Title: What type of US 240V outlet should I have installed?
Post by: FoolFully on March 26, 2018, 10:43:59 AM
I’m having a 240 outlet installed in my garage for a level 2 charger - either NEMA 14-50R or 6-50 depending on the charger I decide. I’m also having additional outlet installed for a future big rig.

What 240 outlet should I have installed for the future rig?

What type 240 outlets does everyone else use in US? Say I want to use the new 220 evga that’s being released soon. What outlet do I get for that?

I think a NEMA L6-30R outlet is what you want.

I got 6-20 outlets installed. Whatever you get installed, make sure you can get hold of psu power cable with that plug type.

And the EVGA 2200 will not have a standard C13 on the psu side for sure.

Yes, you want NEMA L6-30R... that is if you plan on plugging one of these into it.

Here is the plug on amazon.

Here is an example breaker (this may not be your as it depends on the brand of breaker box you have).
