Title: What can you suggest to new investors in crypto?
Post by: andthereyou on March 16, 2018, 07:50:29 AM
Hello, this is my first thread as OP. I've been a member of this forum for 7 months now. I have observed/read in this forum that many investors(usualy new to crypto) have been worried about their investments in crypto-market these past few weeks because bitcoin and altcoins prices are getting lower and lower. Some lost 50-90% of their investment and ask in this forum if they have to sell or hodl.

NOw I just curious know on   what are you general suggestion/recommendation to those investors?

PS.
I've been investing and trading stocks for a few years before, now I shift to crypto. Thus this kind of downtrend had no effect on me. But Still I want know all your different answers.
 Thank you.

I suggest you divide your money designed for crypto investment in 2 parts.

With 50% you enter the crypto market and you use the rest of the money to buy more every x% of the downfall (where you decide what is x -  minus 50%, 100%).

Always have prepared money (invested but not spent yet on crypto) for emergencies and situations you can't afford to miss.

Do cost averaging on well stablish crypto coins like ETH, LTC or NEO and BTC and hold your coins for 1-2 years. Almost all newbies who invest here on crypto want to get rich quick and after they see that the market is falling they panic. If you're a long-term holder crypto crashes are just normal and you won't even get mad about it. Long story short buy and hold.

The most effective advice I got so far here from other investors as well is ONLY INVEST WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD TO LOSE. I think its a basic rule that if you are just a newbie or just a mid-risk taker, this one should be applicable to you. If you are someone who knows everything about the world then be my guest and go on invest everything you can since you know what you are doing. But for newbies or anyone who just joined crypto market for a hype and don't know what to do better only allow an amount that you think you can spend and lost in case the market is down. I see a lot of people ranting about their investments when they haven't converted it to fiat yet, for me that's a pessimistic attitude and shouldn't be in the crypto market at all.

The technology will be eaten the traditional system, Look at the amazon how that was implementing market with AI. Traditional system will be slowly abandoned by so many people, companies or even the world. Because we are moving towards the future which every thing can be done so easily through machine learning. Just like crypto that will make automation to our fintech and economic system.
That's it my suggestion for those investors.

I agree with Daddyj2 on this for the most part.  Basically, since we're currently going sideways, the way forward is to remind yourselves that this is still the beginning for crypto.   Though he suggests to hold your coins for 1-2 years, I reckon it a wise move to consider a slightly further outlook on things, such as holding with a 5-10 yr plan in mind.   It takes years for new technologies to really make it to the mainstream and crypto is no different.   When the kinks are all worked out and it's easy for your parents to buy in / use easily, that's when we'll all be laughing.

Thumb rule of the game is not to invest more than one can afford to loose. If you are putting away your retirement money in crypto, you are doing it wrong. Although crypto is at infancy stage and has a lot of growth potential, we need to see how the markets will respond in case if various countries at one put a ban over it. Another thing is not to get emotionally attached to any one alt, keep on flipping and moving to newer projects. Lastly, invest in fundamentally strong projects for long periods of time, 1-5 years. For isntance, if anyone bought the tezos ico, i would not recommend them to sell it at least before end of 2020.

I can recommend never to make emotional actions and HOLD and HODL. If you have invested, then set a goal as much as you want to earn and never sell at a price below it.

1. Forget about fiat money. Calculate your PnL in Bitcoin or Top10 index.
2. Buy only coins/tokens you understand and belive long-time and wait till it's get to the point you expect it to be.
3. If you still make a short-time oriented buys in tokens you know little about plan entry and exit points and don't use emotions.

I would suggest investing in ICOs for the new investors. ICOS prices have better chance of giving investors good earnings in a short period of time. Another option is to buy Ethereum which is one of the best altcoins out there.

Ethereum and Bitcoin are best investment but ICOs are risky investment we do not predict the future possibilities of crypto market so beginners are afraid in ICOs investment. I am always suggest to invest in Top ten cryptocurrencies because these are all potential coin so it will never drop in the future.

Be patient. Never throw all of your money at one thing at the same time. Long-term thinking instead of short-term thinking is important, too. Don't assume a coin has some sort of magical limit below which it will not drop. Trust your gut when reading a WP. Does the product solve the presented problem? Does the problem exist? What general impression does the WP give you? Is it well-written or incoherent? What kind of people does the product's ANN/Reddit attract? Is it a bunch of fresh accounts droning about how this will change the world or is there a genuine debate going on? Just a couple of points to keep in mind.

Your Experienced has the same  story of some investor here in crypto. because all of that circumstances is widely affect for all investor that is not selective for few   people that's like virus one for all and  all for one. but the worst scenario is how long did you wait the value become high.

there are times that you will have many token in different wallet but it is gradually become 0 value how could we convince other people if this is gonna be happen  in every crypto.
Sp, hopefully soon time has changed we are hoping to have a good new for every crypto currency that grows together.

I think a new investor needs to learn some basic common sense to invest!

The most important thing is to maintain a good attitude! Hold your own currency when the market falls!

I think for a newcomer, mastering a good trading strategy is the key to making money.
If you want to make more money, you should learn to stop the profit and stop the loss, which is a good way to do it.

to be patient and don't react emotionally on panic sales as it's what is hurting market right now. Just be patient and believe the projects you have decided to invest at first place

Investing in crypto currency is no different from other types of investment. It is necessary to observe the banal rules that are fair for all investors: do not invest in one asset, do not invest money that you can urgently need, have reserves, etc.

I would suggest to new investors that they should try to have enough patience. Truly all prices are down but what will now be the essence of making investments when one can't hold till the price rise and have a huge profit?.
That's why you shouldn't invest all your money, at least you should have some to rely on pending the time.

become familiar with pump and dumps because that will be the only thing that you will see in the altcoin market and if you are not aware of them and if you are not capable of taking advantage of them to make money then you will have a very hard time making any money at all. and you may even keep ending up on the dumping side of the process and keep losing money each time others who know what it is, dump on you.

There are actually lots of good opportunities for business connected with crypto currencies.
Many organizations are required to produce accounting documents about their activity. Using Bitcoin allows you to offer the highest level of transparency since you can provide information your members can use to verify your balances and transactions. Non-profit organizations can also allow the public to see how much they receive in donations.
So when we see crypto adoption in this sphere, we will see our Lambos  ;D.

Use this history of investment as experience and then make new risk management. And to recover the lose if have more times, trade it to get profit but if you dont have times and has free money more,  buy back at the deep to get other profit. And if you dont have skill and times for trading and no more free money, best way is hold it for long term investment.

that should investors look when entering and investing in crypto world , sometimes crypto is always on red for the couple of days and they should also look in the positive sides of being volatile of price because that is the good time to buy more and have the chance to earn in that way when the price rises .

If these investors look into the deeper depth of trading and trace back a couple years ago, they would see the trend in bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies market and see that it is normal to constantly fluctuate so if you have invested a lot on these coins know that it is better to invest them for long term than short term trading because you would realize you will gain profits but for longer term.

I would say that now is great time for entering the market. Previous investors have their investments mostly down about 50%, so they might not feel like buying more coins. At the same time, the prices are so low that it is almost certain they will skyrocket after some time, giving current investors good and safe profits. Thus, if one has coins then one has to hold them patiently, whereas if the coins are not bought yet then now is a perfect chance to do that. I am in the first group of people, but I believe in full recovery in summer.

First of all - invest that much money, that you can afford yourself to lose. Do not sell your house to buy another couple bitcoins. The second one for me - is investing in the alternate cryptos, because classic ones can not bring you that much income

If a person is not ready to accept rates going up and down, so he or she should rather never start.

Investing is not easy as it is illiquid, and risky, you have to be on the lookout for what's new and coming to be successful in it. Some suggestions I could give and share would be, know the business and the deal, have a diversified strategy and execute it, talk to the experts and understand growth.

I would also add the research part!

This alternate coins can be pump dependant and the coin which you think is actually good is practically pumped by a group of manipulators. In the time of your investment coin is starting to lose value and you can end with a big loss.

I am more fond of the top coins like BTC and ETH even if they cannot bring so much profit because their value is already overvalued.

A recommendation I would put in is to know what you're investing in, the project overall. Beginning from the team who is behind the whole idea, their background profiles, only if it is new to the scene. Understand how good or bad the token has been doing from the past 24 hours till up to a a month before.

Pro tip: Stay away from ICOs unless you're damn sure that it is going to be successful. (false in most cases)

Yeah, which those small investors have greatly much affected since those big investors will directly convert to fiats after they earn a great amount of profit. Well, we can't control them business is business which we need to do it on our own and hoping can earn as much as amount that we expected and I believe someday I can earn a great amount which can be a good investor someday.  :)
