Title: Updating W7 Bitcoin Client Post by: tani171 on March 22, 2018, 04:27:52 AM I see that there is a new client available which has a few updates. Can I just install the exe over the current one without any loss of data? (I plan to backup everything before doing it just in case)
I couldn't find a thread or FAQ on upgrading, just the changelog itself. Thanks. The only backup you will need to take would be the wallet.dat file in case something goes wrong.
Title: Re: Updating W7 Bitcoin Client Post by: BrewMaster on March 24, 2018, 02:57:17 PM you need to be more specific about which client, there ins't just one bitcoin client out there, there are quite a number of them available. but just installing the new installer should be enough for most of them but sometimes they upgrade something about their wallet file (for example from Electrum 1.x to 2.x wallet changed) and upgrading may pose some issues so you need to be more careful and make sure to read the change log.
