Title: Bytecoin difficulty change
Post by: cshelswell on October 13, 2013, 04:59:01 AM
So there's only 748 blocks until the Bytecoin difficulty change. Any predictions up or down?

I'm thinking down then everyone will jump on it with asics so it'll be a short lived dip.

Predict a brief drop to 25K, then spike to 100K and death.

I am strongly against merged-mining, but merged-mining increasingly looks like the final, faded-out fate of Bytecoin.

I hope not but I wonder if you might be right. There's lots of other coins that seem to be holding their ground. Perhaps it's the quick re-targetting that allows them to do that?

For a small coin, a block retarget of 2016 is death. See Nibble and CHNCoin for the scrypt counterpart.
