Title: Facebook and Google Ban is really healthy for Crypto Community
Post by: TradeCrypto on March 15, 2018, 06:30:06 AM
Based on title Facebook and Google ban is really healthy move for Crypto world why??
Reasons are here
1) Huge scammers will be eliminated - Giving fake website similar to popuplar website or exchange . They were promoting using google adwords or adsense
2) ICO scammers will be reduced - Without any potential some scammers use facebook and twitter advertisement to attract investors . Soon collect  fund they disappears. Even no value projects were gaining huge Hype because of this platforms.
3)Crypto Community will be benifited - Ultimately once the ban happened for promoting ICO's or any crypto or blockchain projects Community like bitcointalk again will be the major resource .
4) Finally whales are trapping small and new investors buy dumping their huge holding even for small gossips or news.

Merits appreciated.

it is not healthy, it is not unhealthy either. it is nothing, it should be nothing.
it is just another centralized platform that made a decision about cryptocurrencies. it is exactly the same as saying Google banned torrent sites (which they actually did from their search results) but nobody gave a fuck and torrents are still being used massively because it is a decentralized way of file sharing between peers even if it is pirating!

so why in the world this has to be different for bitcoin which is THE decentralized currency?

besides things you said will continue to happen nonetheless, the scammers will continue to scam, you will continue to see fake websites for wallets, you will continue to see scam ICOs and all that. not much will change.

I don't really see any reason to worry about the ban of crypto-related advertisments. I personally haven't seen much of them since I'm using ad blocking software all the time. I saw only a couple of such advertisments and usually there were ads of cloud mining services or some quick profit websites which were obvious scam to me. It will be better for us if the ban wasn't removed, a lot of people probably got scammer by these websites. There are even fake MyEtherWallet website ads in the Google when you search for it. That's ridiculous.

This facebook and google ban are actually a double-edge sword. It is good that it can prevent and eliminate the scammers in operation but it is bad for the legitimate ones because they are also affected by this. The ban would lessen the exposure of the legitimate sites especially that Facebook is the largest social media and google is the largest search engine.

Yes maybe, but still there are a lot of crypto ads in google and Facebook, and a lot of them are scams from my point of view. So I am little bit skeptic about this restrictions.

The scammers will always be there so instead, people should educate themselves. I do agree that this is a good move though, this should somehow protect the average user and assuming that this will include phishing websites (If the ban is not only for ICOs) as well, that would be much better.

I don't know about the community as a whole, but I think it's great for beginners and the less tech-savvy.

How many times have you seen people get scammed by fake phishing wallets and/or exchanges thanks to Google ads? That's mostly a thing of the past now. These are still going to continue to exist for sure, but they will be much less visible to potential victims; the only way to propagate them now is through direct phishing attempts after all.

Either way, this isn't a very big deal in the grand scheme of things, and definitely shouldn't have caused a dip. If this is the reason for the sub-8000 levels, it's more likely due to anticipation of a drop rather than the content and effect of the news item itself.

You're approaching this events from a really logical point of view. In addition to these your sayings, I think that the prohibitions made by facebook and google will encourage the crypto world to create their own social media platforms.
