Title: Can old Butterfly Labs miners be re-purposed to mine altcoins? Post by: Nat3 on March 23, 2018, 01:13:38 AM I ran into a few of these being used as paper weights https://i.imgur.com/UmP9LfR.png
Is it possible to repurpose these miners to do anything useful? Title: Re: Can old Butterfly Labs miners be re-purposed to mine altcoins? Post by: adaseb on March 23, 2018, 02:23:18 AM Yes they can mine alt Sha256 coins like Bitcoin cash.
Is it worth it? No. Title: Re: Can old Butterfly Labs miners be re-purposed to mine altcoins? Post by: m.vina on March 23, 2018, 02:35:19 AM You'll be spending more on electricity than what you will gain in mining. ASICs rule SHA256 and bitcoin mining today.
To put things into perspective, thats like trying to mine with a needle while others are mining with tractors. That is essentially a relic of the past. Good luck with that.
