Title: Bitcoin on CNBC
Post by: CurbsideProphet on July 22, 2011, 08:27:50 PM
I THINK this is the same article posted a few days ago, it's dated today but reads very similar.  Anwyay, it's prominently posted smack dab in the center of their homepage today.

It seems to me that the attitude toward BTC in the mainstream media has changed significantly in the last few weeks.  It kinda makes me wonder if the potential utility of BTC has not become apparent to a new segment of players.

Bitcoin survived allinvain's 25,000 BTC theft, the MtGox compromise, and an onslaught of malware, which combined are very nearly the worst that could possibly happen. You can expect the media to be a bit less skeptical now.

I would of hired a team of private IT investigators if it had happened to me. Would have been nice to catch whoever did it. I think the rally is apparent now.. the bears have no excuse but to jump in.

If I were an optimist, and I am, I would guess that they featured it today because it got significant traffic when they originally posted it. They saw it was popular, so they stuck it on the home page. Probably as simple as that.

I love the title... "The New Currency"  Couldn't have put it better myself.

That's actually a really good and well-researched article.  It doesn't make any major mistakes about the way Bitcoin works and it doesn't talk about Bitcoin with a prejudicial bias (as some of the articles that focused solely on The Silk Road did).  Getting such serious treatment by CNBC is very big news.

A Howard Johnson hotel accepts bitcoins?  That was the biggest surprise in the article for me.  Anyone find a reference for it?
