Hey every  one.

So is decided  to  start  a  IRC channel  for  Bitcoin in India.  so this channel  will be  dedicated to  Indian  users, every  thing bitcoin  related.

I will be  adding a  bot  soon for  maintenance  of the channel, as soon as a  free up one of  my  shell account.

Feel free to uses it  and connect  better  with  every one.

IRC is an open channel. i would  say its better. i can use a  chat  software connect to  this  channel and other  channel i  usually  work on. Its convenient..

Long long ago, i used to be a Mod on #India on MIRC and Operator of #Bangalore and #Mysore.

O wow Cool ,i  think we may know each other  i was  an OPs on DALnet and a few other networks #india channel about  15 years  back.
Those  were the good times .

Sub has been invited. I do like the IRC idea as well for sure. More the exposure and discussions, the better.

Integration of IRC and abitsocial chat????? That could be a good shot in the arm for it.

yeh that can be done there are a lot of web based IRC clients that can be added to the site .

That is something i will add to my to-do list. However, i won't be able to get to that anytime sooner. I have a huge list in front of me.
Have been working on a few and crossing out some of them over the weekend. Am excited to showcase them on prod server.

Is  any  one  using the  IRC. i only  seee the  channel  bot   sitting  there  alone.

People  start  using   it, Its  better   and   a   good  way to  connect  with  people.

Sorry about  that, looks like  people  dont  want to use  IRC. i still have  a  channel  bot  running  on that and  do   login  during the  night. but  so fat  no one  come  over. looks like  the  volume of people interested in Bitcoin is fat  lower  that  we  thought in India.

The issue is IRC is kind of alien for people in India :)

the volume of people interested in irc is low in India for sure.

I remember discussing this with Amitabh a year ago. It is not very user friendly although extremely functional.

Oh... c'mon there  have  been only  6 people  who  ever  logged into this   room.

Starting to  think  its going  to  be a  waste   keeping  an  IRC  up and  running. 

Dude in the era of whatsapp, BBM and viber (including free text) i doubt if people will be interested in IRC.
Kepp it open if it is not costing you anything.

If it is, then rethink on it.

Can try a timed event on IRC see how that works out.

Ex: 2 - 3 PM on a weekend afternoon. I can help by tweeting it, etc and we can get a small crowd for sure.

Please organize so it does not clash dates with the Bangy meetups.

We have a Bitcoin meetup this Sunday. We can do 7th or 8th.

8th would be better.

We can get people to sign up on abitsocial.com and setup an event page there as well.
It would help getting the platform moving as well.

How to connect to the Indian Bitcoin IRC channel :- (The Easy way)

Go to https://webchat.freenode.net/
under Nickname, choose a nick name for your self (you can also permanently reserve nicknames too for that read the Freenode FAQ)
Under Channel, type in #taproom
Enter the Captcha numbers from the box.
Click on connect.

You are now connected to the IRC network. and into the Indian Bitcoin Channel.

Note:- you can also use IRC chat software's to connect to the channel, one of the most popular ones out there is Xchat.
