Title: STOLEN BITCOINS!!
Post by: wigo21 on October 12, 2013, 12:56:37 AM
Does anyone know if it's possible to trace stolen bitcoins? I am interested in hiring someone or a company to help. Also, are there any type of bitcoin security companies out there?

Possible, maybe. Chances that you're going to get any success with it, very slim.

If the scammer send the stolen bitcoin to an exchange or a casino, and then withdraw the bitcoin to his newly generated personal address, you can no longer trace the scammer.

You can trace it up until a certain point, then the rest you'll have to do more research on. So you would be able to find out if they were deposited into say an exchange sites BTC address, but I think that's about it. You could probably contact the site and if you work out a deal with them but most of these BTC sites are shady as hell. I've been trying to get my Bitcoins out of Mtgox for a couple weeks now, hopefully they aren't slowly fucking people over like every other scam site with BTC.

Almost none, well if the bitcoins are withdraw from your wallet to the other wallet, you can still trace which address did the bitcoins go.

if stolen bitcoins pass thru a washing machine or a laundry, is near to very impossible to trace them.

Lol, it's decentralized currency. You simply can't ask for some agency who will bring back your lost coins.

You can offer a reward if anyone know owner of the address these coins were moved to. This way maybe the casino owner say it is deposit address and its withdrawal address, so you can continue searching

You could attempt to have someone trace them or trace them yourself, but there is a high probability you'll never see your coins again.

You can't get your coins back if they were sent to an address, it's decentralised currency, there's no authority to control transactions or refund those coins. If they were sent to an exchange, you can contact them in order to get some information about the account that was used in the deposit.

This is nonsense….. and a complete misnomer.

The "washing" company would have a record, the only reason you consider it 'not transparent' is you do not have access to their meta-data… but they do….
If transactions were not traceable then Bitcoin would not work……
