Title: Passing Bitcoin Around the World: Event Saturday 26, 12:00 GMT Post by: AlanX on October 25, 2013, 03:21:23 AM https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-BYw0cPMm-GY/UmgqWE7MKaI/AAAAAAAAAAA/IVtnHRyLIV8/w940-h235/event_theme.jpg
http://PassingBitcoin.com 12:00 to 16:00 GMT (For North America, 7:00 am to 11:00 am CST) Passing Bitcoin Around the World is a significant exercise in the power of Bitcoin. This simple little demonstration shows so many things that Bitcoin enables when compared to the legacy currencies, and the institutions and technologies that attempt to work around the limitations of these legacy currencies.
How can you help?
No Donation is required to Participate Consider spending a little time on Saturday participating in a demonstration of Bitcoin's utility and value! Title: Re: Passing Bitcoin Around the World: Event Saturday 26, 12:00 GMT Post by: AlanX on October 25, 2013, 02:51:06 PM I have been contacted by one of the participants. They were wondering if they could participate earlier rather than later in the event.
Absolutely. Or you can participate later in the event, if that works with your schedule. The event will go for four hours, guaranteed. If we have the participants, we will go longer. How can we be so flexible? This is Bitcoin. Of course we can be flexible! All we need is for you to give us a bit of info, set up your wallet, request the deposit account, and fund your deposit account. We can do that in minutes. Even as the event unfolds. Then after your turn, we return your BTC, and/or we donate it to your charity, per your instructions. So if you are worried about someone running a scam here, Audit the event yourself in real time. We give you all the addresses. And the websites of the charities, and their Bitcoin addresses. You can see that we are returning Bitcoin to participants, and/or passing on the Bitcoin to the participant's designated charities In Real Time Folks, this is huge. In this world you are forced to trust others. When you donate to some fundraiser, you have to hope they are not pocketing the money you give. Normally, that is where it ends. With hope. But with Bitcoin, you get to audit in real time. You are reduced from hoping in general and forever, to hoping your donation is treated as fairly As you know the previous donations were, for a FACT. Anyway, I hope to see you all tomorrow! I've seen mentions of IRC, which network/channel are you using?

I've seen mentions of IRC, which network/channel are you using? I will have a page up with the IRC channel (and a web client, if you want to use that). Title: Re: Passing Bitcoin Around the World: Event Saturday 26, 12:00 GMT Post by: AlanX on October 26, 2013, 12:18:14 AM You have to put in one BTC to participate? ??? Yes. You can get it back if you do not wish to donate it. Or get back 95 percent of it, if you want to donate a little. Totally up to you. But we are passing you 1 BTC. If you run away with the 1 BTC, we use your deposit to keep going. It is the easiest and most fair and safe way to do this. You do have to trust me, but my identity is well known on Reddit, in Austin Texas with the Bitcoin meetup, the Mini Bitcoin Conference Series in Austin, etc. And Bitcoin allows the real time auditing of the handling of these deposits. And I will help however I can, and donate whenever I can. |
