I know it is an old topic. However, I would like to get some more fresh insights after the recent deep from experts and holders of both Bitcoin and Etherium. I have a little bit of both. However, I am hesitant with enlarging further my Bitcoin or Etherium portfolio. My brain says, Bitcoin will stay #1 for a minimum of few years. My heart says Etherium should grow significantly and finally overcome Bitcoun in the upcoming years. Not sure which one to chose as a long-term investment.

I only have Bitcoin and I think only Bitcoin is the right crypto to invest in it. The reasons are many and they are simple.

Bitcoin has more upside potential
Bitcoin is more widely accepted than Ethereum in many different sites and online stores
Bitcoin is more supported by the crypto community in general
Bitcoin has a limit of 21 million coins while Ethereum has unlimited supply.

Well it completly depends what type of investor you are. I am short term investor since it can make a lot of money from selling at hights and buying at dips, however if you plan to just put some money in crypto and fotget about it and check on it in a few years i would suggest you do diversify your portfolio to more than just BTC and ETH.
I am currently sitting on bitcoin and trading XMR, since XMR is having many ups and downs in a day/week time and bitcoin is the most stable currently.

I do think that Bitcoin is way better than etherium although both Btc and eth are good cryptos to invest with. Bitcoin has a larger community which I think its biggest advantage that highly affect the demand in the market. Most of the cryptos' market price are only dependent with the demand in the market. So if the demand on a certain crypto is high, surely it will have an expensive market value just like in Bitcoin whereas its market value is increasing continuously for a long run.

I have both little Bitcoin and Ethereum and I guess there is no need to choose one over the other as of now. Why not continue on enlarging your holdings in both cryptocurrency? There is a good chance that Bitcoin will continue on with its overall leadership despite the many challenges stoned unto it but at the same time Ethereum has a good potential for more growth in the coming months. I don't see the point of limiting your choice with only one of the two. In fact, aside from these two there are more coins or tokens that got good potential of expansion.

I totally agree with you, the market demand will determine which one will be able to keep growing, but maybe now Bitcoin will keep growing because everyone has started to believe in Bitcoin.

nothing has changed so far to give you any new insights. everything is still the same as before.
bitcoin has real usages as a currency, ethereum does not.
bitcoin has a big adoption by people other than speculators, ether does not.
bitcoin has a small supply, ethereum has a huge supply which is nearly 6 times bigger than bitcoin
bitcoin has a cap at 21 million, ethereum has no cap so its supply will continue to grow. and according to supply and demand it should not even be able to rise in long term.

For long-term investments, I recommend you to use bitcoin. This coin has a limited amount and is therefore protected from inflation. Eth has no such restrictions and therefore in the future these coins will be subject to inflation. Now we do not see this because the popularity of cryptocurrencies is growing. But with long-term storage of eth it can become a problem.

I would say 50/50, Bitcoin is more famous, more accepted in online stores, more valuable (for now). But Etherium is not worse - it's accepted by much ICOs than BTC, sometimes I even think it's more stable.

Ya it's very old topic and in that thread you can more valuable ideas from their.Based on today price and development of the bitcoin and Ethereum, bitcoin is the best one.Don't believe blindly anything, just accept only by the experience. I had trading bitcoin more than 6months,many time I had  gain more dollars from it.

In my opinion in a long term investment the best coin is bitcoin and there is no doubt about it. Base on the time bitcoin reign on being the top 1 crypt is a solid proof that bitcoin can still be trusted for investment.

The etherium rises in price and does not jump so much as bitcoin will be stable in price then it will already be bitcoin again in first place

i think bitcoin is a crypto that can trust and also bitcoin is the only crypto that have to invest because bitcoin is a crypto currency that never fail us.

Ethereum is second to bitcoin in comes to potential. Even though the price of ethereum is much lower than the bitcoin's, it is a good opportunity to invest in it because it will match bitcoin's achievements in the future. But it's better to do trading for both, specially bitcoin considering its huge price.

However ethereum is faster in the matter of corfirmation speed than bitcoin. And sometimes some people who want to send bitcoin to another exchange quickly, they convert bitcoin to ethereum, send it to another exchange and then convert it back to bitcoin.

And I think there are still many good things of ethereum, but I still prefer bitcoin because it is more accepted here in my country than ethereum. Besides, I find so many bitcoin users here than ethereum users.

In my own opinion, the both coins have good fundamentals and good use cases. Bitcoin is the king of all Cryptos and Etherum is the queen of Cryptos.

Moreso, bitcoin has the potentials to grow more than etherum as people see it as a store of value.

In my opinion, I would advice you to hold both coins as they are very good coins to hold for the long term.

Bitcoin is more widespread in its community than ethereum, making it more likely to gain a variety of benefits. But both are good for investment, so just do the enlargement of ownership of both.

Bitcoin will always be my holdings. I earned a lot of Altcoins like Ethereum or those that are Ethereum based tokens but I will convert them all into Bitcoin. I will never hold Altcoins too long because it isn't that safe. I can't use Ethereum to buy something online or as payments because only Bitcoin is available here in my country as for payment method. If in terms of long term investment go for Bitcoin of course.

Still , Ethereum will always be a small shadow of bitcoin , because of the big price margin but both have a significance in long term investment, though bitcoin has advantage in terms of value due to wide range of acceptance in the market but ETH trying to prove of being on the top list of crypto that gives a credit for both of them,

I think 60% for bitcoin and 40% for ethereum because bitcoin is the main coin so investment is very good, but ethereum is also a big coin which I think both are good coins for investment.

This is really an old topic, and from my own point of view, I will be more willing to choose bitcoin. Because I'm just an ordinary investor, I'd prefer to see the value of the product, and there's no doubt that bitcoin is more valuable than Etherium. Maybe a few years or decades later, more and more people are using Etherium. There are more ways for companies to accept Etherium. But I think bitcoin will always be the king, unless the encrypted currency community has disappeared.

The answer dude will still be both. The oracle of Omaha couldn't be more right when he said never put all your eggs in a basket in financial business. Just because the price of bitcoin is beginning to fall doesn't mean it will not recover. Infact with the fall, any wise investor will see the window to buy more bitcoin and hodl.

Both are good options.

Diversify your portfolio. Never put your eggs in one basket. Having both the cryptocurrency king and queen is a sound investment.

Why choose if you can do both long-term investment? They have both different aspect bitcoin as no. 1 crypto currency and etherium is doing good also. Hold both and see how it will grow .

for me, I prefer to choose bitcoin even though the market price decreases but still bitcoin is on the top selling and buying of all cryptocurrency. Bitcoin started since 2009 and  with the current market cap of 319 billion dollar while Ethereum started since 2013 and with current market cap of 70 billion dollar.

Bitcoin has a limit of 21 million and ethereum unlimited, this needs to be debated and more points for and which is better future , experts need to throw light on this.

I only have a few Ethereum and I think now is not the best time for all cryptocurrencies. While no one knows what the consequences will be due to the ban on ICO in Google, the ban on advertising in Facebook and Twitter. Options development a bit. Other courses, cryptocurrency will grow or go down. There's a lot of bad news on all sides. For this reason, to sell or buy has a lot of risks. Although there is information that large investors began to buy a lot of cryptocurrency. Perhaps you should look at other coins or tokens that have good growth potential.

For me both are good for investments both in the long run and short term, but I still prefer to invest in bitcoin because for me more quickly gain profit, and for me entheteum is also good because ethereum travel is also still long and also good. for long-term investments.

I also choose Bitcoin among two cryptocurrency because bitcoin is very known to investor and it has a big market cap over Etherium. The risk of investing your hard earned money in Bitcoin is very minimal compare to others.

In my opinion, Ethereum is too impossible to beat bitcoin, because I think Bitcoin is a mother of all coin, when bitcoin down all coin will down too. You can see a few month ago when all crypto down, that because Bitcoin down. And if Bitcoin go up, all coin will follow bitcoin too.

You should listen both your heart and brain. If you have both coins, and willing to hodl for a long time, Hodl both. Problem solved.

Both are the best coin in Crypto, but etehereum will not overcome btc. It is quite impossible ethereum take over btc because btc is the king. Now days ethereum is getting high significantly and I believe it will reach the highest value in mid of this year.

if I prefer bitcoin value of the coin larger, because I thought the monetary value metal etherium still under bitcoin.

Thinking that good and choices you are very was right if bought them but I now don’t have enough capital in buying bitcoin because the price of her still too expensive although the market price now again down and I just afford to buy ethereum because the price of her still affordable, therefore I more pick ethereum.

I always choose Bitcoin from the other coin. it makes me a little bored. because I use Bitcoin for a long time. and I also see Ethereum pretty good to have. so I decided to try Ethereum.

actually there is not comparison between the two,bitcoin was primary crypto currency which was taken as virtual payment system ,it is the most popular crypto and widely used for payment,while ethereum was developed to become platform with smart contract to provide base for new upcoming project to host their ico and use the blockchain technology to develop dapps. .both are different and unique of their kind.

Having both coins is a good investment. Yes, it is believed that etherium will take over, if you are willing to hold it for a long time, then you should.  But, if it's for short term, it would be good to have Bitcoin, however with the value it has, it's too expensive.

I think when choosing between Etherium or Bitcoin depends on the capital owned. if I have a lot of capital I recommend to buy bitcoin and if have a little capital I suggest to buy Etherium.

Price of bitcoin has characteristic. if rises can 100% or 200% same vice versa if down. when rises you would become king but if down you would become a slave. different with ETH, when rises or down is slowly but surely.

I have no doubt between to these two cryptocurrencies which has a great ability to create a higher value in the future. But i still prefer to bitcoin, not because it has the highest value, but all altcoins including ethereum are just following on bitcoins market value. I think bitcoin and ethereum are two coin of high safety and profitability. We will not have the exact answer as to which investment is more lucrative.
