Title: Is Bitcoin Arbitrage possible
Post by: ofirbeigel on October 15, 2013, 11:37:31 AM
So I guess everyone who's new to Bitcoin has asked himself this. I've recently written a post (http://bitcoinwithpaypal.com/understanding-bitcoin-arbitrage-and-how-it-can-affect-trading/ (http://bitcoinwithpaypal.com/understanding-bitcoin-arbitrage-and-how-it-can-affect-trading/)) about this on my blog and will attempt it myself this week - I was wondering if any of you have any tips, tricks or useful insights they have learned when trying to conduct this. I'd appreciate the help so I'd waste as little time as possible on things I can avoid.

Just don't do it, its not call arbitrage, its "TOTAL LOST".

Let me explain why I said so.
1) Assume that you buy BTC at $130 each at BTC-E.
2) You then transfer it to Mt Gox and sell it at $150 each.
3) On paper you profit $20 but you can't withdraw any money from Mt Gox.
4) Mt Gox goes bankrupt and you lost everything :)

End of story.

I heard about the fact that it's hard to withdraw from Mt.Gox. I have only BTC there and haven't tried to withdraw them yet. Did you encounter anything like this ?

No problem with withdrawing BTC, just USD.
