Title: Posts deleted
Post by: Vancityguy on October 27, 2013, 03:22:10 AM
Hi,

As a longtime bitcoin supporter and new forum member I need to voice my opinion on something very frustrating.  I understand the desire to reduce members posts overtime to ensure they are not spamming because you allow commissions based off posts.

I would like to point out the negative effects of it however. I just worked fairly hard on a post to try and respond to the community and provide information, probably 40+ minutes.  In another tab I made a quick response to someone who had responded to me.

I then posted my article and was met with the your unable to post message of doom, deleting all my work.  I have no interest in wasting another hour of my life putting that post together, was very frustrating to see that.

Could I perhaps suggest your site saving the post as a draft or giving a message "please try again in 2 minutes" while leaving the content intact.

Was very frustrating.

This would be a good idea if possible, but until such a thing is implemented (which very well may be never), I'd suggest anyone creating a substantial post while still under newbie restrictions create the post in a text editor or word processor.  Then copy and paste into the forum.  That way if the post is blocked, you have a draft that you can re-copy from again later.

Or just quickly CTRL-A, CTRL-C in case something goes wrong.

Maybe try the browser back button (i.e. previous web page) when this happens. This should take you back to the post editor with all your words intact.  It works for me when I have successfully submitted a post, so I guess it should also work for unsuccessful posts too.

That doesn't work in some browsers for HTTPS sites, unfortunately.

I always copy the text of any long post and paste it in notepad or wordpad before I hit submit.  This will save you a lot of frustration, believe me.  I have notepad and wordpad pinned to my start menu, they come in very handy.

I now do the same as you after I have to re-typed my very first few posts :P

I feel for you, that's what I experienced before so what I do before hitting post, I make sure I copy it in the clipboard and then paste back again when error of doom appears. :D
