the reason is basically that goverments will try to put taxes and regulations to cryptocurrency.

The vast majority of coins are used by drug dealers, big whales, sharks, traders and huge investors that are IN crypto for money, they don't care about technology. If they actually cared, BTC and all other altcoins would have not lost 59% of its value since December.

if they are tracked , they cannot use crypto for money laundering or tax evasion, if goverments and banks are trying to discourage people from entering just by warning with hard regulations and they've succeded, well....there little more to be said.

noone is willing to be identified in a "supposed anonimous coin", paying taxes and suffering from huge drops. Investors are running away like this was bullshit.

The end is near. But not the end holders are willing to see. There will be more blood-bath, that will leave this one as the little billy.

All the cryptocurrency investors are depends on Bitcoin once it will down all are panic to invest in Bitcoin, Ethereum and all other cryptocurrencies so this is the main reason to drop the Ethereum. Google and FB announce some regulations in the crypto advertisement so it will completely affect the market.

There are a lot of reasons related to this dump, bad news, panic sellers or maybe the whales are trying to collect more ETH before a big pump. There are a lot of bad news are affecting to the whole crypto market from Google, Facebook, China,.....This is the worst time ever for the whole crypto market. I think we only can believe and hope it'll pass asap at the moment.

You know what they say... Buy low and sell for high!

This is not a cryptocurrency that I think will die off.  We are looking at a bull run in the near future.

I don't think so, When Ethereum drop isn't meaning cryptocurrency dead!
The increase and drop of cryptocurrency price that is normal thing in my opinion. because like we all know, cryptocurrency is very fluctuate, we don't know how it in future, even we don't know how it tomorrow.
You can see a few years ago, when bitcoin drop so far, did cryptocurrency die? No, the price is increase to be expensive price.
And need you know, all altcoin influenced by Bitcoin, if bitcoin drop so all altcoin will drop too. And the problem why Bitcoin drop? that because Google and facebook banned cryptocurrency ads, like what our friend explain before.
I think this is not for long time, because we don't need cryptocurrency ads to buy, sell or use bitcoin, so that will not influence Bitcoin later, we still can use it!

On the one side, all the altcoins depend on bitcoin. It's getting cheaper and all the other coins are getting cheaper on all these negative news. On the other side, I believe that this is all done specifically to create panic in the market and everyone sold it. In order to transfer money from weak hands to strong hands.

I think the price of BTC has fallen sharply. And the reason BTC reduction is also the reason why ETH decreased. Tightening the ad is the main reason for that.

Still this price is reasonable and feasible except if you have bought ETH before at higher price like $1,000+ but if you will new to the market then this price performance is just a normal like the other coins in the market like Bitcoin. It just happen that we used to see the price of ETH of $1,000 last year that is why some are confused to see the current difference of the value but we should remember that the ETH price was start to sky rocketing during the 4th quarter of last year so therefore we should wait and see if it will reach ATH again by September and should not ask about the end of the investment.

Its only for bitcoin price down. When BTC again will touch 12000$-14000$ line then all coin will up not the only ethereum i think. people now in a hesitate with bitcoin because in little bit time many more rumors come about bitcoin. So people are trying to sell their BTC now. I think It will take pretty more time to recover btc price. Then all coin will up again their previous price.

No. Its not dead. And in my opinion cryptos gonna stay here for next 5 years (to be on the safe side). After this dust settles down (the FUD and all the regulations etc.) everything gonna be normal and cryptos gonna be back in action. I hope there won't be pump n dump anymore which will be beneficial for the greater good of cryptos as a whole.

the current crypto currency is having a very tough problem. lately a lot of bad news about crypto currency that causes all the price of crypto currency is declining. the fall in the price of the crypto currency is caused because investors are afraid of investing in crypto currency, one of crypto currency that is experiencing a decline other than the bitcoin that is ethereum. Ethereum has a very low decline so that ethereum currently reaches $ 566.

Dead this coin can not be by definition, it is invested very much. Volatility is a thing that can both please and upset, but without it it would be boring. And why do you see only bad moments, because you can bribe coins for the future, as you plan.

Yes. it seems that the fall of the crypto-currency market is a pre-planned action. However, all this took too long. It is necessary to pull certain amounts from the crypto currency to cover current expenses, and the crypto-currency market is now very low for the third month. Here, even if you understand that someday it will rise, and even it will significantly rise in price, then it does not change anything. Altkoinov so much and they are very diverse in their functionality and areas of application. However, one bitcoquin fell in price and all fell and are without movement. This is very bad.

Most of the cryptocurrencies are being paired with bitcoin in exchanges. So when bitcoin price moves, the value of other crypto paired to it will be affected even if a currency remains stable. If it were to remove pairings of bitcoin to coin like ethereum in all exchanges and be paired to like USD. the price of ethereum won't be much affected if bitcoin is showing high volatility. This is just a hypothetical observation, there's other factors the makes etherium price to go down or up besides being paired to btc in exchanges. It could be a hacked ethereum and being dumped at once, it could affect etherium price in short term.

Sorry, but I don't create FUD here. And I guess you don't have any ETH investment that is why it's so easy for you to say that dips are small things, natural, and temporary. No offense, but I think you have missed the price graph chart (https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/ethereum/#charts) and/or you just simply don't even know how to read it.  :(

No offense, but I think you have missed the price graph chart (https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/ethereum/#charts) and/or you just simply don't even know how to read it.  :(

Speaking of reading the chart, I just had a look at it. And you seem to be talking about the ETH/USD chart, not BTC, so that's the one I looked at. Scroll out a bit and observe the following pattern: When the price reaches a low level that the big group of buyers decide is the "fair price to buy" and drive the price back up, we'll call that the support level or the "fair price level", this is where big volume of coins have been sold and then big volume bought the price up again. Now whenever this "fair price level" gets tested and broken, usually the chart plummets as people panic-sell their coins - but for this period of the time, the "fair price" has not changed! So usually, the big group of buyers steps in after some hours (or sometimes days) and brings the price back up to, or close to, that "fair price level". In fact, you can see this in the last few days:

On March 15, the "fair price level" that I am talking about, where large volume was sold and then large volume was bought, this is visible at about $570. March 17, we have the big panic drop that you were concerned about, but it has already returned to the fair price level of $570, if only for a short time! If you carefully examine the chart in the past, you can see this pattern repeat over and over again. The new "fair price level" was reached on March 18 at about $460. So if the price drops significantly below that, another panic dive followed by a short-term buyback to about $460 is quite likely.

This is all just my own opinion and thoughts, you make your own decisions and take your own risks. But I do not think the evidence suggests that ETH is in anyway "dead" right now.

I think that Ethereum is influenced by Bitcoin. The skyrocketing growth of Bitcoin led to the rise of all cryptocurrencies, and the price of the cryptocurrencies after the rebound. The current price is like a whale selling Bitcoins, trying to clear those who do not trust Bitcoin. If it is a long-term investment, I don't think it really needs panic, because the blockchain will get more applications this year.

I suppose that all the cryptocurrencies have the strongest connection. Do you remember the recent time, when Bitcoin was running very fast up? Ethereum was also growing. Now they are down, but it will not last forever.

It is called price fluctuations, market corrections, someone is selling their own ETH and someone is going on to the mode of panic selling due to some factors that we've already know, we can also consider the ads ban on the social media giants and the biggest search engine in our world, ICO's have a vital role in the growth of ETH as to why it is falling is because some projects paints a negative impression to people that results from withdrawing to cryptocurrencies, hoping those scams will cease to exist.

Bitcoin has a direct impact on all the other altcoins if you have NotciEs last year around October till last week of December bitcoin was so bullish and other altcoins like ethreum and ripple shot up like crazy then again when the bitcoin plunged other alts dropped down as well.

now everything falls, not only ETH if ETH after all implements the technology allowing to return the stolen tokens released on their platform to owners, then we will receive at the coin exit, with the guaranteed protection that in a compartment with popularity and long-standing trust of already operating platform will give it big odds before the others. therefore I would buy in addition cheap efirka now, so far the action of whales works.

Its not just Ethereum whose price has fallen but all the cryptocurrencies. If it would had been only Eth then you could have said that somethings wrong. And just cause the price is falling doesn't means that a crypto currency is dieing. In fact Ethereum is the strongest coin currently with strong development happening for it.

Stay calm not to get too freaked out following the small FUDs that exist even though many FUDs circulate about Crypto but we just follow the path, I think it's just a matter of up and down the price alone if the price keeps falling then it will probably drop to $ 480 and it will last a few days but we tuinggu turn of the month then the price will start up again, Technicals still bearish but optimistic. Technical indicators showed strong gains returning to an average of around US $ 850, based on current oversold market conditions

ETH, being the second best cryptocurrency on the basis of the market cap, plus, a basis to most of the ICOs, has potential to revive. Most of the ICO take ETH as an investment and most of the exchanges have ETH trading pair, these both things will maintain the demand. The growth of ETH from $300 to $1200 in a short period was ridiculous. The massive pump had to end in a correction which coupled with the negative sentiments in the market. But, according to chart analysis, Bitcoin has touched the bottom and is expected to recover from these levels.

I think of the same thing. I think that since them two are two of the most powerful and high-priced coins in the market, they each affect how their values would climb or fall. That's the same direct correlation that happened last year, during the time when Bitcoin was falling; most of the coins, even the high tier ones are in a stand still, but when Bitcoin started to surge, then also had little surges on their own. Since Bitcoin has fallen recently it somehow ripples into the whole market.

Ethereum is down 0.75% to $594.96 today as of this writing. Could you share the reason behind this price drop? Thank you.

The reason for falling all the coins is one. This is the fall of bitcoin and the all market in general. So if you did not exit in USDT, just wait for a good price.

we must remain optimistic if the ethereum will increase, which at present though ethereum goes down but does not cause death to cryptocurrency and maybe the coin will rise higher than the current price in the future.

The reason why ethereum's price plunge was because the bitcoin's price dropped. It was obvious that ethereum is dependent on bitcoin's price. In my opinion, I don't really think that ethereum will die because before it happened, the other crypto coins with lowest price will be the first one to die. Another good thing is that most of the tokens of ICOs are compatible with ethereum which means that it has lots of supporters.

I suppose we have a crisis on the market due to panic of the investors cashing out, there is no way the market is dead.

it's not caused by the panic investors. EOS team was sending a large amount of ethereum to the bitfinex exchange site. I have known from the santiment team if EOS was sending 166k of ethereum to the bitfinex and then dump it at the cheap price. And that makes a lot of cheap orders were filling by EOS team itself. This is why price of ethereum gets more downfall rather than bitcoin. That not means of the market was dead.

Bitcoin falling = altcoin down also
Bitcoin pump up = altcoin pump up next
In my own opinion this down trend happen to ethereum is normal since bitcoin falling down so high and the market are in crusial situation if the GR20 meeting get a good result we can see the market climb again just wait this situation can be fixed whatever situation happen.

The fall of the crypto-currency in the price is a common occurrence and for this special reasons are not required. It can not constantly grow in price, it needs periods of falling and stagnation. Ethereum is now lowered in price, as all the crypto-currency is lowered after bitcoin. It is not necessary to be afraid of such a situation in the crypto currency market, after each fall, then growth follows.

I do not know where you get the assumption that "Ethereum is now lowered in price". I guess your source might not be from coinmarketcap you just type it as your source. And I guess too, you just simply speculate without any reference at all, because if you have you will know Ethereum price trend is going upward since April 7, 2018... click the links below to check it.

no, do not quickly draw conclusions, this is not the end of crypto see now ETH has started up again although still on a small scale, but in the next few weeks ETH, will rise to a much higher price again.

DoNews February 20 (Reporter Zhao Jinjie) Vitalik Buterin, the founder of the Ethereum blockchain network, warned in a tweet on Saturday that the cryptocurrency is a new, ultra-unstable asset. The price may plunge to nothing at any time.

In the tweets, Bartling cautions investors that investing in cryptocurrency should not exceed their own level of risk. Butrin also said that "if you are thinking about how to use your life savings investment, traditional assets are still the most secure."

The cryptocurrency price has been restored compared with the previous plunge, where value had evaporated $100 billion in one day. Bitcoin prices rebounded to more than $10,000 last week after falling to $5947.4.

The 24-year-old "genius prodigy" has repeatedly expressed his worries about the entire cryptocurrency community. In December last year, Butrin also criticized the cryptocurrency investors for showing off their wealth everywhere. He believes that these investors have forgotten the role of cryptocurrency, that is, this new technology can make the whole society better. And on Twitter said: "If we have achieved the achievement is to talk about luxury cars and inappropriate jokes, then I will launch."

Data from industry website CoinMarketCap shows that the global market value of digital currency has soared from less than US$18 billion in early 2017 to US$560 billion. (Finish)

this is an excellent opportunity to buy cheaper, the last time etherium reached $ 900, then fell to 500 and again grew to 1,400.
No kidding, at first I was sad about all this correcting but I now realise eventually it will stop bleeding. When that day comes, just by a couple of coins near their bottoms and watch the fun unfold :). It is crazy how you can frame a bad thing to actually turn it into a good thing, silver linings baby :).

Glad to see there  are actually people who think the way I do when it comes to drop in prices. People see the price of a coin drop and all they want to do is speculate whether or not the price keep going down or if the coin is dying instead of actually doing the smart thing and buying into the market at a cheap rate. When prices drop, it is time to buy

I do not understand why the fall of the etherium is tied to the fall of bitcoin. If you look at the root and understand what the etherio from bitcoin differs from, the fundamental difference here is that if the entire Bitcoin system is only and exclusively a transaction mechanism that records them in a blockchain with the added opportunity to generate new bitcoins with which and transactions are carried out, Ethereum extends this field to the ability to carry out any transactions of any kind, also without certification by any central authority or any third party. At least that's the theory. From this it is evident that in fact at least the etherium is the brother of bitcoin, but they are called upon to fulfill different goals. So why is everything tied up on bitkoine ??  The etherium should cost more !!!

IMO, the market cap of crypto market has been low for the past few months. There aren’t fresh money flowing in, hence explain ETH price going sideways.

The ether falls on a bearish trend, and this is evident. It is not clear why the bears are attacking for more than a month, and the situation is stabilizing a bit, it is starting to fall again. I hope that in a couple of months, growth will begin. Otherwise, many small-handed players will lose interest in this investment segment.
