Title: reset, health check and total power usage with domoticz on a pi
Post by: Jsmit83 on March 15, 2018, 09:51:30 PM
Hello,

Mining is for me a partime hobby (mostly setting up and maintaining the hardware),  I have a few cards running on 3 rigs.
But to be cheaper on the electricity bill and the heat, I have stored my miners elsewhere.
This brought to me a few problems (the most annoying was the freezes).
This problems mostly occur when you just go to bed or when you are a sleep.....
Also I'm a domotica (IOT) fan and build and program my sensors, switches, controllers with Arduino (really small computers).

this brought to me an idea to use this for my miners also, so I have installed Domoticz on a raspberry PI and placed this in the local network of my miners.
then I build an ethernet gateway with the libraries of Mysensors (to communicate with the PI and send radio 2.4 to switches ore anything I prefer).
to test, I first made a prototype switch to remote the reset pins on the motherboard.
I have found some bad photo's but its just to give an idea!  :o

ethernet gateway (also possible to connect with usb to the pi):

reset switchboard (this one build for up to 4 motherboards):

the pins can also be connected to the power button pins.
It uses there own power (phone charger is more then enough). It is also possible to connect it to the 5v but when that power supply shuts down I cannot remote the others.

There is also a build in "PC health check" that can send a Alert or activate the reset button.

this is the screen with the reset buttons of Domoticz:

This the screen of my power usage (not yet added to the location) but soon when the smart meter is installed!

the parts are real cheap and I already have these laying around.

hopefully this can help someone, it helped me a lot to just have the reset button on my phone....

Regards,

Jsmit83
