Title: What if Bitcoin price drops even further?
Post by: SillyGirl on March 15, 2018, 10:34:14 AM
I don't want to sound I am panicking, but the price of BTC has reached the lowest point this month. Checking on the chart of this quarter (https://www.coinranker.net/cryptocurrency/bitcoin) on 5Feb there was this dip when the price of BTC even went down to $6,500

I heard people around me they believe BTC price will even fall further. Is this really gonna happen?

It is possible to happen considering that bitcoin price movements has been up for a prolonged period of time and lots of uncertainty are going on(because of FUD's. I don't think it will fall back to as low as 2000-1500$ though if that happens it will be a real dilemma and we might see sub 1000$ again. Either way, the price is better comparing to when it was sitting at 200-500$ so it is not bad. Just don't panic sell for now it is wiser to hold.

The price can always go lower just as easily as it can always go higher. What we are currently seeing is panic selling based on the fall out from the Google news & that MtGox trustee douche dumping many coins.

No person can really tells you what is going to happen in future and I don't think we can actually tells if the price is going to fall further and if price is going to go up from now and the future will tell what is going to happen. However I am very optimistic that bitcoin is going to recover soonest.

In my view maybe no.  'cause as we see the price now is gradually increasing from 7k to 8k and maybe this time it will go back to the current price or it will exceed , unless if there's no negative issue again that can push back the bitcoin price.  Just ignore your friends mate 'cause they will repent  for sure when bitcoin jump again to the all time high value .

Search more about those friends, many be you will find that they have sold their coins at those big dump at very low price and now willing to buy it back at same or below that price ;)

There are many such investors who want to get back in again that's why they are creating such fuds which is fueled by different legal restrictions and rules coming out from different countries. Market is actually going through heavy dumping right now but there are buy supports at different level.

Hold tightly what you have....

It might. Ask yourself if there are any reasons to buy bitcoin right now. If you were a noob, would you buy? I might buy at $6000 (and I've got some orders placed at that level), and I think that's the attitude of most people...

This month big dumps are happening but it is not a constant fall. Again it will raise soon the current crypto market is fluctuating continuously so we should wait for one month everything should be normal and it is going to moon. So this is right time to invest in Bitcoin because if you invest know it makes 2x profit in only two months. I hope this year end it will reach 30k USD in crypto market.

I've read it too with others analysis on social media. I don't know where they are getting this type of prediction but there's no clear reason why it will go further. The only thing that I can't right now is many are on panic and starts to cash out so it will be followed by a big dump.

That is in mind of every bitcoin user . The price is tending to be highly fluctuating keeping in mind with the new discovery of the Mt. Gox trustees sell off and other controversies regarding it in countries like South Korea . Bitcoin may get down to $6000 but if it went further down it would create a lot of panic even though it is true that bitcoin would recover again in a short time again . But the "panic" is never off the table , even when it is touching moon's height.

I also think that the value of Bitcoin would still and continuously go down and I am actually waiting for its lowest peak for me to invest. Yes, it is a risk to take but I am willing to take since I believe that in time Bitcoin will unexpectedly rise its value again.

I will keep my bitcoin because i strongly believe there will be a huge increase this year simultaneously all of which have a positive effect on the growth of bitcoin, among others:
1. Increasing number of new users,
2. The increasing number of adopters
(Although both don't provide significant changes but at least provide protection against bitcoin values),
3. There is a possibility that large whales will manipulate bitcoin prices to be higher than the previous year.

maybe the price will go down further, maybe it won't.
Some people say it needs to go deeper to trigger a bull run

That could then be descibed as panick buying? :)

Holding is the only option when the price keeps decreasing if you sell at this time then you actually lost your capital investment. But still there is chance for more price drops becuause just now the rumor created about google ban so it will make its impact on the price soon.So just hold is the thing we need to do now.

we never know what will happen but eventhough bitcoin price drops even further we should be able to survive and never panic selling because if people sell their coin in this situation maybe it will worsen of the market situation and what we fear will happen. just hold and believe bitcoin price will back on high price.

Bear markets are long. I thought it was possible to have a small bear market, as we have a bull trend still alive, but it seems I was wrong. Bear markets are always long, a true crypto winter.

This bear market can go as long as 18 months, and the price can plunge as low as $800. We cant even touch our bitcoins now, cant buy anything with it. Bitcoin will fail hard as a currency as long as this bear market continues, no matter how the technology develops, no matter how many sidechains. And people will not buy it, afraid that it will drop even more.

So, we have to go long, and expect to sell our coins only by 2020. You'll have to reduce exposure, in case you need the money until there. But if you dont, just hold it, because there's no reason to sell at a loss.

Nobody know what could happen but I think it wont drop too much. Maybe 7k is the minimum value to the crypto community. And when bitcoin went down to that value, it recovered really fast. I think bitcoin can reach 20k this year or maybe more.

Always?

What about early 2012, after the run-up from $2 to $7.50? That correction lasted ~4 months. In mid-2012, after the spike to $16, the correction lasted ~3 months. After the April 2013 bubble, we bottomed in early July, ~3 months later.

There are no historical parallels to 2014. It's in a league of its own regarding time.

One thing to keep in mind is that we've never had a bull market as long as the 2016-2017 run. The cycles probably take much longer than in previous years. So even if this is more like 2012 or 2013, it could take a year or more to play out.

Can you write pros and cons of high price before saying that falling of it is bad?
High price also caused high fees, which for me, as a bitcoin user is very bad (don't tell me to use altcoin, I need btc currently).
Now we have it between 8-9K and that's great, I think this is the optimal price for bitcoin currently, everything works perfectly.
What if it falls? Nothing, because nothing was happening 1 year ago when price was 600$.

The more people panic, the cheaper the coins will be for me to buy back, so go ahead. :D

We have been through similar market phases many times already, but yet people still seem to panic over nothing. Seriously, from $1000 last year to +$8000 right now, how bad can this market be with that in mind? Bitcoin had to fall back down, because of how the market has been pumped up due to the insane level of speculation last year. Take that speculation away, and the market is guaranteed to come back down to more appropriate levels. As long as we remain above the $6000 level, there is literally nothing to worry about. Why do people find it necessary to constantly look at short term fluctuations, while in the longer term everyone will look back at current prices and regret not having bought when they still had the chance....

Yes it is quite possible, because a lot of people easily belive the FUD news, that is the one that causing the panic sell and price dropping, the banning of ads related from facebook and google actually not going to hurt anyone, but because of this news people sold their coins, this is the result of investing in crypto without proper knowledge and preparation and this is also the one that causing the price keep on dropping, if the price drop but still have the chance to go up then its a good opportunity to make profit, the one that we afraid is the price go down without any ability to move up again, and I don't see that threat in bitcoin, so it will be fine

Nobody knows what is going to happen.  So I'd think it wouldn't be very wise to invest a great deal of your savings in Bitcoin at this very moment in time.  It's just too uncertain for people who value their money and don't want to end up losing it.

True, but both at that time and now, the bear market was started by Mt.Gox.

And we had already three months of bear market, since middle December when the building started to crumble.

We should be already above 12k, but we aren't. Correction, as a technical term, is already over. Now is just plain manipulation or massive panic selling (it can also be both).

The bull trend can last until May. I say that because last year the price started to go up for real in May, having only the fork crash in June and July, and that other in September due to the China FUD.

If the price do not recover by May, it will be uncharted territory.

The impression I get everytime I visit this forum, is of overall panic. There are multiple threads of panic, full of fear and doubt about bitcoin future (despite all the development). Those topic starters screaming for people not to sell are the ones who are itching to sell, and they want confirmation that others are not going to sell like they want. At the same time, we have only 4k unconfirmed transactions at this moment.

I hope when it recovers we have a full functional sidechain.

Don’t listen too much to them. They want you not to worry, but to sold your hold bitcoin and invest on the coin they are investing with. If that is your friend or a relative, prove them wrong and if bitcoin price increases then don’t treat them on a dinner. Just kidding. Bitcoin can drop its price, but risk is irrelevant when future high price is possible.

The more people panic, the cheaper the coins will be for me to buy back, so go ahead. :D
This is the advantage when the price of bitcoin fall further.

True, but both at that time and now, the bear market was started by Mt.Gox.

I don't think so. The collapse of Mt Gox may have accelerated things, but it didn't fundamentally change anything. The market was not devoid of competent exchanges and volume went elsewhere, as expected.

Remember, the 2014-2015 bear market occurred after a 5-year bull market. We can't only consider it in relation to the November 2013 bubble and the Mt Gox collapse.

And we had already three months of bear market, since middle December when the building started to crumble.

We should be already above 12k, but we aren't. Correction, as a technical term, is already over. Now is just plain manipulation or massive panic selling (it can also be both).

My feeling is we're still squeezing early bulls, those who thought they could just keep buying every dip.

The time to squeeze late bears (those who think they can just short every bounce) is coming soon.

Where I think we're going:

A measured move from this pattern would net $14,000 or higher. That's in the realm of the retracements we saw following the top in August 2012 and April 2013 (58%-62%). Those are my models for the current correction.

It's possible, as you've already mentioned, it did fall down to $6.500. However, I don't think it's going to happen this time, it did fall down to $7.000s but has already recovered a tad bit, I think it will recover in the next 1 to 2 days at max. It's a great opportunity to buy BTC currently and sell at a higher price within the next week.

Well, if the value of Bitcoin and other altcoins decline further it eventually create an avenue for one to buy at a cheaper rate with the hope that it will rise in no distance time from now and will be able to make huge profit. So that shouldn't be a much issues of concerns as that is for good in disguise.

It is quite possible from happening but I really feel that it won't go much deeper maybe reaching only $5k. Of what a worst thing happen before, certainly it won't happen again as the numbers of crypto users are now increasing and it be a big help for the market recovery.

Yeah, the price keeps going low and a lot has been in the panic mode. Well as I have said, this is another perfect time to get in the market will its at a discount.

The Mt. Gox trustee dumping is already done. I don't know why people thinks it is still the main factor as to the current nose dive of bitcoin. Its really the panic sellers who are doing this. Stop with the Mt. Gox argument. Its becoming non-sense now.

If people would try to understand what's going on, there's no coin movement of the Mt. Gox trustee, its really the weak hands that are exiting because they really got murdered when they bought bitcoin at the top price and want to cut their losses. But for most of us, we look at it at the price side. Cheaper coins now means we can purchase more coins.

The price can always go lower just as easily as it can always go higher. What we are currently seeing is panic selling based on the fall out from the Google news & that MtGox trustee douche dumping many coins.
Google news was never the problem and anyone that has ended up seeing a problem from that and dumping as a result of that is obviously not serious. Just the same way bitcoin did, Google had every reason to restrain cryptocurrency adverts as a result of scam, and so what is so bad in that which a lot of people are finding it hard to understand.

Although, the MtGox trustee is a contributing factor and since he has decided to do his stuff, I guess we will just need to see how the whole thing turns out. Even if he has paused now, that does not mean he would not still reconsider it based on whatever the court says.

Ever heard of this saying - Don't put your eggs in one basket. Bitcoin is only one of the many assets you can invest in right now and it would not be wise to tie your own future to it. As what the old timer's in investing say, diversify your portfolio. One can do very well on spreading your bets on the promising horses instead of gambling all out on a very risky favorite. It's from controlling the risk that one reap the gains.

I do not think bitcoin will crash any further, I see some of the coins have returned green and recovered. but, Do not count the ball goals until time ends in the world of cryptocurrency. if any bitcoin will go down, I do not think it will fall more than $ 7000. IMO at the end of this month we will get the price at a pretty good rate. I hope the following month its price can continue to grow until the end of the year, so that our hope to touch the moon will soon be implemented. you can continue to monitor prices here https://googleweblight.com/i?u=https://coinmarketcap.com/&hl=en-US

If that were to happen, then that will be the more reason to buy more bitcoin considering the price is much more affordable than the price last year, when bitcoin is going to its highest price and people are also panicking whether they will jump in the train or not. Thinking and waiting for a dip to occur again to happen so that they will invest more again, but that did not happen until now.

Why are we even worrying about the price at this moment but we need to keep calm at this moment and hold for long term if we are seriously interested in gaining Good profits. This worry leads to panic selling in the market which leads to even more price dips. The prices might go down even to $5000 or less but it will recover in this year soon and reach almost $25000 by year end. Hope you understand the point which i am trying to explain.

The more dips the ideal time to buy more btc at lower price. It will be always be helpful if you keep buying smaller qty regularly so that in future you will not regret when the btc rises like last year in 2017 where it made many people multi millionaire in a short time.

This worry leads to panic selling in the market which leads to even more price dips. The prices might go down even to $5000 or less but it will recover in this year soon and reach almost $25000 by year end. Hope you understand the point which i am trying to explain.
I always keep calm. I of course have to sell coins sometimes even at a low price in order to cover their priority requests. But the bulk of the money I keep and will never sell at low prices. It seems to me that in such moments, the coins changed their owners, and after that the coins will be sold at a higher price.

If bitcoin price drops very low we have to utilize the chance in buying. I see here the price has recovered slightly making a hope that it trends upwards, most of the times the price is struggling around $8000 to 8500 range and I think this bear market has ended up here and the price could move successfully and make up a run up to $9500 within short.

If bitcoin price is low it's a chance to buy bitcoin and hold it till the price is high. Before two days there is a price fluctuations, but the price is continuously drops. Today again the price starts to rise. It is a good change and if it continues the bitcoin holders will be very happy. So we expect again bitcoin going to be rocks in the market.

I don't want to sound I am panicking, but the price of BTC has reached the lowest point this month. Checking on the chart of this quarter (https://www.coinranker.net/cryptocurrency/bitcoin) on 5Feb there was this dip when the price of BTC even went down to $6,500

The results is merely a positive ones if ever that will happen more will buy bitcoin, and technically this will brought another price spikes so bitcoin will pump again until to the peak value. More fuds will try to ruin bitcoins popularity this time, when price drops eventually. However those panic buyer was just waiting to purchase at certain level that bitcoin started to rise for a few days, but the real score here was btc remains unpredictable for a series of days this month of march and we couldn't pin point exactly when or how it may became more frequently pumping nowadays.

Well, if bitcoin drops even further, I will buy as many bitcoin as I can because I know that it is the opportunity for me to become rich. It is not always a good chance to buy bitocin in the last year because it was too high. Right now, I think it is very ok for anyone who wants to own some bitcoin for the future purposes

I think the $ 95,000 figure can surely be exceeded, why? because bitcoin has Make Over its performance in a short time. Take a look
chart of prices, so many significant improvements occur. in my opinion, the price we expect at the end of April is seen OTW approach us. My prediction at the end of April this price will touch the $ 11,000 - $ 12000. if current prices continue to look green and increase, then the price I predicted this will most likely occur.

Even if he has paused now, that does not mean he would not still reconsider it based on whatever the court says.
i think there is no chance of it because its normal some time its price will be high and some time its price will be low so there is no need to worry about anything because bitcoin dont compromised on its price even when bitcoin price come low still its price s high then any other currency.

That’s right and for sure bitcoin will not be on that floor for almost 1day because a lot of investors will come and the price will go high easily. For me there’s no reason for panicking because in the long run it will soar higher.

if you do not want to take risks, then you will never develop, and forever you will work in someone's company. bitcoin provides an opportunity to change our lives. well, I know, that so many people go bankrupt because of bitcoin, but on the other hand, so many people become successful because of bitcoin. if the bitcoin price goes down, for me it is an opportunity to buy it.

Simple message to you is wait until Bitcoin price is up to gain profit. Bitcoin or any crypto market is volatile always and the price drops frequently but rises double the price where it got dropped frequently. Current price of Bitcoin trend is growing or rising and now it has reached $9000 which is a healthy sign for crypto lovers.

Yes, anything can happen and from the look of everything most especially with the low buying pressure, any slight panic can cause a quick sell off very fast. If we end up seeing a really low price at the end of the day, it would really be crazy but at the same time be a whooping time to get back in at a very sweet amount knowing that may be hard to come by ever again in the future.

If it drops further then we buy further. First, bitcoin's value went way below $6500. Secondly, going further down does not mean it is the end of the world or the end of bitcoin, as that apparently gives an opportunity to buy back under-priced and if anyone is willing to give me at that price, I would be willing to buy it.

OP's question is what if, and the answer is, it changes nothing and we should stop listening to everything that we hear unless we can make decision all by ourselves and if we cannot, just hold because we may end up selling at the wrong time.

This is possible but no one knows if this thing could really happen. The best thing to do in order to stop this is to avoid selling to make the demand high. Hold still and wait for its market value to increase. Consider also investing at times like this because huge profit will be earned once the market value of it starts to rise. Just be patienr about things in crypto beause all of this is normal and is experienced by most of the cryptos not only Bitcoin.

I am sure that the price of bitcoin will smoothly go up. Now we can relax and wait for the price to be above 20K dollars. For months, whales bought coins at an average price of $ 8,000. Now they have to raise the price as much as possible in order to sell their coins well. I don't think they'd want to sell coins for less than $ 17к- $18K . We are waiting for these indicators.

if the bitcoin price drops to such a price it seems unlikely because for now as I am interested in bitcoin conditions very much and extraordinary, not only that bitcoin demand is also very high than it seems to be difficult to get down to the bottom.

here uniquely the Light can not be, because many investors or traders trade Bitcoin from time to time to fill the home budget. Therefore, even if you need to sell, you will sell, despite the low price.

I would not mind either as that would give me a huge buying chance but at the same time, I always have this mind that whatever wants to happen will happen as we have no control over it and if we get to see the market dropping way lower, we will only end up making use of the opportunity to keep stashing in the more as much as possible. I do not know why the MtGox guy stopped though, I thought he would give more chance to buy back lower from him.

I don’t think anyone can say what is going to happen to the price of Bitcoin in the short to medium term, and whether it goes higher or lower over that time frame depends on the amount of selling pressure downwards due to bad news, poor market sentiment, panic selling, automated selling and large holders of BTC putting in large sell orders etc VRS selling pressure upwards due to good news, improved market sentiment, new buyers being drawn into the market by FOMO, institutional and other mainstream investment sources getting into the market once they’ve believed its bottomed etc. At the moment the bears are winning and that may drive the price lower.

But bitcoin and blockchain is a technology that I believe is going to revolutionise the internet and most other businesses and things we do in our lives over the next 10-15 years, and it’s use and adoption in the general population will increase from the current ~1% of adults to 15-20% by then at least and the price should steadily increase although with the bouts of speculative frenzy like we saw in December and the big crashes like we saw in February. That means you’re in the first 1% of very early adopters and if you believe in the coin and technology then there should be great returns over a long term timeframe!

I suggest you look at a long term chart of bitcoin prices from 2009 to now, both linear and exponential - and observe the steady upward growth in long-term average price, which should continue for the next ten years although with peaks and dips short-term and not the steadier upward line you see long term! And my impression is that bitcoin is currently about where it should be on its long term average growth line at about $8,500.

And finally remember that old advice that “you don’t realise a loss until you sell!”. Hope this all helps you have steady hands.

it is the fairest market , crypto are the most fair market . where in stocks or any other market there some people who hold a key role to decide to pull the trigger to make the market crash or not. so if you are not part of those people who have a big influence , you won't survive there.

i mean it is clearly crypto market are not manipulatable , it is always depends on us, and usually media drives people opinion . just keep looking for the information about trends. you will know that currently people testing the support on $9k . we'll see.

It's not that a bad thing about dropping price even more because that's a usual thing with bitcoin. However, some investors are much more affected with the drop and it counts each penny that they have invested. More or less for the holders, it won't matter because it is just aligned whenever the price of bitcoin drops or pumps. Always have control with your emotion when there are changes and take it just a challenge.

Nobody  wants to sound panicked but to be honest everyone is panicking inside right now . I  agree that the trends and the charts are not in the favor of bitcoin but they sure were before and the scenario is not that brutal right now . It is still around $8000 which is a pretty good value and there is "period" where bitcoin takes a troll at the holders and the investors maybe that time is now.

I really don't think so. Though it happens to fall but not possible of reaching it by $5k. Price may stabilize after market exchanger regulations and fully it gains another massive support from the community. Since regulations is currently in the process, a lot of people sell their coins in cheap cause they think that it won't recover anymore and absolutely they are wrong.

Yeah that's a good time to buy some bitcoins, many long term investors will be happy if the price of it go lower and lower because they'll earn huge amount of money in the next years if bitcoin rise again in the market. While those people who have really no knowledge will suffer their actions of panic selling because they really don't know what's happening on bitcoin and they just focusing on the price that whenever there's a price drop they will panic, so instead they earn money all they gained is stress.

Selling bitcoin for a minor dump or dump in general will be a stupid thing because whoever does that will end up regretting once the value of bitcoin is stable and pumps like many newbie did last time.
