As I have observe, Ethereum was always at rank #2 in coinmarketcap.com. While in rank #1 is bitcoin. In this days, almost ICO's that launched uses ethereum, Ethereum gained a massive popularity in crypto world. Does ethereum gonna take the spot of bitcoin? is it possible?

I dont think so.
Maybe after some fork and improvement ethereum can be more valuable but it can not take the 1st place of bitcoin

Ironically ,ICOs are the undoing of ETH: they expose it to regulations and exert selling pressure on it.

Anything is possible in the crypto circle, Ethereum is a coin with huge potential and is still growing, its value will rie over time, but it might take years if it is to dethrone BTC at the top of the listing, Bitcoin still have an upper hand

I don’t think so. Especially all other altcoins depends on bitcoin. If bitcoin’s price go down basically altcoin’s price will go down too.

It is unlikely, because there are more perspective coins in the market. The same ethereum classic can eclipse the predecessor with ease. In the near future perhaps and will be. ::)

I don't expect to see ethereum to hit number one. Bitcoin is the most useful ever invented/developed.
Ethereum itself was mostly staying at overbought levels also, its now showing how bitcoin actually rules markets.

No. It is true that ETH had gained a lot of popularity and so as the demand due to ICOs who use its platform to create their token but let's not forget that BTC is far more different and functions as something else. BTC's title as the king of all crytos will not be taken down by just a coin that enables smart contracts.

Maybe? in the next few years, because for now surpassing bitcoin is so difficult the average value of bitcoin now is so huge rather than eth but eth also are gaining popularity in markets so definitely eth will surpassed btc someday.

I do not think that this is when something happens. All the same, bitcoin will not allow to shift itself from the first place, and big uncles will not allow it to fall

everyone is dumping ethereum these days because they are scared of its future. as you said yourself the price of it has gone up only because of ICOs and now that ICOs are losing popularity and are getting banned everywhere there won't be much rise in ETH price either.

and the pump of it becomes harder and harder while bitcoin continues to rise. so unless ETH decides to release 100 million new coins out of thin air i don't see any way for them to go up in market capitalization.

I think this is impossible, because the success of the ETH because ICO market hot, but when the ICO market cooling, so every day there are a lot of teams to sell the ETH, and BTC is people's beliefs, so may not exceed the ETH.

It is not possible that etherium is going to be number 1. I always says Bitcoin is the mother of all cryptocurrency.So it will hold its position and it will be number one all time. Etherium one of the best cryptocurrency no doubt. But I think it will stay on number 2 position always.

It can be happen in the next 10 years ahead, I am sure that bitcoin can't be replaceable at the moment, its very hard to overcome bitcoin domination, which many peoples tend to buy bitcoin than others.

The market position on the currency may change from time to time. If ETH is considered the highest ranking, then soon will be bitcoin. Bitcoin is growing and gradually confirms its position in the currency market.

Possible? Yes. This year? No. If we can notice with their value, etherium is proportional with Bitcoin's value. If Bitcoin rises, etherium does also. So, it would be difficult that etherium will exceed Bitcoin. But, with the capabilities of etherium, it wou not be impossible that it will take over.

Ethereum really become popular and widely used by everyone in crypto world. But let’s don’t forget about BTC popularity. It cannot be explained by it’s high price and huge flow of new people in crypto world who knows info only about BTC and are confident only in it.

Its possible. Its just like USD that its always the counter currency like EUR/USD.  BTC is always the counter currency but if later in fact today we can see ETH being the counter currency of some pair.  If ETH will become popular than BTC it can be on top and if one day ETH will be valuable than BTC, it can happen but right not I don't think it can beat BTC price.

It will, eth is compete with bitcoin in popularity and in demand so definitely eth will surpassed btc in near future but I think its difficult to surpassed bitcoin now because bitcoin gaining popular even the issues and all odds may come so it takes time and effort to surpassed bitcoin in near future or in ranking.

Ethereum is indeed popular but its popularity has not made them a big threat to Bitcoin supremacy, even one-day Ethereum have not surpassed Bitcoin and I doubt in the next 2 years they are going to accomplish that while Bitcoin is getting a lot of attention worldwide.

Everything is possible, only this requires a lot of time. Ether is a separate entity and has every chance to take its place under the sun.

This is difficult for Ethereum because there is a lot of negative information about it coming up, if the information is confirmed to be true then maybe Ethereum will end here. Many ICO projects are eliminating Ethereum and developing on other platforms such as ADA, NEO, and XLM and this has a great impact on Ethereum that has made it go down dramatically.

In my opinion, for him to rise to the first place, there is still a lot of changes in both his system and the improvement of his product, and BTC is the king of the market and therefore he honors ranks first.

dONT think as Botcoin is first and it becomes gold in cryptoworld so peolpe who decide keep money will keep them as Bitcoin and others who will send or do yrasnactions will keep others more mast.

Sad, but very true. Eth gained its price from icos but now they are taking it away, because a lot of icos are scamming people and eventually trust to the platform that enables it decreases.
However, I don't think eth is worth to be #1. Bitcoin was the first cryptocurrency and making something equal in terms of innovation is hard. Theymos once made a list and and eth the innovative potential of 5 points or something, but he said that bitcoin would've got like a 100 in the list. Moreover, eth is too insecure to be in the top.

Ethereum although good coin and it has so much value and future. But I don't think it will overcome bitcoin.
Bitcoin market is so big, and much better than ethereum.
Maximum people fully trust bitcoin, but some people are not believe in ethereum.

Well i don't think so that it will ever happen because demand of bitcoins is just too high and bitcoins is the most important coin in the market almost every coins price somewhat depends upon bitcoins.Etheruem is a great platform for ICOs but certainly can't beat bitcoins.But it sure does has potential to grow more.

I think it could happen if, BTC investors go and choose to hold the token etherium.

Ethereum has been the closest competitor of bitcoin. It has also been known to be the next coin to dominate in the global market. It has the potential and power to lead. But I think, if it can beat bitcoin it would take so much time before it can take over its place. Practically, bitcoin is still undisputed, but possible to be defeated in the nearer future. What is important is that we sincerely work hard for our success and compete with ourselves for the welfare of our nation.

Based on the current price of ethereum which dramatically fallen from the past weeks,it doesnt have good chance for now because its price wasnt recovered from the bloodbaths tha we have a week ago.So it means today ethereum has less chance to get into bitcoin's posititon but if you ask me which coin could replace bitcoin it would be the same,its ethereum because it is the most commonly used platforms in our community.

It is possible because in this life nothing is impossible! Bitcoin and ethereum are to serve different purposes and each is to compliment one another base on the need of the people. I always see bitcoin as a money market and ethereum represent the capital markets. I don't think that both ethereum and bitcoin are into competition of the one to be in the 1St spot on coinmarketcap but to create a new technology that we would all benefit from.

And why do you think that this is impossible? I think that this is quite possible, of course, we are now not in a very good situation with such a bitcoin movement, but still such time will soon end and traffic will begin.

One cannot completely say what the future hold for Ethereum as it has continue to gain more popularity on a daily basis but that doesn't mean ethereum will be the number one crypto currency because the gap between Bitcoin and ethereum or other altcoins is very far and Bitcoin popularity cannot be compared to any altcoins.

its not easy to beat BTC, as of now ETH is very low price compare with BTC and this two projects different purpose, ETH is potential and good power to developing future hence have chances to beat BTC but it take lot of time. Who knows what happen future

You are right ETH is highly popular these days but right now it can not reach to position 1 it will take a lot of time.However in coming few years if the ETH developers bring another technology that may add more to Crypto world and that may be superior to BTC,it can surpass BTC and come to position no 1.Nothing is impossible.Many projects are being operated on ETH smart contract technology and i am pretty sure that in future ETH would emerge tremendously with innovative modifications,lets see.

I do not think that this is possible, I even think that in the near future the ETH will be put on the 5th place, since more powerful projects will come soon ;)

Maybe someday this will happen, but not in the short term. Bitcoin has not yet exhausted its potential. Ethereum will grow in price as one of the most promising coins, however, and bitcoin restores its popularity and demand for it will only increase.

Yes, the Ethereum has a lot of potential, a lot of ICO is carried out in it but I do not think that the Ethereum will overtake Bitcoin.

Ethereum is the most Bitcoin's rival in terms on market capitalization so Yes, Ethereum has a big chance to surpass Bitcoin's market cap in the near  future.
Ethereum had already beaten Bitcoin's scalability and transaction speed so overall Ethereum is far way better than Bitcoin but there are too many Bitcoin investors that wont let Ethereum surpass it's market cap so I really do believe that Ethereum will be the most valued crypto in the market any time soon, if not this year then definitely not forever.
