Title: Are there any mining pools that work through proxy servers/firewalls?
Post by: rlh on July 22, 2011, 04:58:08 PM
I have a kick-ass computer at my work that I would LOVE to have mining.  My problem is that my office has a proxy server/ and a firewall that  blocks a ton of a-typical ports-- 8332 is one of them.

Is there a mining that has can be used through a proxy that also uses a port like 8080 for communication?  So far, the only miner that I've been able to use is BitcoinPlus.com since it's Java/Browser based.  It works, but as you can imagine the has rate is awful.

Should be easy enough to set up an SSH tunnel to your home computer and forward the miner connections through that.

But don't use the computer for mining if your employer does not condone with it. If you get fired it's not worth mining 5 BTC a month. ;)

rfcpool allows port 80 which should pass through just about anything (see sig)

Ok, thanks.  Awesome! I'll give it a try on Monday.

Eligius also works on port 80

We also have a fallback against port 80, http://port-80.bitlc.net should work as URL.

(The mainpool runs at 8080 since ages back by the way... :) Just connect to http://bitcoins.lc and you're ready to go)
