How big a power supply would it take to use 2x Gigabyte 7950 WF3?

From what I can read I wouldn't need much more than 500-600watt?

The Bronze/Silver/Gold/Platinum doesn't matter as I've got free power.

600W or more.  And it needs to be a high quality power supply, those generic 600W units will pop in months under a heavy load.  Power supply efficiency does not matter as much to you as others (because the free power) but better supplies make less heat.  In the summer that could be important allowing you to run more units.

Got any specific in mind that you could recommend around the 600-700 range?

Also, if they do pop and they are under warranty, that shouldn't be much of a problem then right? Besides the obvious downtime

Sometimes bad supplies take other hardware with them to the grave so really avoid 'generic' power supplies.

I personnally like Antec, Seasonic, XFX, Corsair, Enermax, OCZ & Thermaltake.

something like a hx750 will work well and you can get them cheap :)

my XFX7950 X2 are running off of 850w
my Powercolor 7950 X2 running on 650w

the 850 powering my main rig, so all the bells and whistles
the 650 w is barebones miner, NO extras- HDD, sytem board and 2 vid cards + asics(self powered)
minimum 550 for 1 card

I used an old server supply rewired slightly to provide an extra 40A 12V rail in my GPU rig. If you can find a second-hand fairly cheap that might be something to consider.

750w Gold is recommended. Also try to add a good servo motor voltage regulator as it extends the life of the capacitors and transistors of the power supply.

600 watts platinum should be enough, it also depends on how much you are going to overclock..

Thank you all for your replies, I am thinking of going with either the Corsair CX750M or the "XFX ProSeries P1-750X-XXB9", both have a good reputation and are both 750Watt power supplies

I have a few of these for $15 plus ship worth of BTC.   16a 12v

Since you are getting gigabyte, do you know that it is unable to undervolt? So you might need about 800 watt if you are planing to overclock and not undervolt...
