Probably a very clever move.. ;D ;D

I couldn't find a graphical countdown, but here is a website:

http://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/to?year=2013&month=11&day=1&hour=20&min=0&sec=0&p0=1440&msg=AM%20AUCTION%20END

The auction ends on Friday, 01 November 2013 at 20:00 UTC.

Errr, even the "sample" timer from sticky post has been changed to weird, cute picture.
This probably requires a ban and a sticky droped and/or replaced.

Thanks for the quick alt counter dex.
I'll report my own post so mods take action about this.

I'll be unable to acquire the required amount of bitcoin in this time period, sorry.

I guess the whole business of "binding" is just a joke here with 0 repercussions...

coinbase killed instant and other funds are in currently illiquid stocks

so the 48 hour thing is impossible since it'll take nearly 7 actual days to get the bitcoins

It is your responsibility to ensure that there are enough available funds before placing a bid. Honoring terms and conditions and the liability that comes with a bid are key principles for every auction, especially when time is critical and the value of goods is volatile. Your retreat has immediate and significant consequences and therefore I left you a negative trust rating, which I may revoke, if come up with an adequate compensation, and encourage others to do likewise.

This is very unfortunate now.

CanaryInTheMine's was completely outbidded by stslimited and Kouye's decision was based on previous bids.

I didn't preconceive such a scenario when I created the auction terms, so there is no basis to act upon and I offer to retract those two bids.

For the ease of the auction I consider those bids as no-bids and encourage all participants to place a new bid or to confirm the old bid, if desired.

All terms of the original post still apply.

Yeah, I'm too illiquid right now in bitcoin, blame the various infrastructure problems in the securities market, coinbase, etc. I posted as soon as I realized it would be impossible to adhere to the 48 hour terms. Hadn't kept up with coinbase's liquidity problems. I know you are familiar with these issues so thats the best I can do on this matter, and apologize.

To clarify, are you encouraging others to give me a negative trust rating? I'm obligated to be defensive about that, the aforementioned reasons are why. I have other and larger trades and traders to vouch for me.

I saw your previous trades. It seems to be an unfortunate situation for you, too and I'm very sorry on a personal level, if this is the case, but the "who is to blame" doesn't change the situation, because what's important is the "who takes the responsibility" and this is you, from my point of view. Furthermore I think the consequences and their actual degree have little to no relevance in this matter. I don't criticize the failure of being unable to secure enough coins, but the violation of a basic principle of an auction, namely not honoring binding bids. There is no groundwork to handle these things and also no body like the MPEx Rota (http://trilema.com/2012/the-mpex-rota/) (which was in theory a great idea), so the way I responded is, based on my opinion, appropriate. You are competetly free to agree or disgree and it's up to you what you do or not do and this also applies to anyone else. Please note that it's of course not my intention to create avoidable conflicts and I'm open to discuss this further.

Oh, I hope this was no missunderstanding. :/

You didn't confirm your bid, so I assumed that you are no longer interested. But if this is not the case, I can offer you the remaining 40 shares for 0.7 = 28 in total. Please confirm.

Hmm... I read it as referring to "those two bids" and your action was related to them only.

"those two bids" was directed to you and Kouye, the remaining two potential bidders. It excluded stslimited's third bid, so to speak, because he already retreated.

Sorry for the confusion. Are you interested in the remaining 40 shares?

The auction is officially over and the participants are in contact with ThickAsThieves.

I'll leave you guys a positive feedback, when it's all settled.

Cheers! :)

CanaryInTheMine: leave me a PM and we can discuss further details, if you are interested. Though the escrow has already been initiated, so I'd need to make a new deal with TAT.

To be completely honest, this was a bit unclear, even though I somehow got it right (else I'd have gone for over 0.7).
Even though mine are paid for and waiting for transfer (thanks for the swiftness, TaT and dexX7), I'm willing to talk this through, too, if Canary feels cheated, just let me know.
