We could have seen that coming after Facebook banned crypto ads. In February regulators asked Google to band crypto ads too. Maybe we'll get anti-crypto ads next, just like the tabacco industry is forced to do.

This may be FUD but its about time that they follow the footsteps of Facebook in showing ICO ads in their platform since ICOs are not controlled and could only result to scam in the long run. We all know that majority of the public very much trusts Facebook and Google on their ads especially those really have no idea about investing in crypto. Let's just see this as a benefit and make our own study about a certain ICO first before investing. It may affect the crypto market though so ready your funds for some dips again.

The banning of ICO and cryptocurrency in social media sites will lead to a downturn of cryptocurrency. The google also followed the footstep of Facebook and I think there is a conspiracy with them.
For sure, if this is a FUD news then it will probably affect the price of cryptocurrencies. Well, I don't know the real reason behind this ban but I gather some news that Facebook will make a new coin and I think that will also be the reason why google will remove ICO in the search engine.

I imagine it is probably just the sponsored links at the top of the page that they will ban, if that's the case this won't make all that much of a difference, I don't feel as though these really pull in a lot of investors.

For now what you have read is just one of the theories since google hasn't given a formal statement that they are banning ICO and crypto ads. In fact, there are more theories regarding this matter. Some said FBI is pressuring google to ban ICO and crypto ads, some say it is a Canadian official who wants google to do it, but according to google's reply on financemagnates.com's query regarding this, promotion of ICO and crypto ads is still allowed in their platform.

Well, this is a big shit of Google. Maybe they want to loose many profits that they will gain in advertising sites kn their site. Google are getting benefits from it and I know that it will not happen because This is a fake news. Maybe if it happens, Maybe people will be alarmed that We should try to mine bitcoin and not to have refferals in social medias.

First facebook now google so if google will ban the ads related to crypto then maybe videos on youtube related to bitcoin will be remove too? In my blog i cant see a ads related to crypto currency i think they already did that, they are not into crypto currency that is huge down fall.

There are still ads on crypto currency and I think that too youtube will be the next of it if google will removed ads but I hope it will not come because many of us earning from youtube videos thru adverisment from it. It's probably because many crypto ads are infected by a malware which like Facebook and Google doesn't want especially there are many hackers everywhere. This is why when you try to download an wallet in your computer from an altcoin that you are investing the antivirus will detect it as a malware. It is really not a surprise for me that they will ban this kind of ads.

It may become a FUD for cryptocurrency in the short term but eventually when the developers of the coins will be able to deliver what they promise and follow their whitepaper then they may allow again the advertisement of some cryptocurrencies. I can see now that they still allow it but it is not surprising they would ban it because of what facebook did. It's definitely good though, most of the time those ICOs spending their fund on advertising don't even have a chance to compete in the future crypto market. They are mostly MLM, Ponzi tokens or worst scams that could potentially harm new investors. I don't really think they make  any of the technology they mention, it just the money. I agree to you. Banning bitcoin and other altcoins ads will affect the price. of bitcoin and other altcoins because it will not able to introduce them to the people around the world. We all know that advertising is one of the reason why a project becomes successful.

I really don't see this happening and I can tell you that Facebook is still allowing ICO ads but all they wanted to do was monetise the process instead of having people promote it without paying. Google will be doing similar in trying to monetise promotion of crypto projects.

This is fake news. As we all know that the demands on the digital currency is growing and it is an earning also with google from the people who are aware of the digital currency. This is another faucet of google earnings and they already know about its potential as to cater the interest of thousands or it could be millions of people having with the interest in the cryptocurrency. I believe that this is because they are not being flagged as cryptocurrency adverts or the people running them are just ignoring that it's against the T+Cs. It wasn't to do with monetizing them (you can still promote crypto on facebook just not with ads) as it is not with google either. All adverts on google are monetized by them so it's definitely not for that reason.

I think the ico adverts are annoying to be honest and anybody making investments to ico's on random google sites are probably not the type of investors you are aiming for. I think the amount of money in the ico market that comes from the type of people who click on these types of adds is very small so I don't anticipate this having much of an effect.

Placing a ban on the display of ico related ads is a right step in the right direction by Google although It might have some disadvantages but the advantages outweighs the disadvantages. At least, those scammy projects won't have the opportunity of getting attention from members of the Crypto-community. Over 90% of past projects that have all turned out to be a scam or a failure were all advertised on Google at some point in time.

Google CEO has crypto already? Source? If this would happen, then obviously it will be the very bad news. Though BTC market is self regulating but still the number of investors is badly affected by the negative publicity. Because the crypto market is very good and well respected. That is a good sign that facebook and google benefit from advertising them. So there's no reason for them not to promote Crypto.

In my opinion this is a good move by Google. Facebook had banned it in January and Google followed and banned adverts for cryptocurrencies including both BTC and initial coin offering ICOs, to tackle emerging threats. I think it's a great step as many ICOs are scam and their only purpose is to scam people. People who are related to cryptocurrencies will research and avoid scammers.

Although this news had been gone for too long. I wanted to clarify things in regards to this issue to remove FUD over newbie investors in this industry. The ICO ads bitcoin had banned were those that are violating the google license agreement wherein these ICOs might have been spamming their ads without consent to people's feed and  timeline or whatsoever. Not only google, but also facebook and twitter has followed this and they are also banning the ICO ads. I have heard unconfirmed news that Linkedin is also planing to block such ads. So i think the whole social media is banning them. The Thing to understand is that they are only banning ICO ads and not the bitcoins itself. google is just regulating the ICO ads in their platform as of today because there are a quite lot of ICO in the ads of google I always gets some of them so I think they are just regulating the ICO and not banning it.,

I am not surprised with the news as they have taken similar steps in past for some companies. Problems is some people are fooling people with their fraud crypto projects and thus Google had to ban all ads.

The Google ban is to take effect next month. However, I don't think it has a tremendous effect in the crypto community, more especially on ICO investors as there are other search engines out there aside from Google, like Yahoo, Bing, Ask.com, AOL.com, etc. Also, I think that it's far better to ask the community here in the forum for good ICO investment rather than using Google as you might get scammed... it's the reason why they'll ban it, because of ICO scam, right?  ;D 

Google banned ICO and crypto ads because they don't want to get involved with some scam ICO. Because some scammers used Google to scam people.

To begin with facebook now google so if google will boycott the advertisements identified with crypto then perhaps recordings on yt's identified with bitcoin will be expel as well? In my blog I cannot see a promotions identified with cryptographic money I think they as of now did that, they are not into digital currency that is colossal ruin. Sure they really want crypto to go on its pit of chaos

Those are obviously fake news since everyday I keep seeing new ads from ICO on Google and youtube. Anyway Google wouldn't bann crypto ads because there is no reason for them to do that. They probably ban shit ICO that are spamming with ads everywhere and look suspicious but they do that with any ad that doesn't look good. There are no official news from Google saying they have something with cryptocurrencies because they don't have any reasons for that.

For well-known crypto don't need advertisement. Investors will make own research, anyway.

Twitter has already banned crypto ads i think if google does the same it will be a big blow to the crypto tech world because this ads creates awareness and gives usefull information to prospective investers

finally Google follow FB and Twitter policy to prohibit crypto ads and ICO due to the rampant scam, malware, and phishing in the ad. as we know that Google plays an important role in ICO sales and I think this will slightly affect the impact of current market prices, this is bad news because the possibility of prices going down

a lot of information and news I know from the forum is cool. but I'm a little confused as to how this could affect the price? or the risk is dangerous and you can lose your investment?

I sell advertising for BitTorrent and am very close to people at Google, Facebook and Twitter who have told me that from a promotion standpoint (at least in the US) their lawyers see way too much potential liability at this point taking in advertising.   A factor is that promoting a product or service from a distributed network may be hard to track down should there be an issue.

However as people have stated here all of the aforementioned companies will be incorporating crypto-currencies into their offerings and they really cannot stop people self promoting in their postings.

I think that cryptocurrency is all about technology in the first place, and all these bans from Google, Facebook, Twitter, are unimportant, and they shouldn’t reflect on the price so much as they usually do.

I support the prohibition of ICO advertising. Many investors do not understand anything, and listen to some scam ICO advertisements causing serious losses. I think this is their protection.

I have naturally heard about it but in reality, nothing happens. You can just open Google, and you will find a LOT of ads devoted to different ICO projects.

I think that this is a very stupid move from such a giant as Google. This violates many of their user policies. I think smb "very strong" told them to do this in future.

I think a lot of the crypto project have no ready product yet and it's even a good think that they ban it. Who is advertising? It's hard to get white listed in a good ICO, bad ICOs are spamming you.

Google ban has a big impact in cryptocurrency, but it is only for ICO. It i better that way to minimize scammer in the industry. Usually new investors always look for information in Google and they taken for granted to research more about the specific coin.

Yes, this is the right decision very much among the projects of scammers. Good projects and so do not need advertising, but all sorts of scammers at the expense of such advertising and deceive people
