Title: Would you like an ICO scam alert/verify/check website?
Post by: inscyrpt on March 10, 2018, 06:15:10 PM
Would you be keen on a service that:
-Let you submit a suspicious ICO and we send back our review (whitepaper analysis, research on the team backgorund) by our team of technical and legal experts (my co-founder is lawyer).
-Sends scam alerts.
-Send a curated list of known scams and advice to avoid scam.

Would you use such a website? Would you sign up for such a service?

I'm on the verge of developing such a website, but would like to get your feedback.

Thanks in advance! I'd love reading your suggestions and comments.

No matter you're trying to build your site, investors should also do a lot of consideration from similar sites before deciding ICO indicated a scam.
perhaps your site is better than others.

Prevention is better than cure. Having such a ICO's scam alert is really a big help to the people who are investing to it.

For the first parts, Yes. But,

Would you use such a website? Would you sign up for such a service?
Why would a visitor have to sign-up in order to use a website that list and review ICOs?

There are dozens of sites that does the same job, even google can tell: Google Search: ICO Scam Alert Website (https://www.google.com.ph/search?rlz=1C1CHBF_enPH768PH768&ei=tBOmWpXLDMv98gX4g4PYBA&q=ico+scam+alert+website&oq=ico+scam+alert+website&gs_l=psy-ab.3...2048.2048.0.2405.1.1.0.0.0.0.148.148.0j1.1.0....0...1c.1.64.psy-ab..0.0.0....0.Vzdbw--UWfo)
Just use them for comparison, find what to improve, what to add and remove.

So you have a team that will review ICOs?I guess that people will have to pay for your services.
I think that most of the ICO review websites are free,it will be almost impossble to compete with them.
Nowadays everyone can create a Facebook,Skype or Telegram group about ICO scams and everything is 100% free.Investigating the ICO team background could be very difficult and expensive.
Can you share with us more about your business model,OP?

We already have a similar site for other scams, http://www.badbitcoin.org/ - Go check it out. I presume your site will be more focussed on scam ICOs?

As you can see the above mentioned site is free as a service to the community and their income are generated from advertisement income. A subscription service will not work, if people can get this kind of information for free.

I understand that you have to pay people for their inputs. < lawyer > but that has to come from the premium upgrade, if that is needed or from the advertising.

This would be interesting. Personally, I do my own research when I want to know whether something is a scam or not. If there were a website which would help me verify scams, I would definitely use it. With numerous scam ICO these days, many would want to avoid these scams as well. Your idea may help a lot of other people and would help them save a lot of money as well. It's also interesting that your co-founder is a lawyer, who may help with liabilities. Your service would be very convenient for bounty hunters out there.

Well, I believe that can be a good idea. You should definitely give it a try!

And by the way, there are hundreds of ico listing site, but they still continue to show up - and that's ok. The more info, the better for all of us :)

If he do have a team then he would really need to paid up those people from his own pocket.Considering that checking out every ICO's information wont really be an easy task and very time consuming and you would need people to do this to have a broad range of listing which would be posted on the site.As davis said there are lots of free service which do post out scam ICO's and other related crypto investment throughout the market which people will always go for free stuff than on paying up such website for those informations.Even on paid ones it doesn't mean that those have 100% accuracy when it comes to detecting.
