Title: Bitcoin price falls 7 percent after Twitter's announcement of crypto ban
Post by: filharvey on March 27, 2018, 04:25:21 AM
And now after Facebook ban and Google's restrictions on crypto ads,its Twitter's turn to act against cryptos. On Monday, twitter announced that it would ban crypto ads to protect its users from getting scammed. This move has reduced bitcoin's price by 7 percent.

Actually i planned to withdraw 2,000 dollars worth bitcoin from my wallet today. Now should I wait for one or two days for price to recover or should I withdraw now itself to avoid further loss due to more price fall.

Your valuable suggestions are most welcome.

Bitcoin volatility is the reason why so many trying to warn the investor. Now we're talking about investment vs need, if you really need that money now to buy supplies or something can't longer wait then i suggest you withdraw that now without looking the chart anymore. However if anything you want to do with that $2000 can wait until 1-2 weeks then i suggest you wait it to recover, you shouldn't hope the price to recover because it can takes longer than what you're planning for, you should instead focus on your needs first

Bitcoin price not depend from twitter. You see ever bitcoin ads on twitter, i am not. Twitter ads only for ICO's
Twitter banning bad for ETH and other token included platforms

I don't believe this is the reason for the 7% fall, bitcoin's price was falling anyway and this news should not have come as a shock to anyone who is even slightly informed. For that reason I believe it to have been priced in long before this time. If you need to withdraw money sometime in the next month then do it now, there's nothing on the immediate horizon that suggests a recovery is imminent.

News are main drive for crypto prices. You should read news everyday and you will get some "picture" in your head of crypto world today. You can read more and more good news every day which is good but we will need time to get back on track with crypto again.

None of the platforms that you talk about has got any influence on the bitcoin prices. The thing is, its just temporary. I mean people might have gone crazy after reading such news and just out of the fear they might have revoked their trades, just in case of safety of their trade and nothin else.

Fact : Facebook, Google, Twitter are just medium of advertising , none of them actually interfere with the transaction, buy, sell or exchange stuff so they have no direct effect on the bitcoin value as such.

Speculation : It could be the case that after banning of the advertisement the crypto currency out reach might have reduced dramatically to zero (considering the ban) and thus it felt the shortage of new investors or after effect of ban. But sooner or later people will start back online and everything will come to the point where it was earlier.

I believe this might be the case, but I am pretty sure that they dont affect the thing at all.

In my humble opinion this is a big pile of crap. It makes no sense for this ban to have an effect on bitcoin. How many adds of bitcoin have you seen in any of these platforms? Bitcoin already hit mainstream awareness, and it doesn't need advertisement. I would accept a hit on Ethereum, because a lot of the money that comes into the platform is from ICO sell. So without the advertisement, we might see less ICOs, and less money entering in ehtererum.

In the long run I actually think this will be a good measure even for ether, because we don't need scammy adds, that will bring bad reputation to the crypto space.

As for your question, it's hard to say what will happen to crypto. People don't really understand the news, and what I do think that is happening is that some guys with a lot of coins are making sell outs once they hear these news to try to create a sell out effect on others. They see the news, they make a sell out. Maybe they even pay to post some articles to make that connection (price drop and the news) even more evident. Those that don't really understand anything about bitcoin, accept that connection and sell out in fear. The price will now start dropping significantly.

If you can withdraw later, I would suggest that you do that.
I will leave your with a thread in the press section. I suggest you to read that article before you start selling without really needing it.

I will never believe that the price of bitcoin depends on Google's position. Have you ever seen an ad of bitcoin in Google? The decline in bitcoin prices is associated with the position of whales. They are now interested in lowering prices to buy at a low price a large number of coins. I do not rule out that they even bribed the asset Manager of mtgox. But after they all buy the prices again will go up.

Bitcoin didn't owe its success to Twitter ads. Those ads weren't about bitcoin anyway. They were about ICO's which has nothing to do with bitcoin at all. Most of them are seeking people to scam too. Banning ICO ads was a good decision.

It is ETH which gets the most damage. See ETH/BTC pair.
https://investing.com/crypto/ethereum/eth-btc-chart

ETH/BTC - 0.057 (-%6.24) right now and keeps falling.

It's normal that news like this will always affect prices as some people will start to panic and start selling off their coins but they are the weak hands, the market will recover and the price will start going up again.

Bitcoin price is not dependent upon twitter. I never saw any advertisement of bitcoin on twitter.
It's volatile currency, 20% up and down is normal in bitcoin so 7% down hardly matters. One should wait for better returns.

as it was in Google and Facebook. The bulls positions are very strong and most likely we are expected to grow Bitcoin in the very near future.

This was something that the market had discounted long back and I'm bit surprised that it took a beating again considering that it already was down when this news came out earlier.

Yes I think you should definitely wait for a few days cause every time bitcoins been down it's risen up and raced ahead.

I won't tell you when it'll be done but I'm sure it'll bounce ahead in the coming days this news is not that big to bring it down for long. Just buckle up and wait for the green.

Can I give you a little glimpse into the future? A lot of these governments are busy formulating regulations and organizations

to deal with ICOs. In the future these regulations will govern which ICOs must be registered and approved by these

organizations to be legit. Social media platforms will then amend their ban to allow these ICOs that were "legitimized" by

these organizations. They will come crawling back for the business, but in a unregulated environment, they need to protect

their users from scams.  ::)

I do not think that the ban on advertising crypto currency in Twitter has affected the bitcoin rate. Various conflicting information, including negative information, has been postponed for a long time in people's minds and, most likely, bitcoin had to drop a bit at this time. Just happened this coincidence. Today, I see that bitcoin has again risen a little and, according to CoinMarketCap, its price is 8,125 dollars. Now bitcoin swims, then rises in price a little, then drops. Under such his movements, any positive or negative information can be manipulated, but no one can tell how specific information affects bitcoin. We in general are waiting for his good growth, and with him growth and all the crypto-currency.

You missed the whole point. OP was about to make a $2000 withdrawal from his wallet for reasons best known to him before the news of twitter's crypto ban broke out and unfortunately,  the price of bitcoin dropped (quite typical of the cryptocurrency market).

Back to discussion, Twitter's cryptocurrency ban is no surprise. Facebook and Google have already banned crypto so It was certain that twitter would follow suit. They picked the wrong side though.

Twitter wants to ban crypto related ads, because their are too many ICO's that are just scams. Nothing wrong with that. The point is, people are making the wrong conclusions and connect this to bitcoin. So, it's not the fact that Twitter is going to ban these ads, what's causing the price drop. It's the message that gives the negative feeling and that makes people sell their Bitcoins.

It is amazing to know that some people would panic over news on ad bans. It should only affect those upcoming projects' initial coin offerings as their reach/exposure would drop. Not those established coins like bitcoin.

after the negative news overwrites cryptocurrency in the past few days, to date. many people are in the heat of the moment, they begin to ask solutions to other users, so as not to eat too big a loss. indeed its price drop its now caused by twitter, but not all this chaos caused by twitter as well. because this ban is a lot of people who panic and immediately sell it. IMO bitcoin performance can be said out of shape, but be quiet bitcoin still have On the second thought to fix this mess.

I guess people still do not realize that whatever twitter/FB/Google decides to do, that's their problem. It won't actually affect how bitcoin works whatsoever. It's pure panic, previously when google and FB announced that they were banning crypto ads, people panicked too but the price eventually recovered. I expect this to be similar.

In fact, most of the ads on these platforms are scams, not a lot of them are actually promoting legitimate businesses. Especially Google adwords.

Plus, the general downtrend for BTC isn't even caused by the bans from these social media bans. It's just how bitcoin usually moves after a big rally ends, the price just naturally goes down until it finds a bottom and consolidates enough to make its way up again. But if you're actively trying to cash out, then I would suggest waiting a bit. Wait for BTC to rebound up to at least $8k before you cash out, right now is pure panic.

Bitcoin in the short term may continue its drop. There are simply no bullish resistance right now to keep prices high and the general market sentiment is extremely bearish. And with the new regulations, and bans from Twitter as you mentioned, markets don't yet know how to react rationally to these pieces of news. That's why prices in the short term should only continue its downward slope IMO.

You have 2 choices if I were you.

Either hold for the long term, since cashing out BTC at such low prices seems to be a high risk, low reward thing to do. But that requires time. Or you could sell around now, but waiting for the rebound before you do so instead of selling right now. Prices have declined throughout the week and eventually, there will be a recovery, whether a small or big recovery.

I think this fall down is nothing to do with the ban because Bitcoin is not advertising to this sites like FB, Google and especially twitter except is someone will use the Bitcoin platform but i believed that Altcoins will be affected of this ban because most of the Altcoins have commodities in which need to advertise to pump up their coins. This Bitcoin fall down for me is just a normal to the market as its the same moving trend of the past years performance.

Because of the inconsistency of Bitcoin many feels it unsafe to invest here and many other like twitter, google and Facebook is acting against Bitcoin. I don’t think such activities will be able to hamper the growth of Bitcoin much and hopefully Bitcoin will rise above all very soon. And about your $2000 dollar I will suggest you to wait for a few more days because I think waiting for one or two days won’t help much. If you cannot wait for long then you can sell it now.

Ban is only to paid ads. The biggest reason for this is a large number of new ICO, and they don't want to investigate which of them is a scam.
Now all new ico must dedicate to bounty hunters and his Twitter account to share his idea. Facebook also.

Banning bitcoin in social media sites will not affect the Bitcoin price as this are not directly involved in the supply and demand of bitcoin. It's just the weak investors had panic on that news as they are afraid that the price will go down to zero. We need to relax this is just temporary. We will boom sooner be patient.

Most got panic selling this time that price falls into 7%. Those weak hands are eventually will lose and strong hands can earn big at a latter end. Though we dont know when will it be in uptrend, but as today nees patient on this downtrend.

Now should I wait for one or two days for price to recover or should I withdraw now itself to avoid further loss due to more price fall.

before they permanently banned cryptocurrency it was in the news for how many weeks, meaning we are ready about that banning so dont tell us that its because twitter, crypto price now is dropping because of volatility and because of some religious practice about LENTEN SEASON so many withdrawals happening.

I think this kind of news is intentionally exaggerated to buy Bitcoin cheaper. This is a very obvious manipulation. There is a cost to produce a bitcoin. Hope we will see good prices soon.
