Before investing or participating any project make sure you have done the proper research about the project team, their interactions with know people. And most importantly from where team based.

Mostly every new ICOs have their group on telegram as a medium for their token sale & to discuss their project. So first, you find a link to their telegram group on their official website, join it & ask admin regarding their office address where it is registered? Ask about team members developers, managers & mostly CEO, do a search on google or on social media platform do these people even exist? Does their CEO comes forward & show himself discussing & promoting his project on live conferences, social media & involve in discussion to answer your question on telegram group. Another important do they have an actual working product that solves the real problem & has they partnered with some potential clients or not? If all factors not convinced you then probably it is a scam.

You'll probably get the same response here - which is you do your research, read the whitepaper, and only then invest accordingly. Sounds simple but that's because it is and often works.

It's not easy to stay away from scam ICO project. Not only newbie can be scammed but also professional investors also can be scammed by ICO project :)). Maybe you've heard about Denaro ICO project, everyone thought that it's a legit one and very truthworthy that why there are a lot of investors invested in Denaro ICO project but after that all of them get scammed :). Sometime it depend on your experience, skills and knowledge but sometime you need to be lucky :)

A good start to avoiding being scammed is to be skeptical of everything. When you get an email immediately doubt the sender, check the address of the sender and don't click any links from it. Use bookmarks to ensure you don't get phished and do thorough research of every project you want to invest in.

It can happen to anyone of us the thing is,its unavoidable because these ICOs are unregualted, part of decentralized community of us that is why these hackers are doing their best to get those investments from newbie investors. To lessen the risk of getting sscam you should do a lot of research regarding the team,if someone is hiding their identity its a scam surely.

The best way to stay away of scam is to check everything you can. And if you don't like something, just don't do it. I don;t give them a free pass. I have my checklist and if a project fails on any of the checkpoints, I pass it.

Their sole idea is to make profit and provide marketing services for ICOs, not to give you good advice nor provide investment consultation - this is the most correct fact

Indulge yourself with knowledge, when I said knowledge you read? What would you read? The past and histories of the coins that have made it so far. What have they done to reach this height? You can read the past announcements of ICO that are now succesful, and you could see for yourself, track and compare them  to what are they have in common. Well that is if you are talking about ICO, but I bet yes since scams lately are most probably the cause of ICO. Don't trust too much, be careful out there.

If you don't know how to determine whether an ICO is real or scam and you read their papers and it seems legit just check the person's behind the project, research on them and you will see some are really expert on their field, on bitcoin things, and check also some feedback of their projects.

You cannot avoid these scams especially when these people are doing it for a living, because these are professionals and you cannot see all the possible redflags from these ICOs,even those good looking team and websites sometimes are using fake profiles and you wont know what will happen to the campaign because nobody can tell whom or which one will scam people.

It is necessary to check whether the company was exposed to an open audit. It is a good way to prove that the company has sufficient funds. Analyze the transparency and quality of the company's business processes. Don`t deal with exchanges and other companies that are not able to show their transparency and solvency.

Before investing in ICO, find it in debates on bitcointalk.org.  If the topic is not on the forum or the ratings of the rating users are mostly negative, it is better not to contact the project.  Use services like ICOtracker and ICOrating.  They can find all the information about the current ICO, the dynamics of their indicators and key events associated with the start-up.  But it's best to just choose projects that work with smart contracts.  And to diversify its crypto-currency portfolio, that is, to invest in several different ICOs.  This will reduce risks and increase the chances of profit.

Do some research. Educate yourself. Get a complete information about the product, team, work progress, future business plans and legal authority of ICO before investing. Just do you own research and don't rely on other people's opinions.

Title: Re: how to protect with scams

I think that there will be less SCAMs now. There're hunders of ICOs now and most of them don't even reach their soft cap. I've heard that it costs about $300k to organize a SCAM project. And as the number of investors is decreasing it'll be very hard to raise even such sum. In other words it won't be profitable to hold a SCAM project.

to completely protect yourself from the scam - do not participate in projects at all. If you have decided to participate in ico or buying tokens on the exchange, then be prepared for any situation. One of the options to protect yourself from scam - study the leaders of the company, their authority and status.

First we need to know the nature of the scams, most scams only targets newbies but some are clever enough to victimize even seasoned traders specially phishing sites today. I suggest you bookmark legit sites once you visited them.

always check your wallet address each transactions specially if you will receive your coins because there are some cases that address changes as they copy pasted it during transactions which I think is a form of a malware just remember when it is too good to be true, take one step back and think carefully.

Even if you have done your research on whatever ICO you have interest in. If you are still new in the system, do put all your investments into it and neither should you put your investments into one basket. Invest only your spare money and use that process to learn those things that might be new to you, most especially when it comes to investing in ICO.
If it succeeds, then you should be able to do the analysis of what made it to succeed and if otherwise, try to hypothesize the reasons.

Dear friends! In social networks, there is a new type of fraud.Write in contact-help at a low price to cash Bitcoins.I have a lot of them ,and I need cash. You create a bitcoin wallet and they allegedly throw the cue ball there, but in fact they import their address there so that you can see how much money he has in his account, you can not withdraw this money in any way. Then the con requires a key and writes the desired Commission,a minimum of one cue or less. You send a Commission and your money is floating away.So be careful!.

The level of scam tends to rise with the passing of the months and as much as we do detailed research and follow a pattern of security, nothing is guaranteed if some project tends to be scam or not. With this before any investment, accompany the team and several references of the developer or manager, can be beneficial to a possible fugue of the project if it becomes a scam.

In my opinion, no one dives into the first ICO, people  became more attentive and picky, less hope for the luck. I noticed that they began to study information in more detail when choosing a project, and this is good. With  prepared and understanding investors there will be less skam, and more life for the projects that are worthwhile. After all, because of the current situation in the ICO market people want, but afraid to invest that's why interesting projects can remain without support. I'm  working with the German project Vreo.io, maybe someone heard. I couldn’t find any competitors for project, that's one of the reasons why I belive in them. They are doing dynamic in-game advertising. They are going to create marketplace for developers and advertisers. t seems the product meets the gaming and advertising industries' needs. Here is their link at bitcointalk https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2886707 Telegram grp https://t.me/vreoico.
In any case, when choosing ICO, carefully read the whitepaper, there all the necessary information

We cannot avoid scams 100% because even those projects who looks like legit can get investor's money easily ,previous one was denaro scam who stole $10M from investors. They looks a legit company and legit people and it just they have turned the table off and they disappear that like they have never been existed.

Doing research will lessen the risk of being scammed by these ICO projects, but it doesnt mean you wont be scammed because those legit projects are stealing and scamming a lot of people too,so there still no guarantee about this as these scammers are professionals because they are stealing money for the living.

You can especially these ICO professionals who looks very legit ,you will never know until they have run away already so we arent all sure how or when these legit projects will turn the table, because money talks as always you need tobe alert and vigillant all the time so the risk will be lessen atleast.

Normally you cannot, because even those legit projects sometimes are turning into a scam so there will be no guarantee in each projects until the ICO has ended and those people behind it wont run away into thin air because that is how normally scam ICOs run away, after the ICO kaboom!  your investments are in good hands!

You cannot avoid these scams, all you can do is to do your own research dig some informations so that you will know if these people behind a certain projects are using their real identity because if they arent,100% you  know already the outcome stealing millions of dollars from the people that is why you need to be more vigillant when it comes in investing.

Title: Re: how to protect with scams

Doing a lot of research if you cannot verify if those people in their website is really the peopl behind the project because if these people are going to use legit people so that their project will look legit, you will never know not unless that person claims that the site is claiming he is a part of that project which is possible because these scammers are professoinal people.

Doing research is indeed will only lessen the risk of losing your money thru these scam projects but it doesnt mean you arent going to experience legit projects that are turning the table after they have gathered enough money, probably millions of dollars in their pockets because you wont know if these people are really using their real identities .

to avoid fraud you may have to look at the concept of projects and teams that are very influential on the project. Sometimes people get scams because they do not see the projects they follow first.

Don't buy any MLM based tokens for example bitconnect like Ponzi.

Getting scammed is unavoidable we need to take risk to know if its scam or not even the best ICO, best whitepaper, best roadmap and even those ico that was backed up by the community are not 100% sure that you will not get scammed. Taking risk is the only key to know if its a scam or not and if the coin is not a scam then you are lucky because you took the risk to invest.

Reading the white paper helps you a lot and saves you from scammers. You should always have your instinct as well as your intuition in everything and every decisions you may have face in this organization. Remember always that you put future in your hands. Always stay alert. Be mindful of all the things that surrounds you. Make sure to think before you click, especially those links that leads to scammers and take your money away. Also join projects if you ever happen to read its purpose. The leads of the said projects are also you should look at to.

Protect yourself by not being so gullible. There are several scammers in this forum that take advantage of newbies. Learn how to read and apply what you read. Do not immediately plunge into something you are not sure of. Do your research regarding the offers, or if its an ICO, research on its team, scrutinize its whitepaper, and go to reliable sites like icorating or icobench etc to know the credibility of that ICO. You will lose money if you are gullible here. Always be cautious and ask feedbacks from other people.

to begin with, there is a lot of data on the fool - that is, people are mentioned in the team who do not even know that they are involved in the ICO. Next, check the competence of those involved. Further realism of the idea. Next, check the white paper on how there just described idea, there is one water and common phrases. The most convenient way now is the rating from ICO trackers. At least this is the primary selection, which makes sense to pay attention to

The number of blockchain projects, and therefore of the ICOs, has increased considerably in recent months, and with it also the danger of frauds. It is important to always analyze carefully each project and the quality of the team, it is also important that there are advisors, even if obviously you can never have a 100% security

invest only on good and solid project,
look at their team member, is this trusted or not, to know about that
just check their social media profile such as linkedin, twitter or others
also learn more about the project in all sides,
the last thing is invest wisely  ;)

It's not easy to stay away from scam ICO project. Not only newbie can be scammed but also professional investors also can be scammed by ICO project :)). Maybe you've heard about Denaro ICO project, everyone thought that it's a legit one and very truthworthy that why there are a lot of investors invested in Denaro ICO project but after that all of them get scammed :). Sometime it depend on your experience, skills and knowledge but sometime you need to be lucky :)
I really agree with your opinion, sometimes we are difficult to distinguish projeckt ico scam or not, usually it depends on luck, accuracy in predicting the ico and also experience as you mentioned

I think that today there are no such opportunities for people to protect themselves from scammers, probably now you just need to be very attentive to such little things, I think this will be the most correct approach.

For protection from the scams, you should do researches about the team and you should read carefully the whitepaper. But unfortunately, these can not protect you %100 from the scams. In my opinion, it is getting harder to distinguish that the campaigns if they are bad or not.

Hard to avoid a scam, we need to idendify them before we invest. Here is some tips.

3 Ways to Identify an ICO Scam:
1. The Developers Are Anonymous
The first and most clearest sign of an ICO scam is that the token’s developers are anonymous or otherwise-unknown.
2. The Token Does Not Have a Clear Use Case
Another sign of an ICO scam is that the developers are unable to clearly articulate a valid use case for the token.
3. The Whitepaper Sets Unrealistic Goals
If the whitepaper sets an unrealistic development schedule, it either means the developers are using deceptive tactics to attract token buyers or they lack the necessary experience to give a sensible scope to the project. Either way, this does not bode well for the success of the project and its corresponding token.

My suggestion to avoid a scam is read whitpaper thoroughly and carefully, go to their site to see who is the developer and check their background history.
Go to several site see how people comments and discribe about their project.

hope this help you and wish you best luck for future investment.
