Tokens are powered by coins. Tokens do not have their own blockchain and its transaction fee should be on specific coins. Just like ERC20 tokens, they are all powered by Ethereum which is a coin right? Its transaction fee should be paid by ethereum. As far as I know, there is no staking in most of the tokens. Below are the full list of coins and tokens in coinmarketcap.

Do you even search about it correctly ? So let make this simple, Coin have they own chain thats mean it have its own chain, token in other hand is like utility or assets that created on top that coin chain. For example we have Ethereum this is called coin anything created on ethereum smart contract will be named token.

Tokens are built on top of coins like an erc 20 token, they do not have their own blockchain they are used as a utility on top of a coins network.

What? You still don't know what the differences between tokens and altcoins while you are in member rank? The difference between altcoin and tokens are altcoin have their own code and blockchain amd also a wallet while tokens are they don't have a code or a own blockchain but they are running under ERC20 contract under ethereum blockchain. If you want more info about this i suggest you should search the web.

Both of them are also cryptocurrency but they're not the same :)). When a cryptocurrency can be called "coin", it must have it own blockchain vice versa token is cryptocurrency created depend on other cryptocurrency blockchain and almost token on the market atm created depend on ETH blockchain and Waves blockchain. I think it's enough for you to understand why their are "token" and "coin"

How about getting free coins with the real, massive free airdrop of marinecoin? Not tokens, coins.

Rooted project (staredt in 2013) recently resurrected from its ashes.

In 2018 Marinecoin will stand up again, if you register https://marineco.in/ you get 450,000 MTC, free of charge, a real giveaway.

There is also a referral program, the trading is already begun and it is on platform. More than 90% of the coins are pre-mined, so we have to make the most out of the airdrop!

Join marinecoin: register and follow the instructions. No personal data required. Get this deal before it’s over.

The difference is only in technology. I think that ordinary users will not notice the difference between tokens and coins. Especially if this user buys a coin / token only for speculation.

Tokens and coins were almost the same, the difference that has been mentioned is the way it function. With coins they have their own blockchain, whereas with tokens they were developed based on a blockchain technology. It can be of smart contracts platform or the waves, omise, etc.

If I remember correctly, this question has been asked several times ago . But let me say this :
The main difference between coins and tokens is that coins have their own blockchain ( platforms where transactions are executed consecutively ) while tokens don't have it , so they have to use a coin blockchain ( for example erc20 tokens "which are the most known ones" use Eth blockchain )

Tokens are just unit of accounts on a particular platform.

A coin is the native currency of a platform. Also tokens are usually used in ICOs when companies are selling something that they have not fully developed yet, so that they can only basically issue an IOU on the ETH network.

That's the major difference... For example Ethereum is considered to be a coin, but EOS is considered to be a token, since you can't actually pay gas on the ETH blockchain with EOS tokens.

tokens are supported by other platform with different infrastructure and coin from token project. A coin uses his own technology to support transactions.

Basically the same coins. But if the token was released using another party blockchain, while the Coins was released using its own blockchain. Coins are developed from the ground without any third party assistance.

Tokens are generally hosted on another blockchain, like Ethereum or Waves. It is a much easier to create tokens as developer does not have to modify the codes from a particular protocol or create a new blockchain and wallets from scratch. Most tokens are developed for the specific projects and ICOs while the coins are designed as a universal means of payment.

according to my own token is the output of an ico project in the form of a ticket while the coin itself as a currency that can be used anywhere.

A very satisfying explanation, I just found out about this and I feel wrong with the term coins and tokens.
I always feel the two terms are the same and there is no difference.

Tokens is made from the network of altcoins.
For example ERC20 tokens, it is created in the Ethereum network.
they used erc20 token for crowdfunding many ICO's.

Coins have their own wallets, platform, some of them can be mined.
Tokens based on coins, cannot be mine, don't have their own platform or wallets

Token use other platform for operation. There are many token which use Eth or waves platform and there is a time of contracts which for eth is minimum contract period is 3 years. But coin operates in it blockchain it self, no contract period the coin will life forever.

Why is everything created on ETH called coin in ICO? It should be called ITO.
