Title: Fan to use with BFL 60Gh/s Post by: DebitMe on October 12, 2013, 06:16:07 PM Ok, I have 2 BFL 60 GH/s machines and they are louder than heck. I am moving into a new place next weekend and the units will have to be in a room with me and I do not think I will be able to handle the noise. For this reason I have heard that you can replace the fans with quieter ones, but I am unsure about which fans to use.
Could someone who has replaced their fans in their 60 GH/s units please recommend a fan to use? Will any 120 MM fan work? Thanks for your help and experience. If you just remove the case (leaving the stock fans) - it will literally cut the noise down by 50% and gets rid of that "whining" noise you also hear. I did that to mine and I can no longer hear it through the walls, ha. To answer your question- yes any standard fan will work (it's just 2 fans with extension rods holding them). Case removal + silent new fans = silent and great performer Will the temperature be fine for the boards by removing the case fans? What temps do yours run at without the case? Fans MUST be with 3 pins connector ! I replaced mines too because of the noise :P Title: Re: Fan to use with BFL 60Gh/s Post by: r3animation on October 13, 2013, 09:31:05 AM I use gentle typhoon 1850rpm fans on my single. These are the fans that most water-cooling setups use. A bit pricy but very quiet and efficient.
I don't use the case fans or the case. The gentle typhoon fans sits on the heatsink in place of the 92mm fans. So only 2 fans are running and the single stays at 60c. |
