Title: Fcbk, Google, and now Twitter?
Post by: lopez cryptomania on March 19, 2018, 11:05:56 PM
https://www.coindesk.com/twitter-will-ban-cryptocurrency-ads-in-two-weeks-says-report/

with fcbk, google ad words and now twitter putting crypto marketing ads to a stop this year how are ICO's going to successfully find a way to market their product?

What's your opinion in how they get the word out via traditional social media platforms? Any ideas?

I think this should be taken as a chance for other platforms such as snapchat and telegram to use this chance to grow their citizens as all people who deal with cryptocurrency will have no choice but join them. Though it will be hard to adapt it but after all time heals, let's wait and see

Yeah I don't know what their issue is, maybe their planning on launching their own ICO seeing the success of telegram. Imagine if Twitter or Facebook launched it's own coin???

Maybe they don't want a million request for information from the SEC . I can imagine subpoenas coming in left and right for info on advertisers placing ads for ICO's ..

May be a part of it.

There is an old saying that one of my lawyer friends likes to use "99% of the lawyers out there give the rest of us a bad name"
The problem that Google / Yahoo / FB and the others have is that there *are* so many scams out there that it's not worth trying to figure out what is legit and what is not.
If you ban them all nobody can come back and say that one of the ones you let through was a scam or that you blocked a legitimate one. They all go away.

Is it the best answer?  Not sure.
Is it the simplest answer? Yes.

Now, will it hurt legitimate ICOs and other projects?
That is tough to tell. If you are building a better project and can get better returns and legitimate gains, people will find you.

I have found many good coins here. No Google, No FB, No Telegram. Just here. And there are other places too.

Are you thinking that investors for your ICO is from outside world. There are very few alone coming for you to get from the outside source. So here this forum alone give 90% percent of true investors.
I am not sure how you guys believe these medium helping to grab the investors for you.

In future everyone should relay on crypto currency payment that time they will put the tongue out and walk behind the crypto currencies.

That's a dangerous tendency as I think. For sure, they just don't wanna have problems with officials, SEC in particular - that's easy to understand. But for the crypto-market it's surely a step back. Ban on adverting puts cryptos and ICOs in a line with illegal or potentially harmful stuff. Not the best way to treat innovations

Snapchat as well. heard today that they would ban ICO ads, like FB and Google.
Though I believe it's still possible to advertise the project itself, its concept and technology, without underlining crypto features

I dont think they will fully ban ICO ads. Much money can come from ICO ads.
Selection will be better than totally ban ads. let's just wait and see

I never take such news serious.

Won't be a correct action from opponents to my mind. There is a reason they all together decided to ban crypto adverts and that's because there are many scam ICO projects, they aren't company which don't cares about their own image. Such a big companies which claims to be leader in their industry, mustn't promote scam projects.

This is bad, very bad, we need new platforms that support cryptos. Decentralized ones

dont worry there will be new social media plattforms poping up that see this alternative.

facebook google and twitter are corporate equity oriented companies so they hate cryptocurrencies.

But they love money
Any ico is using twitter and facebook like a his advertising channel
I still see some ico's advertised in Google
All that ban is pure fiction
All that big companies make  money in fiat not in crypto

That would not be the end of the world. When a pope dies, another is elected. If twitter bans adverts from cryptos, surely other platforms will strengthen their position and many others will appear to get their share of the market.

There is a difference between tweeting about an ICO/Crypto project and buying Twitter advertisements to promote the project. Twitter forbids advertisements campaign in their own ads platform, not people talking about any ICO or cryptocurrency.
The ban is not a fiction try to buy an advertisement campaign you will see it rejected.

I'm aware that marketing is getting more and more difficult for the average person, but I know ways around it. If you're interested in mass-advertising on Reddit, contact me (Telegram) @Azza1070
I have made campaigns across hundreds and hundreds of subreddits successfully (cheaper than advertising alternatives) with substantial click-through rates and viewers.
Thank you.

Since the day this thing being posted this is the day where facebook do ban out ico ads but now they do recently reverse that decision and now they are already allowing it. We shouldnt really worried to much about on how those projects would market their creations yet there are lots of platforms which marketing can be done. If theres an absence of a popular platform then we can easily jump into others yet not all is banning crypto related things.

Just Facebook, Twitter and Google are losing millions of dollars in profits by banning cryptocurrency ads. Given that the recently held G20 meeting has not adopted any global bans on cryptocurrencies, this decision seems all the more strange.

For sure it is already on their minds about on the profits that they had lose up because of such decision but we do know how crypto is being treated when it comes to fraud and scams and those big companies wont risk out their reputation inspite on having those big advertisement payrates. They do lose up in a span of time but now they are returning it back then expect monetizing advertisement will generate more income for them which isnt really surprising. The good thing here is that big companies is considering them once again.

When social networks ban crypto advertisements, it gives us more of an opportunity to profit from unconventional promotional methods.
Which are, in-fact, better, more reliable, and more efficient.
