Post by: coinpediaJordan on March 16, 2018, 11:45:15 AM
The Virtual Commodity Association will have regulations about information sharing, cybersecurity and fiscal responsibility. Members will have to comply to these regulations to remain members. The two brothers see it as the next step in the maturation of crypto markets

In my opinion there should be some kind of regulation, governing ICOs. If you can get a bunch of independent people

together to validate Crypto currency ICOs, before it is recommended to the public, then you could protect the investors

from some of these scams. This body could get authority to give their Seal of approval, once specific requirements were met.

We need something or someone to protect the investors, other than the government.  ;)

Cryptocurrency regulation does not equal protection against ico's.
A lot of people don't even invest in ico's.
It's all talk to be able to regulate everything in the end.

regulations do not mean consumer protections. consumer protections do not mean regulations

once people wise up to that truth, they would stop advocating for government regulations. and instead advocate only consumer protections

It's a good idea.

If self-regulation works well, the government tends to stay out of the way. They only intervene when markets clearly get taken over by scammers.

I find your remark to be very simple yet very to-the-point at the same time and I admit it has never occurred to me... I am all in favour of customer protection but I am not that convinced about other aspects of regulation, like heavy taxes that have been introduced in some countries. What you offer is a convenient way to be able to speak more clearly about an important issue.

The cryptocurrency community needs to mature, with their vocabulary included, it seems.

Totally agree.
On the other hand, government's regulations are made for letting government control crypto-world, and money leaking easier. The term "decentralized" would only have its half own meaning. The other half depends on by the regulations in the future.
