The title says it all really!   8)

If you have no idea what KED is look here

I can understand wanting to keep the coin scrypt so they can be GPU but not ACIC mined.

But since there are 3 trek coins UFC is scrypt, GPL is scrypt-jane so KED should be either SHA256 or quark

FINE!!!

You just cannot make it easy on me, cannot be a nice straight up scrypt or SHA-256 coin  :P

After even more hours of work, I was able to find, look for all the parts and compile a stratum back end for Quarkcoin...what a PITA. Some parts here..some parts there, had to change configure files that were buried and not mentioned anywhere.I certainly was not going to reopen the pool with the limping along LP protocol again.

Testing with the couple of CPU quark miners now and it is looking good.

I know the voting is not over, but I do need to get prepared ahead of time.  :)

Well you did ask. ::)

But i do like the idea that each type of trek coin is a different way to mine. But you can play with the base rewards and starting difficulty to balance things out. So if I don't have 4 7970's to do GPU mining but have or can get cheap ASICs you can mine one kind and trade for others. When exchange opens.

I didn't ask, Scifi did... :P

I am just making sure there is a pool at launch (Hence the stratum back stuff).

I also will be in charge of the super-block distribution where all the old KED balances will be distributed into the same addresses in the new chain, so nobody loses any coins. One will just have to clean the transactions out of their old KED wallet file and then they can use it in the new KED coin, balances intact.

Scifi is designing the actual coin.

Thanks for your work small donation sent to cryptocoin explorer

Thank You.

A few facts out the KED relaunch.

The explorer KED database shows a total of 2,858 addresses seen on the network.

About 800 of those addresses hold a balance. The rest are zero or very close (Example: 0.00001)

I figure we break up the coin replacement into 10 super blocks. This will allow me to send 10 transactions at a time due to the way inputs get sent and change sent back. I propose the first 100 blocks be 0 KED coin-base as these will be super blocks and distribution blocks that will be mined into the block chain before release.

10 super blocks + 80 distribution blocks = 90 blocks. This gives scifi 10 blocks for any additional blocks he wants to incorporate.

284,408 KED minted to date. This means 10 super blocks of ~28,441 to cover coin replacement.

Agreed. SHA got my vote

if those who voted scrypt POW would change there vote to scrypt POW+POS........

quark PoW + PoS

Well, another possible cpu only coin would be prime coin clone. Although Scrypt+POS is currently winning with a wide margin.

Quark PoW+PoS sounds cool. AFAIK no-one has tried this yet.

How about Blake-256?

There is currently only one coin using it, Blakecoin (BLC).  It has a CPU, GPU, and FPGA miner.

I give my support to CPU algorithms.

My belief is that for these coins to succeed they must be easily obtainable by a large number of people (especially Star Trek people, who we supposedly are appealing to). As most people don't know much about BTC (and hence the coin exchanges), for them mining might be the best way to obtain the coins. But how many people out there are likely to have an FPGA? GPUs are much better (everyone can get one relatively easily), but CPUs are the best - everyone owns one.

(Of course, you'd then have to concern yourselves with botnets, but it is relatively unlikely since this is a niche coin)

Maybe it's only used by 1 coin for a reason.  But thanks for the suggestion.

Should be it's own coin Blake's7

Reason only one is someone has to be first. It's using preliminary version of next official SHA hash.

Heheheh...no, rather Jonathan Davis of Korn.  But I heard that Ron Jeremy was a freak on a leash once.
