good decision....I think after googling Corsair problems that you guys using anything from them with a KNCMiner are crazy. Title: Re: Which PSU are you using for your KNC Miner? Post by: pixl8tr on October 11, 2013, 10:21:01 PM Corsair AX1200i Hasnt missed a beat on my Miners.
Title: Re: Which PSU are you using for your KNC Miner? Post by: mininganon on October 11, 2013, 10:49:12 PM I WAS using an HX850 but luckily enough I had a TX850 on my gaming rig that I'm now using on my Jupiter.
Title: Re: Which PSU are you using for your KNC Miner? Post by: xstr8guy on October 11, 2013, 10:53:45 PM Seasonic makes the HX850... and dozens of other brands. Seasonic PSUs are considered to be the best by many PC enthusiasts.
Here's a current, comprehensive list of who makes your PSU... http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/power-supply-oem-manufacturer,2913-4.html I have a Corsair AX860 waiting for my Mercury. It's made by Flextronics so I'll feel safe using it. Title: Re: Which PSU are you using for your KNC Miner? What is wrong with the Corsair HX850? I contacted the KnCMiner support team, they told me I can use that. ??? Title: Re: Which PSU are you using for your KNC Miner? In theory yes but I think you'll want (or need) more headroom in practice. I wouldn't go with less than 850 for each Jupiter. Title: Re: Which PSU are you using for your KNC Miner? Hopefully the HX850 and the AX860 are completely different PSUs. I might not take my chances and just return mine and upgrade to the 860i. DAMN! Title: Re: Which PSU are you using for your KNC Miner? The Baby Jet is using the Seasonic X-1000 - that PSU is 91.0% efficient with 1 module. Title: Re: Which PSU are you using for your KNC Miner? Post by: jimini on October 12, 2013, 12:36:04 PM What are the chances it would be the one that I bought?
So has knc stated not to use the hx850 or just bitcoinorama? I have heard rumours that he hasn't been getting his required amount of sleep and is under some stress, I would prefer to hear about this in a news announcement. So is newegg easy going about returns of opened but unused merchandise? Couldn't knc just put in some form of protection? Title: Seasonic AX860i Post by: Wesly on October 12, 2013, 01:55:09 PM I originally bought the Enermax Platimax 1350W, but then I realize it has multiple rails, so I ended up getting the Seasonic AX860i (http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Professional-Digital-Platinum-AX860i/dp/B00A0HZNDW/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1380878927&tag=trusted22-20&sr=1-1&keywords=AX860i) instead. I was able to connect the Corsair link to my laptop using the following USB header to USB-A adapter. I can see how many Amps each of the PCIe connectors are consuming and the PSU efficency in real-time.
Adapter Cable, USB 2.0, IDC 5 Male (single row) to USB A Male (Used to connect devices designed to plug into USB motherboard header pins to an external USB 2.0 connector) (http://www.amazon.com/Adapter-designed-motherboard-external-connector/dp/B000V6WD8A/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&tag=trusted30-20&ie=UTF8&qid=1379740422&sr=1-5&keywords=usb+header+to+usb+a) http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/21NdH39vtTL.jpg BTW, the AX860i is made by Seasonic based on the UL # E307858 on the label. http://www.10stripe.com/articles/who-made-your-power-supply.php https://i.imgur.com/vW1Ee7B.png Title: Re: Seasonic AX860i Post by: Threader on October 12, 2013, 02:40:05 PM Nice gadget for monitoring but if were to spend the same $200 as the AX860i
i would just invest for the long term for the same amount of cash and get EVGA SuperNOVA 1300G2 http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=349 (http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=349) with 108amps on the 12v rail. The unit has good reviews and the price is right for the capacity. Hate spending $200 and then its not good enough in a year for the next 10 T/H miner :D I originally bought the Enermax Platimax 1350W, but then I realize it has multiple rails, so I ended up getting the Seasonic AX860i (http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Professional-Digital-Platinum-AX860i/dp/B00A0HZNDW/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1380878927&tag=trusted22-20&sr=1-1&keywords=AX860i) instead.
